This thread was spawn off from kuzzy's Beast Wars RPG thread (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=3067).

kuzzy and I might be getting together for a game of Star Wars Miniatures. It's a very easy and fun game to learn and play so if anyone else is interested PM me.

Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ4BEPGd54g) is a YouTube video review of the game and here (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/139426) is a text review. Here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=starwars) is the official site. Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Miniatures).

Online demo (http://mi.wizards.com/swminis/demo/SW_MinisDemo.html)

Feel free to post any other comments or questions relating to the game in this thread. :)

I thought about organising an online game but it'd be too easy (for the other person of course) to cheat.
I think I'm the only person of the 5 million plus in Victoria that owns this game and figures.

This game would be far more popular if the boosters weren't so damned overpriced. (-_-)

You could just play Warhammer 40k, and Star wars it up. :D

But seriously, At the gamming club of which I'm a member there was a short boom of Starwars minatures, however the game soon died, and the minatures were instead conscripted into a game called Hordes of the Things http://theminiaturespage.com/rules/fan/hott.html, that you can use any minatures for. In order to make armies people bought up cheap Star Wars minis online of the lesser pieces. So now I've seen pitched battles between the Old Republic Sith, Clone Troopers, Gungans, Wookies, and even those guys who live on the Lava planet. If you just want to get use of your figures it might be worth a look, but for the actual Star Wars game I've not seen much of it.

They're still played in game stores here and there - a few of them still run official DCI games, but yeah... it's massively shrunken now. There aren't as many regular DCI league games and tournaments as there used to be afaik. I got a few rare repainted minis and counters that are DCI prize exclusives. The prize-exclusive "Gonk" Power Droid is pretty nice (the regular one is bland).

even those guys who live on the Lava planet
Mustafarians. :)

If they ever released a Force Awakens booster set for SW Minis, this is at least one miniature that I'd like to see included. ;)

did you make that up? nice hehe. he has an official name and back story now.
i actually bought a few rpg books but never played, i was mostly interested in the lore and stuff. i bought a few of the d20 saga edition books and i think a random one here or there, had no idea really where to play and it's been discontinued/replaced now anywhere. i'll just stick with kotor lol.

Yeah, it's my own creation, thanks. :) It is just meant to be a non-Unique character though and not necessarily just FN-2199 (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/FN-2199). :o So theoretically, if this miniature existed, you could field more than one in your squad, and Bounty Hunters wouldn't have any Attack bonus against them. ;)

Saga edition? That's one of the d20 systems?

Probably a moot point for me if you're all the way out at Young.

Uhh I'm in Young (rural NSW) so it probably won't matter where, lol. It is the d20 system. ;)

I'm the DM and I'm having a lot of fun running it, I'm doing a campaign called 'Dawn of Defiance' set a few months after Revenge of the Sith and the party is helping to form the basis of the Rebel Alliance.

It is similar to other d20 systems like Pathfinder and Dungeons and Dragons so if you've ever played them this won't take much getting used too, a bit longer if you've never picked up a d20 before, lol.

I do recommend it though. Very fun, especially for Star Wars fans.

Ok cool. I've never played a pen and paper RPG. I have a basic understanding of the D20 system from playing Kotor 1/2, Baldur's Gate etc. I would like to try it one day but I don't really know where to go or who to play with etc both in general and also because I think it's been superseded by other games/systems.

I would love to get back into playing Star Wars Miniatures (not X-Wing), but alas I don't have anyone else to play with. :(

You should give X-Wing a go if you haven't already though, it's really good. IMO :) If you've already played it though and don't like it thats fine.

I ended up buying the Imperial Assault box set and played a game at a store I found, also joined a couple of facebook groups for it. I'm very, very, verrryyy slowly painting the figures hehe. It was pretty fun and I would like to get more into it.

I have not played it yet, but I play X-Wing a lot, and intend on starting to play Armada, both of which are made by Fantasy Flight Games, the same people that made Imperial Assault.

yeah i know about x-wing and armada, i watched a couple of games of x-wing but i think i prefer the imperial assault style. especially if i can somehow get into a campaign eventually.
