View Full Version : Haslab Deathsaurus announced

DELTAprime
28th October 2022, 11:51 AM
The next Haslab figure has been announced. This one is another Japanese character that I'm eager to get. Deathsaurus! It needs 11000 backers for the base level, and other accessories will be available if other goals are reached.

As of yet, I can't find an Australian order listing, but Haslab is taking orders now.

https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/deathsaurus-haslab-up-now-for-17999-with-11000-backers-needed/47306/

Mods, feel free to add mirrored images.

This crowdfunded project will run from October 27, 2022, to 11:59pm ET on December 12, 2022. If successful, the project will begin shipping around Fall 2023 (around September).
.
Deathsaurus: Emperor of Destruction
Transformers fans, now is your chance to bring a legendary rivalry to life. Picture it: the heroic Victory Saber* and the evil Deathsaurus standing off in a larger-than-life battle as part of your personal collection. This is an opportunity you won’t want to miss! This HasLab project re-creates Deathsaurus, inspired by Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers: Victory, as a premium collectible figure for his debut in the Transformers line for the first time in over 30 years.
Straight Out of the Dark Nebula

Deathsaurus has a pretty iconic alt mode, and the team made sure the figure design reflects just how awesome it really is. This figure converts between robot and his powerful griffon-dragon alt mode, with plenty of features befitting the Decepticon warlord, including wing, claw, and jaw articulation. Deathsaurus stands at an impressive 11-inch height in robot mode, to scale with the prior HasLab Victory Saber figure. This figure is animation-accurate and features 30 points of articulation for creating epic battle stances and iconic poses from the anime.
“Chest Attack!”
Deathsaurus has deployed the Chest Animals! Deathsaurus wouldn’t be complete without his iconic Micromaster chestplate beasts, Eaglechest and Tigerchest. Eaglechest coverts between eagle and cassette modes, and Tigerchest converts between tiger and chest piece modes. The cassette-mode Eaglechest figure can fit inside the chest of Deathsaurus. The Tigerchest figure attaches to the Deathsaurus figure as a horned chest piece. Both Micromasters also convert to weapon modes that Deathsaurus can wield in battle! The Eaglechest figure has a 6-inch wingspand and converts to a double-barreled blaster accessory, and the 4-inch-long Tigerchest figure converts to a bow accessory.
Weapons of Destruction
Deathsaurus can’t crush his archnemesis without his iconic weapons! Pose Deathsaurus challenging Victory Saber* on the battlefield with the included sword accessory that the figure can hold. Attach the Tigerchest figure in bow mode and pose Deathsaurus taking aim at his archnemesis with the included arrow accessory. This figure also comes with the classic Death Tailer shield accessory that attaches in alt mode as the tail of Deathsaurus.
TIER 1 – 14,000 BACKERS: “FEEL THE POWER OF THE LIVING-METAL-DESTROYING CANNON!”
The Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon is perhaps one of the most destructive weapons in the Transformers universe. A fully-charged blast from its barrel can erode any metal material, including the living cells of Cybertronian lifeforms. This Deathsaurus figure comes with this signature weapon accessory and his classic spiked flail accessory! Fans can also plug the 6 included blast effects onto the Deathsaurus figure and his weapon accessories. The Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon, spiked flail, and blast effect accessories will be unlocked when the campaign reaches 14,000 backers.
TIER 2 – 17,000 BACKERS: A THRONE BEFITTING THE DECEPTICON EMPEROR
The Transformers team has sculpted an imposing throne for Deathsaurus that reflects his awesome power. This 11-inch accessory features premium deco and details inspired by the throne as seen in the anime. Additionally, we know you want to show off Deathsaurus in the most epic poses imagineable. We’re including 2 stand pieces to allow Transformers fans to showcase Deathsaurus in his most powerful stances. The throne accessory, stand base, and stand arm attachment will be unlocked when the campaign reaches 17,000 backers.

In America (https://hasbropulse.com/products/transformers-generations-haslab-deathsaurus) - us$179.99, so could be the same as Victory Saber if it will be released here.

So, will it get 26000 orders to match Star Sabre?

I got my Star Sabre through Robot Kingdom due to Zing/EB not taking into account (or maybe I'm the one who didn't take into account) the international date line and closing the pre-order a day early.

That said, I'll probably go through Zing this time like I did with Unicron.

Why wouldn't it be available through EB/Zing like all the others? There was even wording in something from Hasbro yesterday that it will be available through the usual Asia & Pac (their terminology) channels. I expect to see it listed next week.

Anyway, Deathsaurus just overtook the declining Ghost Rider Haslab :)

Looks amazing. I’ve already put an order in for one. I know some people don’t like the method or the price and cool for them. I reckon it’ll get the full 17K backers with little worry. Just don’t be one of the people that passes now and regrets it later, plenty of people did that with both Unicron and Star Saber

No reason to think that it won’t be. It will just be the same hefty price tag that SS was, maybe a bit more.

Also, not really sure what’s going on with the morbid curiosity of constantly comparing Deathsaurus to the Ghost Rider car? No matter what site I look on I can’t see more than 3 posts without someone mentioning it. Apart from Hasbro apparently learning some lessons and applying them to Deathsaurus, there’s really no comparison.

That's all it is, morbid curiosity. I don't otherwise care about the Ghost Rider Haslab at all.

How did you place an order? I didn't think that we could order directly from Haslab/Pulse because we're outside the US.

Not that I have the money or inclination, however does it strike anyone else as odd that Hasbro puts a limit of 5 per customer on this?

1. It's made to order, so they can't sell out.
2. The more units an individual purchases, the quicker to fulfilment.

The only thing I can assume is it's a safeguard against someone "ordering" 100 to get to project to fund and then not making good on their order. But if that's the only case, then the 5 limit seems a bit low.

JJJ
4th November 2022, 04:49 PM
That's exactly why they do it, yes. As to why 5... Arbitrary number is arbitrary. At least they're not going with the rule of 3 here :)

True, but it's not clear if that condition is specifically passed on to international partners. But consider that such partners may only need to declare the overall numbers that they will be committing... Or any low tier seller in SEA...

After just one week, the backer number so far is at about 6,000 (https://hasbropulse.com/collections/transformers/products/transformers-generations-haslab-deathsaurus), of the minimum of 11,000 required... but that is about normal, as these sorts of things get a big surge at the beginning, and a surge at the end, so the next few weeks will be a slow increase (depending on how the non-American numbers are added to the Hasbro Pulse site).

12th November 2022, 10:12 PM
TakaraTomy have also listed Deathsaurus for pre-order (https://takaratomymall.jp/shop/g/g4904810210016/), for almost 30,000yen (almost au$350).

And some interesting tidbits from Hasbro designers about Deathsaurus (mirrored here (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/11/08/hasbro-transformers-team-interview-with-ben-maccrae-and-evan-brooks-469808))...

Haslab Deathsaurus

Deathsaurus was originally planned for the Transformers 2023 main line (Legacy) but it was then changed for Haslab due to the success of Victory Saber.
More features could be achieved as a Haslab like a bigger and more appropriate size for the character.
Deathsaurus chest animals were originally planned to be sold as separate Core class toys if they would have stayed in the main line.
They thought fans weren’t so excited with a stand as a tier (as it was with Victory Saber), so they added Deathsaurus’ throne.
A color sample “is coming soon”.

I think they might be, as it was sitting at 6,000-7,000 for a couple weeks up until a few days ago when I last checked it, and it is now showing at over 9,000.

JJJ
22nd November 2022, 07:39 AM
There was a dump of aroud 2400 orders a few days ago, yes. So presumably some international orders, but by no means all - there are plenty of places (such as EB) that are still taking orders. Speculation is that it was from TT Mall, but there's nothing to say either way on that. There should be more dumps presently, because some Asian channels are closing before the Haslab period ends.

griffin
23rd November 2022, 09:59 AM
The previous Haslab items had the numbers submitted each week to the local branch of Hasbro, and I guess they waited a few weeks before starting to add them to the Pulse site numbers... and any new pre-orders will be added periodically before the final cut-off.
Some retailers may close their pre-orders before December 12th, but probably just to make sure they have enough time to get their final figures into their local branch of Hasbro in time to be covered.

It looks like they might have added another bulk of pre-orders, as it is now another 1000 up on yesterday's figure (https://hasbropulse.com/collections/transformers/products/transformers-generations-haslab-deathsaurus), needing just 800 more to make the minimum total of 11,000 for being funded (and then we have to see if it makes it to the extra two tiers, up to 17,000 for the extra accessories).

Yeah, not sure that Australian consumer law applies or can be enforced there.... :p

That said, I agree with Other, it's not "non-refundable" if the item doesn't reach it's goal. It's just if you change your mind after it HAS reached it's goal as then the store is stuck with moving a $179usd item.

ACL applies to any company doing business with Australian citizens, regardless of the country the retailer is based in. Go read up on it and protect yourself against retailers that try to screw you over. Grant it, normally it's places like Harvey Norman you need to protect yourself against, not places like Robot Kingdom.

Anyway, regardless of what RK has written, it's highly unlikely they will ever need to refund a Transformers Haslab project. Deathsaurus is about to reach its goal with plenty of time to spare and I'm sure the next one will be the same.

Final days for pre-ordering the Transformers Haslab Deathsaurus!

Just keep in mind that, even though pre-orders for Victory Saber were taken right until the American listing closed, we can't rely on the same thing happening to Deathsaurus... so even though December 12th is the final day in America (early 13th for us here), don't be surprised if the preoders close here a few days before that, just to be sure that Hasbro Australia gets the final Australian numbers to send to America before the American cut-off.

Hop on over to the EBGames site or store near you (or ZIng, which you can access through this EB link)...

https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/toys-and-collectibles/290201-transformers-generations-haslab-deathsaurus-action-figure

Just remember that you don't have to pay the full amount of $368 when pre-ordering, as you only need to pay a minimum deposit of $50... and pay it off over the next 12 months.

Also, for those who didn't order Victory Saber and now want one to go with Deathsaurus, it looks like the unclaimed and cancelled units are now being listed on the EBGames site for purchase. (check if a store near you has a spare one available, or go to your store to ask if there are some unclaimed units still at the main warehouse to ship out... and be aware that more stock might be added, as more cancellations are likely to occur in this first fortnight of its release)

It’s more a case of people seeing how much VS is selling for and ordering an extra or 4 to flip themselves. Anecdotally I ended up with an extra VS because I ordered one as part of a group buy forgetting I’d already ordered one from EB so I put my name down for 2 Deathsaurus as well.

Starts here on TFW. (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/haslab-deathsaurus.1239054/page-504#post-20872821) Seems to be real.

I'm going to guess that the moulds were made a few years ago, and were a casualty of the failure at retail (well, the purported refusal of certain giant retailers to buy any more of them) of the battle-masters and micro-masters from Siege and Earthrise.

The message from Hasbro Pulse with that image...

“Congratulations! We’re happy to announce that the Transformers Generations Deathsaurus HasLab project has met its backing goal and will officially go into production!
We just learned that the evil Deathsaurus has kidnapped Pīpō and Boater! Good news, Transformers fans! Your overwhelming support of this HasLab saved the two members of the Autobot Rescue Patrol Team from the clutches of the Decepticons!
As a THANK YOU for your support in making the Transformers Generations Deathsaurus campaign our most successful Transformers HasLab to date, each product will include Pīpō and Boater figures seen here:”

A short video posted on youtube by Hasbro Pulse, with the designer Hisashi Yuki talking about its creation...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QIKD59E5Kc

Something interesting - he not only designed the Haslab Star Saber toy (and Victory Leo), but also designed the Masterpiece Star Saber toy (which I think I recall him saying that he regrets not getting a chance to do a Masterpiece Victory Leo to go with it).

I wonder if the other members of Battle/Off Road/Race Car/Air Strike Patrol are floating around somewhere?

If it's like Star Sabre, there should be plenty available online from the likes of Robot Kingdom.

JJJ

There should not need to be a spare though. EB has placed N orders with Hasbro; EB will still receive N orders when production is done. The closure of a single store should never have any bearing on N (and neither should someone voluntarily cancelling their order at this point) - the only change should be whether it is picked up from a different location or posted, and EB should be reaching out to arrange that instead of cancelling.

I'd be contacting EB about this right away. And probably your state's consumer affairs body too.

My nearest store shut down a few years ago, and they transferred the pre-orders to another store, but it messes up something in the system, as it no longer recognises a store that doesn't exist... but doesn't cancel the orders. Just go to the store that is supposed to have them and ask them to verify that they have all of your pre-orders allocated to them, and see if you can take a photo of the list on their screen (if they can't do a screen shot to email you).

Apparently Deathsaurus started hitting US ports 10 days ago (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/haslab-deathsaurus.1239054/page-617#post-21739739).

My EB order now says the expected date is 01/12/2023; I have a vague recollection of it being something different the last time I looked (perhaps just December, or maybe the 31st).

People in the US are receiving messages from Hasbro asking them to make sure that their address is correct, preparatory to Deathsaurus being sent out.

No further change on my EB order.

griffin

Those emails for the US people, have noted November 24th as the date that they have to verify their postal address, so it looks like they will be shipping them out in the last week of November, or in batches over a few weeks after the 24th.
It could mean that ours will be released at the beginning of December, like Victory Leo was last year.

If you ordered in-store, make sure to talk to your store manager and sort out any remaining payments.

EB Games policy is still that "high-end" products need to be paid off in full. Then the manager will email head office and tell them to send your order through to the store.

No, and EB has told at least one person that they still don't have stock from Hasbro (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/australia-transformers-sightings.87156/page-263#post-21878447).

Today is the estimated release day on the EB site.

I will note that the status has now changed from Pending Release to Processed, and the estimated release date is gone and has been replaced with Out Now. But that's just automation on the web site.

It's coming at some point, and I'm just going to sit back and wait patiently, and laugh at a bunch of people on another site going nuts over Hasblow's latest world-shattering debacle...

Nice. Not fussed, but it is nice to have something better than "what, we released it, haven't you got yours?" :)

Also, getting through to the EB Games customer support line is impossible these days as they don't have a queue. You either get connected, or you don't. So seeing an updated date means I don't have to try dozens of times to get through to their CS team.

Also they no longer list their phone number on their site. For anyone that wants it, the number is 07 4800 4084. The way EB Games is downsizing their team makes me think this might be the last item I buy from EB Games. It has the feeling of a company that could collapse at any minute.

That'll be a batch number - mine also has 32791 on it, and it is the similar to the batch numbers seen on other TF boxes; it isn't part of the standard printing, and it is slightly pressed into the surface. And after all there were less than 28,000 orders placed.

Mine was sliced open as well, but not marked.

But I do note that all the photos from the US show a standard Hasbro carton with assorted markings (including clear identification of the contents). Mine was just a plain box. Based on my understanding, there should have been two layers of box, the outer one marked with the magic phrase "ships in own case", or SIOC, and in such cases staff have no business opening them...

Tranceblade
14th December 2023, 10:19 PM
Exactly, "Ships In Own Container"

The postal labels that EB use on the outer for sending to store even have their six digit product SKU and description on them btw, look for a "EB Games only - StarTrack do not scan" or similar section at the bottom

So stores don't need to open these at all

So turns out I didn't get the master carton
The store already opened that, and taped their usual preorder inventory receipt onto the blank inner carton (which they opened). They marked the product box in the process of opening so similar to what happened before with VS.

Different store to where I got VS, so it's gotta be a systematic issue with how these people are trained to process stock, surely.

Basically, they wouldn't provide any concession, they said either accept the (marked) goods or return it for full refund. Customer service said the same thing and refused a request to put me in contact with any other teams like their product team when I asked.

JJJ
29th December 2023, 12:45 PM
Yes, it is a systemic issue. But the problem is that EB does not consider it an issue to begin with. They do not care. Just as Amazon does not care about the state of the box in which an item comes, so long as the item is in good condition.

And I don't see this changing any time soon.
