Much better than the Botcon one but I have so many releases of this mold that I am not sure if I should justify one more.

If any Transformer deserves a clear repaint, it's Mirage... and Lio Kaiser.

But this news interests me more:

Contrary to speculation, these are not an expanded edition of the original Transformers Generations but a completely new work, with volume one covering the very latest releases in Japanese Transformers, including 25th Anniversary items like Disney Label, Masterpiece Grimlock and Alternity, in addition to a complete listing for all of Transformers Henkei.
That's it - I'm getting this book! :D

hmmm as a Binaltech line?
That's incorrect. According to their source (http://www.millionhero.jp/tfg2009/g01.html) it's being released as part of the "Gentei! Gentei!" line - which is basically Henkeis released as limited exclusives ("Gentei" is the Japanese term for an exclusive toy and obviously rhymes with Henkei).

How do I get one?!
The source says that you need to purchase Transformers Generations Vol.1 in order to get the toy - I'd say it's a lucky draw figure like G1 Primus (http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/f/f4/GodPrimus2.jpg) (which was a lucky draw figure that you could only get by submitting a form that came with the book).

I seem to be the only person who thinks it looks ugly... (shrug)
I am a fan of transparent TFs, but not when it is only part transparent. It just looks half-assed, or an incomplete prototype.
The robot mode looks okay I guess, but the vehicle mode looks wrong having clear wheels and solid car body.

Pity about the book not being a new version of the original Generations. It's misleading if they call it Generations. They should call it the 2008/2009 archive, or whatever the one was called released in 2007 that covered most of the toys from that year.

Yeah so? Trust me, if it's anything like its forerunners, even if you can't read Japanese it's an AWESOME book. :) Transformers Generations and Transformers Generations Deluxe have professionally photographed pictures of every Transformer toy from G1, G2 and Machine Wars.

Or you could wait for Hasbro to licence an English translation, but considering that they haven't even done it for the original Transformers Generations book (and that was published 9 years ago) I wouldn't bet on it. ;)

I had a good look at it and I agree with you (Before I quickly saw the robot mode thumbnail and thought it was all clear). It's not worth getting if you already own several releases of the mold.

Yes you don't buy the original Generations for the words. Although an English translation would be heaven the book is perfectly great for a non-Japanese speaking person (and there is some English in it, for instance all the US toys have their English name listed).

Pictures in the original book alone were more than worth the money. :)

wow clear plastic transformers look plain, glad it will be packaged in vehicle mode and in the henkei style packaging, and why are autobot henkei deluxe boxes smaller than Decepticon ones ...

Hence why it's a limited exclusive release. :p

Henkei Convoy and Megatron's boxes looked about the same size to me. Ligier is a deluxe so understandably the box would be smaller than a Voyager's.

Looks pretty neat, and yet another Henkei Exclusive I will not be able to get.
There has to be a limitation to what can go in Vol 1 of the book, as they can't spoil the whole year worth of releases (espy with the movie)...

what if only their outer cases were transparent :P

Transparent TFs do nothing for me

Agreed. There are a few that do things for me but they have to qualify:

1.) Good mold
2.) Good character
3.) Good transparent coloured plastic choices.

This satisfies the first point and the second but it sorely misses on the third. The black lacks contrast and doesn't bring the character out at all.

(Though I may get it yet as my disposable income is about to be finally be unleashed again :o)

Actually, it is saying it is being released in a similar fashion to what happened in the Binaltech line.
Mirage (or Ligier for the picky ones) is in both the Binaltech and the Henkei, and he is being released in a similar colour scheme

Yes you don't buy the original Generations for the words.

I am overwhelmed with a sense of "meh" - we've seen enough of this mould really, and enough Mirage/Ligier versions. The book is more interesting (:

I think Fun-Pub's BotCon 07 Mirage better achieved the 'transparent Mirage' concept. The darker blue meant it lost a lot of detailing, but at least it was a more uniform colour to match the solid plastic that is necessary within the mould (for load-bearing of parts).

i've already placed my order for both the book and the figure, so it can't be a lucky draw prize. from what i understand the bloke i'm getting them off cuts the barcode out of the inner flap of the book cover and sends it off with the order form to buy the figure.

GoktimusPrime

As fatbot said, you need to purchase the book and send in the barcode with the order form attached. The bar code is on a separate "wrap-around" so don't worry, you don't need to mutilate the actual book cover to cut the barcode out. :)

i got mine though blackgears, a bloke in japan, i've gotten a few things off him before. he's doing everthing, buys the book, snips out the barcode and obtains the toy. you can get either the book or the toy or both

Maybe we should do a group order with blackgears heh. It's not much more than what we paid for Henkei Thrust/Dirge. Seems to me more work will be involved so I find it reasonable. :)

Wa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Gotcha! This looks promising, although I get the feeling that it won't be such an important book as Generations. Seems to be current and not looking at the older stuff. ALthough the different Volumes look promising.

Woot! ANother for my Book collection!
