I have been collecting on and off since the begining but some stuff was sold or broken and I know my collection isnt huge. 150-300?
Not worring about counting methods ill pick one, I just wonder should I make a database or write a list or just count.
Or do I even need to know, who doesn't count their Transformers?
Thanks

I dont count mine, it would be take too long and I imagine very dull.

I don't count mine but if I did it would only be 30 or so at most, I don't count out of laziness and the fact I don't care

I pretty much just have a folder on my PC with pictures (from various sources) of the figures I want. When I get them I move them into a Haves folder.
Keeps it easy to count them

I started 3 spreadsheets ( Autos, Decept, others) of the TFs I have when they reached around 300. Just so I don't loose track of what I need ( figure/parts wise). Its mainly arranged basically by series and faction. G1 first of course and so on. When I do insert a newly acquired bot I just insert it in the last as per series. Ive set an automatic adding formula at the bottom of the column for "how many" ( as I do have multiples) so it just updates automatic on how many I have. It does pay to make a list , keeps you focused on what to get, but if your not into a lot of series anyways - eg your only after MAsterpiece and G1, then it can still be helpful as a quick database for your personal reference.

I'm using a spreadsheet too. A fairly complex one with a lot of fields but that allows me to get all sorts of stats on the collection from monthly expenditures to how many per line, how many of each line in each year etc. It's a a great tool if u have a large collection.

Last month I did start to keep track of spending and put the first 2 years of G1 in the same spreadsheet. I think I may continue with it. I like the wants folder idea too.
Thanks

Don't do anything to keep track of my collection. Everything I buy has to go on display around my other stuff in my computer/ music/ toy room... I only have around 50 or so and have 10+ optimus primes (or re-colours).

I have a written list (lets me see the order I got them in), and a checklist on my collection webpage (to know what I don't yet have). Plus, I also want to have a spreadsheet list to be able to re-sort according to different info on the listing (like price, where it came from, when it was bought, when it was released, etc). But that would take weeks to do with my collection now...

I have built a website intended for public use for exactly this purpose. It's currently going through some private testing, but should be available to the entire board soon.

I've got a fairly simple spreadsheet, with name, date I got the toy, where from and how many I have (if that's the case). It's evolved over several years but has stayed easy to maintain.

Thats what I started to do, but got lazy.
When I move again, I will display them all and take photos as I go.
Gonna make up an Excel doc to catalogue what I have and whats missing from em.

I don't keep track of mine, seeing as my goal is to collect all TF's I like rather than all TFs I can usualy recall what I've got. Also I like that aura of mystery..just how many TFs do I have?? Plus my collection is small (compared to some).

I used to have a spreadsheet, but it got out of date real fast.
So I created another based on what I had in storage - broken down to what was in each master box in storage.
So far it is working very nicely.
I do need to sit down with my collection and enter them into Jay's website as well, but I suspect it will be out of beta testing by the time I get around to that.

I use a spreadsheet based on series and the list alphabetically within, with links to photos in each mode, packaging, etc. Once day I will scan the instructions and link them too. One day...

The iTFDB is now open to all here. I don't want to post the register link, so please PM me if you're interested.

Same here. I don't eat food i don't like so why collect TF's i don't like? Although my collection is only small at the moment, it's not hard to tell if one's missing.

I pretty much remember every transformer I have, but recently I've been filling out a little note book on every american released tf and ticking them off as I get them

i'm starting to use jays' website collecting thinghy, it's pretty good, mainly because most of the G1 figures i have are already listed, and it's very easy to add any character that is missing.
