After LCZ128's help in getting some paint and brushes, I've started work on my first kitbash.

Prowl's going to have an "Aussie" look to him, keep watching and all will be revealed in time.
It's all a learning exercise.
This thread is here to help force me to complete it because otherwise I have a habit of starting things and not finishing them :o

jacksplatt11: Not quite. From Spectre's bio & tech specs:
------------------------------------
FUNCTION: GENERAL
"Protect the land and you protect its inhabitants."
At 1.8m, Spectre is the smallest Chainmaster. Observes human culture using a holograph field to disguise himself as human. Loves the land and is protective of its people. Guided by Aboriginal elders, has assumed Chainmaster leadership. Able to use holograph field to resemble any creature or object, or to create dazzling light show to temporarily blind opponents. Uses hypno-chain to inject foes with hallucinogenic techno-venom. Chain is prone to leaking, exposing Spectre to his own venom
Strength: 8 Intelligence: 7 Speed: 5 Endurance: 9 Rank: 6 Courage: 10 Firepower: 8 Skill: 8
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/goktimusprime/Transformers/chainmaster_spectre.jpg
------------------------------------
His colours are "Aussie Green and Gold" - which is what Paulbot was saying he was going to repaint this Prowl in, hence my "Classics Spectre" call. All the Autobot Chainmasters' colours represent Australia.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/goktimusprime/Transformers/chainmasters-1.jpg
I don't think Paulbot intended for this repaint to be a Classics upgrade of any of the Chainmasters, but the "Australiana" colour scheme coincides with them. Perhaps this character could be an ally of the Chainmasters, stationed in the Autobots' Australian base. Just a suggestion. ;D

So he's only about almost 6 feet, man he is a small TF. Guess he's like those mini mercedes cars ive seen having sunday drives around QH. Fits only 1 -2 people and looks really cute and compact.:D So basically as well his line of defense is to make drug junkies of his foes.... guess he'll loose to injector who is used to getting a high :D:p

That's AWESOME!! I like how you're using a totally unique TF alt mode (and one that HasTak desperately needs to tap on!). I'm curious to know how you're going to make a roof-mounted sign light... will you custom make one, transplant from a taxi toy/model or repaint/retool Prowl's strobe rack?

Not to put down Hasbro, but this profile and concept knocks their recent output right out of the park. Best original recolour in a long time.

Thanks guys. Goktimus, not sure how I'm doing the taxi lights just yet, that's probably going to be the hardest thing.
Here's another progress shot with the bits all back together:

oooh so then he'll be your Acquisitions mascot ei Paulbot? Like Nightfall is to me, and Purry is to dirge? For the taxi lights you could try them model taxi lights from hobby cars. cant wait to see how you'd do with the checkered yellow and green detail pattern at the door. The Bio was brilliant!:)

CARP!
I lost my post! <_<;
I was going to say that I love the tech spec you've already done and that I'm totally looking forward to what you do next to this sucker :D
How fun is painting, aye? :D
Also really impressed with how fast you've churned this out :)
Keep us posted mr. paul! :D

I can't decide if his torso should be green or left black.
My first thought was that the front bumper would be yellow (as in my colour guide that appears on the tech spec). But although Victorian Taxis do have yellow front bumpers it might look a bit odd on a toy.
I think that the current look is not bad with a good even mix of the colours and adding more green or more yellow might be too much.
There's still touch ups a plenty to do, and although I was quick I was a bit sloppy :o but as I said it's all part of the learning. :)
I'd say its about 60-70% complete.

how you planning to do the boxes on the sides?
And I reckon you can definitely go green with the bumper - or just go with what you wanted originally and go the yellow :) It's a lighter colour - easier to correct if you don't want it later :D

Looks great. I think you should make the bumper yellow like the mock up you did on the tech-specs.
I'd love to get a look at him in alt mode.

+1 it would look so monotonously boring if its all green and yellow with nothing to break it up here and there. Just don't go for blue:p;)

My masking of the windows didn't work that well, and because I'm not the patient sort there's some sloppy paint, but in general I'm happy with how it came out.
Vehicle mode is coming along. I need to find a taxi light (so I have play-doh as a substitute for the moment! :o ) but I'm in no hurry because I'm really pleased with how the robot mode has come out.

For a first that's a handy start, just needs a little finesse :)
I wasn't too sure on the green and gold scheme but the black and the checks tie it together.
For the light use styrene sheet, draw up a pattern then make a box. Carve and sand to shape. That's how I would make that bit.

Nice. I can't sculpt to save my life, but if you're willing to work on your sculpting skills (maybe practice some more with Play-Doh) then perhaps you could scratch-build your own custom roof-light with Super Sculpey. :)

Sculpey would work, its what I used to make my then Bludgeon's Kabuto helmet. of course you have to bake it to the right temp and timeframe.

Super Sculpey sets at room temperature, no baking required. It costs more than Sculpey though. ;)

Incorrect!
Super Sculpey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sculpey)(super sculpey, like sculpey, is under the 'classic' line that-) also requires baking to harden. If it sets at room temperature, all the stores that stock it would be stuffed as it's not a two-part mix!
Other materials like miliput (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milliput) or aves fixit (http://www.avesstudio.com/html/fixit_sculpt.html) do set at room temperature, but have to be mixed (2-part) before you start sculpting - after about 2 hours it'll be a lot tougher, but requires a good 24 hours to get it solid. :)
I use both (super sculpey & milliput) and both have its uses :)
Paulbot : If you need me to hook you up with some, give me a shout :D - I also have styrene sheets if you need :)
GoktimusPrime
25th January 2009, 10:48 PM
Really? I could've sworn that I've used Super Sculpey before and it set at room temp... maybe it was milliput and I'm just confusing the two. Gah. Ah well. :p
