A few hours ago Hasbro did their live stream as promised, and featured many of the toys from SDCC that they said that they would do a full reveal of later.
They also did a big reveal of the new British Stamps that were found out a few days ago, which they claim can be purchased and shipped internationally. (I will find out the details and post it up if true).

Screenshots and details will be from here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/16/transformers-brand-live-stream-for-8-16-22-recap-legacy-studio-series-and-more-463419) (I will host some copies of some of it later today)...
My comments in bold.

• Hasbro teamed up with Royal Mail for TF art stamps
• “Personally approved by Queen Elizabeth II”
• Printed in pairs, retro G1 comics art
• Each stamp has hidden ink that reveals character faction and name in Cybertronian
• 5 Dinobot stamps
• Stamp book with artwork and matrix of leadership case
• Metallic replicas of stamps
• Available to preorder through royal mail (ship globally)

• Transformers Best of the Rarities IDW one shot containing rare issues from IDW TF license
• IDW Shattered Glass trade paperback available
• Shattered Glass II #1 covers shown
• Final issue of Last Bot Standing shown

• Studio Series reveals now
• Deluxe TLK Hot Rod
• Deluxe TLK Crosshairs
• Crosshairs has jetpack and trenchcoat incorporated
• Voyager SS86 Ironhide
• Leader ROTF Fallen
• Fallen turns into Cybertronian spacecraft
• Core SS86 Wheelie
• Core SS86 Ratchet
• Eventual redecos for Core Ratchet to Ironhide and Voyager Ironhide to Ratchet As it was predicted they would.
• Core DOTM Laserbeak disguised as pink Bumblebee
• Core SS86 Rumble (that’s what Hasbro said) This toy is done in cartoon purple/blue, because SS86 is cartoon universe, not toy universe, so has to be called Rumble.
• Rumble comes with blasters AND piledrivers

• Legacy recaps
• Deluxe Pointblank and Peacemaker
• Deluxe Crankcase
• Crankcase’s grill pops off to form gun
• Deluxe Dead End

• Deluxe Skullgrin – Full 360 degree rotation on gun-turrets.
• Lots of design changes were made for the head.
• Regarding Pretenders – Asking the fans whether we want to bring back the shells.
• Voyager Class Predacon Inferno – Big red fire-ant
• Takara Tomy worked on it.
• Comes with the rocket booster.
• Booster spins.
• The blaster comes off.
• Beast mode follows the ‘Kingdom format’.
• Armada Starscream – Regular colored sword (grey) since the color clashed with Star Saber. Official images show a red sword, so it might be grey on the actual toy.
• Twin null-ray cannons with blast effects.
• Voyager Class Transmetal 2 Dragon Megatron Designed by Sam.
• Wings articulate.
• Comes with a fire-breath accessory which doubles as a flame club in robot mode.

• Core Class Bomburst – Pretender Shell Monsterform with Cybertronian vehicle. Very nicely done to hide each mode in the other mode, for a small toy
• Package refresh Core Class Soundwave – Cassette doesn’t transform.
• Original plan is to have Laserbeak’s head to pop out.

Clearer official images of most of the Legacy reveals can be seen here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/15/transformers-legacy-wave-3-deluxe-and-leader-official-images-463365), from Amazon UK, who released them a day too early.
(I will mirror them later today)

And someone already managed to get their hands on the Dead End toy, so we can see some more photos of it here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/12/transformers-legacy-deluxe-dead-end-in-hand-images-463139).

Hasbro Designers have already been on instagram to talk a bit about the design of the new Studio Series Hot Rod and Crosshairs (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/16/transformers-studio-series-the-last-knight-ss-92-crosshairs-and-ss-93-hot-rod-from-screen-to-toy-images-videos-463621)...

SS-92 TF5 The Last Knight Crosshairs
“Love that guy. Goosebumps every time.”
Next up on the reveals today we debuted the all new Crosshairs! TF5 Crosshairs is based on a repurposed design from AOE that saw modifications to the vehicle mode. The licensed C7 Corvette Stingray saw minor body modifications to mimic some of the wider flared details of a Z06, while introducing a new spoiler, canards and an all new livery.
Talk about an impossible design, a lot of the new characters introduced in Age of Extinction didn’t take transformation into consideration when hiding car parts amongst the robot forms. To make matters worse, they introduced a figure wearing a trench coat, turning car parts into pliable clothing.

Yuki Hisashi had a hell of an undertaking in trying to bring this character to life, but I think he succeeded marvelously. This figure is a massive improvement from his premier edition release, and does a great job of modernizing the articulation, and introducing an articulated trench coat flaps to the front of the figure.
Crosshairs includes his iconic submachine guns which can be stowed in his door panels, along with his jetpack that can be found on the upper back. Unfortunately Crosshairs does have a rather sizable kibble on his back due to the entire vehicle form needing to disappear from the robot design.
What are your thoughts on this guy? Does he hit his mark, or miss the target?

SS-93 TF5 The Last Knight Hot Rod
“Bonjour, cheri!”
I am thrilled to finally be able to share (and potentially unspoiled) Studio Series Hot Rod! This figured was an absolute blast to work on, so sit back and enjoy as I blush over this design.
Hot Rod gets a proper figure and vehicle representation by way of his primary vehicle mode for the film, a licensed 2017 Lamborghini Centenario. No repurposed parts, no alt heads, just a true to form figure with phenomenal transformation and articulation.
The Last Knight presented a number of fantastic robot designs, but they in most instances were absent of any of their vehicle counterparts pieces. In the minority, is Hot Rod. He maintains enough of the vehicle mode to make for an ultra compact transformation, with next to no kibble. I was fortunate enough to partner with Tomo Tatsumi on this item, who delivered on all of the complex curveballs that our RI design team, and vehicle licensor through at him.
The vehicle and a majority of the robot mode are clad in a gun metal metallic to help replicate the carbon fiber chassis of the Centenario, and is accented with an orange livery to match the robot panels. I was happy to be able to capture the DRL and tail lamps, along with active aero spoiler in the raised position as seen in the majority of the London chase scenes.
As I mentioned on the stream, this might be my favorite studio series character of the year, at least from the Bayverse. I really hope you all enjoy him as much as I do! What do you all think, will he be joining your collection?

I really really like the look of that Studio Series Hot Rod.

I paid over the odds for the previous deluxe figure and quite enjoyed that, but this looks *real* good.

Bomb-Burst does look interesting but I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting my new Legacy Pretenders to be in the same scale. I think Skullgrin could have worked better as a Core than the deluxe.

Looking at the TFTM Rumble toy next to the TFTM Ratchet toy, I'm guessing his tape mode is still compatible with the Siege/Netflix Soundwave? Anyone seen that confirmed somewhere? I was disappointed with all the WFC Micromaster tapes and wouldn't mind them getting a redo (although not so much at $20 each...)

Yeah, that was such a random choice.
Unless the plan is to eventually give us core AND deluxe class versions of each pretender - which is highly unlikely.

Well, that that's exactly what the leaks still say - that there is also a core class Skullgrin for later this year.

More interestingly, there was some interesting speculation (fueled by the new pictures) about what appeared to be a hinge without any obvious purpose on the front of deluxe Skullgrin that might allow the chest to open (like Soundwave).

Really? Skullgrin specifically? I thought the pretenders were listed in the leaks as "energon monsters" aside from Iguanus.

JJJ
17th August 2022, 04:40 PM
They were. There was a core energon monster listing for this year. Since the leaking of deluxe Skullgrin, the leakers have been saying that this core energon monster is actually core Skullgrin, and that we're getting both.

Mind you, nobody has turned up a product number for this core toy, so who knows what is really happening.

The earliest Legacy listings mentioned a Core SKullgrin. This list is nearly a year old (https://tformers.com/transformers-legacy-leaked-2022-listings-update-possible-classes-waves/43101/news.html) and was fairly accurate - wrong Soundwave and some case assortments a bit off though.

Probably the Skullgrin is the Bomb-Burst?

Just watched the turnaround video for Hot Rod and tbh, I'm even more keen now.

It's a bloody clean robot mode, especially for a Studio Series deluxe car based figure. Too many of those just become cape-formers where you get most of the car body compressing into a backpack/cape thing that sort of hangs off the back. This looks like it actually properly transforms into the figure.

Well, now that we've actually seen Bomb-Burst and not a core Skullgrin, yeah, that's probably the way its gone. Shame, though.

A leak of The Fallen toy just a day before it was officially revealed (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/13/studio-series-rotf-leader-the-fallen-possible-first-look-463159) shows that there is an inner face behind the outer face/mask, to replicate the plot device in the Movie.

If this Rumble is the same size as the first few SS Core class (Exosuit Spike and Shockwave), I can't see it fitting in Siege/Netflix Soundwave, as those cassettes were about half to third of the size.
I guess it means a new Soundwave will be necessary for the SS86 line, especially if they are planning to have more of the cassettes from the Movie.

I agree about there shouldn't be a size difference with the "Pretenders", particularly the ones that were of the same size and series in the original toyline. I wonder if Skullgrin was just too complicated with its engineering to do in Core class size, and had to be upscaled to Deluxe... and the others were maybe too simple to have as Deluxes.

That Bomb-Burst looks amazing!

For me, Bomb Burst was the best of the reveals, followed by Rumble.

Okay... that's surprising. It will be small for a Core Class, even with the added accessories. A 2-pack of (Micromaster) cassettes was $20, but now a single one is also going to be $20.

Mark's comments in the live stream and his follow-up Instagram posts indicate that the Pretenders were a fairly late addition to the line-up once the initial intended figures fell out.

I wonder if the "Energon Monster" tag was supposed to be the intended figures like the Fossilsers - and designed to tie in with the energon weapon theme they have for their figures and that they couldn't make them work as intended so went with Pretenders.

On one hand I'm much more glad we got these pretty amazing Pretenders, but on the other hand I'm wondering what the Energon Monsters were supposed to be and if that then explained some extraneous accessories like Blitzwing's hand turrets.

I love Rumble, and I love how he isn't a 5cm figure without accessories for $20. He looks about 8cm tall, like Spike. So him transforming into the current cassette range size is some nifty engineering.

Edit: Scratch that. Looking at TFW (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/17/studio-series-core-86-rumble-behind-the-scenes-463806#images), he is slightly taller than the Micromasters.

There is some massshifting wizardry with Rumble in that he's taller than the previous cassettes but transforms into the same size. It's neat.

I am totally surprised by how much a little core class Bomburst stole the show. He's fantastic. Skullgrin is the weakest of the Pretenders so far. Interesting that they asked if fans are keen on bringing the shell back.... I mean, heck yeah. However I'd also be interested in how they implement before signing up for it.

Love the little Easter egg for Crankcase's shoulder guns. That's a real nice touch, above and beyond.

Except that the new Rumble is only a matter of mm (half a head) taller than the old (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/ss-86-rumble-behind-the-scenes-info.1236297/#post-20532627).

Since this is studio series, we followed the colors he had in the 86 movie.
This will be a quicker post and I’ll follow up later with the development process posts.

He is about a head taller than the previous siege Battle Master but his tape mode is the same size. This allows for him to work with our Siege Soundwave and Kingdom Blaster.
The posts to connect his blasters are 3mm and those connect on his arms and his back.

His hands fold in so he can wield his pile drivers.

The Hasbro designers came out in force on instagram after those reveals the other day, posting up info on quite a few of the new reveals.

These are some of the Legacy toys...

- Skullgrin (https://www.instagram.com/p/ChXxl3gumjK/) - (the odd one out so far, but the commentary suggests that it needed to be a Deluxe because it was to complex to be a Core)

Legacy Deluxe Pretender Skullgrin was a project challenge that really wreaked havoc on my emotions.
.
Last minute these Pretenders were approved for slots slated for dropped characters. Ever since that old Straxus redeco toy Bill Rawley worked on in 2010, I’ve always wanted a proper Dauros from Super God Masterforce but also utilizing what was done as the original G1 toy. All of that equals an absolutely crucial design challenge in which I was constantly second guessing decisions the whole way.
.
Thank goodness I worked with Yuki san on this guy and his incredible ability to not only design but to advise direction was super helpful.
.
You can see here, in my concept art I worked up for Skullgrin, I wanted to keep some demon features of the character but also combine them with elements of the toy transforming robot. I really do wish I had more time to debate and draw but I felt utilizing existing artwork for the characters alt mode would really help with time and direction.
.
Then comes the engineering decisions on whats really possible to even obtain smooth transformation. Back and forth we went on redesigning this figure step by step to get the end result. Which I’m very pleased with the outcome and I hope you are too.
.
The accessory load out on this guy is unreal. The scale of robot mode I wanted was sort of a pipe dream but he maintains alot of beef and height for a deluxe. He really gives a strong decepticon presence. The colors were another challenge here as you can see some mistakes heppened in production.
.
Other notes are the cybertronian front hover tank duel gun turret blasters are effects compatible and also have alot of versatility with 5mm ports. The duel bone sword energon blasters can be utilized in multiple ways. Please peep my story for more cool tidbits about this super fun figure, in which, I hope you give him a chance to bless your collection, even if he is without his shell!

- Bombburst (https://www.instagram.com/p/ChYOB_fuehv/) - (I'm not a fan of the opening mouth and pig nose... I think the head sculpt should have been closer to the original toy)

Here we have some more photos of Core legacy Bombburst, or Blood if you prefer the Japanese name. Continuing with how we’ve been implementing the decepticon pretenders, we merged the monster shell with the bot alt mode.
This is another Hasui san master piece and it amazes me how well this figure turned out.
The wings are attached by 5mm posts on the sides of the arms and can be stored on the back. There’s some bat wing sculpt detail on the undersides that you can show off if you’re so inclined.
We gave him Gold eyes following the original toy release instead of the animation model’s Red.

- Crankcase (https://www.instagram.com/p/ChU9-v6OHgL/) - (this one disappoints me a little, as the designer really wanted to incorporate the flip-over shoulder cannons, but just couldn't make it work from the Skids mould - considering it started using the Skids mould, there really is very little left of Skids in Crankcase, including the transformation)

Worked with Shu san in Takara on this partial of Legacy Skids mold and we went back and forth an awful lot about the trigger blasters. It was really challenging to fit the blasters with a blast compatibility and we are also wanted to keep the alt mode clean with the blasters hidden. It was a compromise in the end as I really wanted this character. I even had a rendition where the side fender compartments came off on a 5mm post to be added as ammo for the front grill blaster, but since this was a partial mold, we did our best to do the character justice within the cost alotted.
To note the silver op behind the grill was stripped to utilize those ops for the cool two tone decal on the back spare tire.

What a beast of a character this turned out to be. This was an awesome project to have the opportunity to take over from Lenny, and I absolutely loved his vision for what this figure would become. This dragon form is a great homage to the original character, but takes the opportunity to update it with some modern aesthetics to fit in the legacy styling. The Claws of the dragon mode are able to be incorporated into the robot chest, and both the tail and neck feature multi tiered balljoints to allow for maximum articulation. Ejima Takio did an incredible job of bringing this character to life, and to following the initial design plan so closely.
Fun fact, due to the scale texturing applied to the entire model, the characters digital file actually surpasses our Titan and Masterpiece figures in complexity. It’s a rig killer, but that seems fitting for Megatron.
There are a lot of complex colors used across the both modes, and a lot of subtle gradients used to mimic the transitions from the more pearlescent hardened scales to the brighter underbellies. There is a darker shade used as the eyeshadow on the dragons face, and a complimentary gold used on the horns and claws. The overall body is molded in a dark matte metallic red, to help reduce the color discrepancies between the various materials used for molding. His wings are molded in a warmer translucent amber, while the translucent parts are cast out of a stark orange clear ABS.
Lastly there is a 5mm port in the mouth of the dragon to be able to accept the flame accessory. This can be used in both Robot and Dragon mode, and can also be wielded as a club in the figures right hand.

And someone has already managed to get their hands on a Blanker/Pointblank toy (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/19/transformers-legacy-deluxe-pointblank-peacemaker-in-hand-images-463962) (a person I don't think I've seen before, so a new competitor to the stolen toy market).
The gun Peacemaker appears to be a simpler and smaller design to the Siege era Targetmasters, which is a bit strange for the engineering to take a step backwards.

- Bombburst (https://www.instagram.com/p/ChYOB_fuehv/) - (I'm not a fan of the opening mouth and pig nose... I think the head sculpt should have been closer to the original toy)

That's not a pig nose. Bomb-Burst is a vampire, and that's a bat's face, just as it was on the original toy (although this sculpt is closer to an actual bat).

Blanker (or known as Pointblank by just about everyone at Hasbro) has been shown off by one of the designers on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/p/Chcg6n7OhRa/), revealing that a lot of cost cutting had to be done to the toy from its original design, which was too detailed and complex.

Deluxe Legacy Pointblank and his Targetmaster Peacemaker are finally here to hop into your collection! Had to break out my mint Crosshairs to showcase how both of these bots looked together. I had the pleasure of doing the deco for Crosshairs and I was kinda bummed I wasn’t able to get Pinpointer in there. This time around since I lead the design of this guy I thought it was essential to add in Peacemaker. I soon realized how cost challenging it was to include a target master at a Deluxe scale and pricepoint.
The first image is my own redraw concept art of Pointblank and Peacemaker. Ive been really using alot of reference art that everyone already knows and loves, especially with tight schedules, they seem to be great for kicking off the project. You can see the reuse of the comics art alt mode here was perfect to use. I absolutely love this rendition of his cybertronian race car alt mode.

Hasui san took the reigns and made the great suggestion of doing the fin styled head that was never made in toyform. Anything that is in the g1 cartoon is a go for me even if its from the later seasons.

You can see an additional weapon engine accessory was costed out along with a bunch of other comments made to fine tune this guy. Hasui really had so many tweaks in order to fix up this guy, I just couldn’t find a way to showcase them all here. I added my comments to ensure we were aligned on trying to make this the best version of Pointblank ever.
You can see the targetmaster is blast effect compatible. There is elbow swivel on Pointblank for those that have been asking, but the articulation range on this guy really gives you a plethora of posing options and is really fun to tinker with. The arm transformation was a treat and I can’t wait for yall to get these guys!

A lot of the simpler engineering and cost cutting was due to trying to include a Targetmaster accessory at a Deluxe price point.

Knowing now what we got and what we missed out on, I'd almost rather a better Pointblank and Sureshot, then release a core double-pack of improved Spoilsport and Peacemaker, over a compromised version of both Pointblank and Peacemaker in one package.

I'd absolutely choose, in a heartbeat, for them to dump the targetmaster so that the actual Pointblank toy could be better (and meet modern standards).

Yeah.

Really the boat for getting this figure done properly sailed when Hasbro stopped doing the Micromaster/Targetmaster figures.

Behind the scenes for Legacy Voyager Inferno by one of the designers on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch5spk1uq0y/).

This fireant predacon is going to further complete your collection of Kingdoms (Beast Wars)Megatron’s army. I had the great pleasure of working with Takara Tomy’s amazingly talented Tomo san on this item. He really did an awesome job with this guy and I couldn’t be happier for the finished product.
.
Firstly, here is the concept art I did to kickoff this maniac, I did this off memory and I soon realized it was time to dip back into some episodes for further detailed reference.
.
I also had the opportunity to get a zbrush sculpt from our great designer Doug Schultheis. Doug’s one of those secret Hasbro renaissance dudes who is responsible for so many successful products, it was great to have him sculpt this up for reference in tackling the Kingdom aesthetic for the fireant alt mode. Which was obviously very challenging to get all that bot in a slim fireant body, but I do believe Tomo san’s transformation will excite and satisfy your hungry hands.
.
We ended up being able to merge his rocket booster into his energon infused flame thrower weapon, while keeping some serious blast effect compatibility for some ultimate play action. As I mentioned in the livestream his back shell does propel spin around to give him the ultimate accuracy to his animation apperance.
.
The articulation in the jaw just gives you such an incredible range of pose outs and play function, you will also notice his eyes and his mouth has the light pipe feature to really give this guy his red tinted evil energon glow. Once you start yelling quotes from the show as you articulate his jaw, you will really have a hard time putting this figure down.
.
Also to note the package illustration for this heart throb will surely be saved as it came out so sweet!

This new wave of Studio Series isn't being released until December, and yet the main leaker of stolen toys has managed to get both of the Deluxe toys - Crosshairs (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/09/03/transformers-studio-series-ss-92-deluxe-the-last-knight-crosshairs-in-hand-images-464803) and Hotrod (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/09/01/transformers-studio-series-ss-93-deluxe-the-last-knight-hot-rod-in-hand-images-464695). Screenshots are at those two links (I don't link to his videos, which generates money for future purchases of leaked toys).
