Awesome! This is the first that I've seen of him in-hand. I'm a sucker for Transformers that look identical in alt-mode (or close to it, like this and Shouki) and seem like a remold but then transform completely differently. Masterpiece Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were fantastic in that way.

I've got the first two Masterpiece Trainbots and I'm so impressed how they turn long, skinny scale trains into bulky robots.

The 200 series Shinkansen does bear stylistic similarity with the 0 series (both were manufactured by the same companies), but they are entirely different trains and both toys are completely different moulds. No shared parts, no shared engineering.

This is what the Trainbots' alt modes look like in real life.

About 2/3 of the train becomes the legs, making the legs by far the most complicated parts of the toy to transform as you have to fold and compact most of the train into become the lower legs. Everything from knee-up is relatively simple, but knee-down is where things get complicated.

Heh. You've made Yukikaze a southpaw!

Opened mine this morning.
First transformation I was able to work out without heading to the instructions or YouTube. The legs were the most frustrating part but I got there in the end. Getting it back to train was far easier than I thought it would be.
It's one of those instances where the first transformation can be a pain but once you know where everything needs to go and joints have been loosened it becomes a breeze afterward.
I'd put Yukikaze as the most enjoyable Trainbot they've done so far.
