Does anyone else only collect Megs & Prime ?

I've always loved transformers as a kid, seeing someone who had G1 Prime in the school yard had me so jealous, but our family wasn't well off, so toys were a rare thing to get let alone a transformer.

I only started late last year when MP-4 were at Target, once i had prime, it felt wrong not to have his counter part, so i grabbed MP-05 off these forums.

Now Alternity prime is just around the corner, i don't know if i should get Megs as well as his head.... well is somewhat enlarged.

Thats just me rambling, but i'm just wondering if there is anyone else who only collects Prime & Megs

Unlike VIC ownership of gun Transformers is legal in NSW as long as we have the permit from the NSW Police Firearms Registry and the toy(s) is stored under legal compliance.

A small majority of my collection is optimus prime. i have most but some i didnt bother with because they were just to gimmicie.like Energon optimus prime with his (mini primes).quoting hotshot from the series i think.and he looked like he had stacked on a few kilos with the way his new body looked. i notice you dont have any beastwars or beastmachines optimus prime in your collection.or maybe i just cant see them..i generally only collect autobots but thats just because i have my favorites and they tend to be autobots. cant wait for classic hound with ravage.my 2 favs

Yeah - his nickname in the fandom is "Fatimus Prime." ;) He's also known as "Power Rangers Prime" because his gimmick is so reminiscent of the Power Rangers' Zords when they combine. :p

I assume that was directed at me. Optimus Primal and Optimus Prime are two entirely different characters. Having said that, Optimus Prime was technically released in Beast Wars as "Convobat" which is the Basic bat version of Optimus Primal. In Anglophone continuity bat Primal is Optimus Primal, but in Japanese toy continuity Convobat is a different character from Convoy (Optimus Primal) - Convobat's tech specs specifically states that he is an upgrade of Optimus Prime. Likewise Megalligator's (JP crocodile Megatron) tech specs states that he is an upgrade of G1 Megatron. I have CD-ROM Convobat (http://www.c-player.com/_images/archive/d011E3DI9OFUKEHFO2BDO2ATTOCST7OLUMKLK3TRNIO9SDH95K ULEMK/large) pictured there - he's standing in the middle of Softimus Prime, Alternators Prime, MP Convoy, Grand Convoy and Cybertron Optimus Prime. ;)

I have Basic Optimus Primal vs Megatron as well as regular Convobat vs Megalligator - toywise they're identical. So I personally view them all as Optimus Primal and BW Megatron, but since CD ROM Convobat and Megalligator bear very distinctly different colours, I consider them to be the "true" Beast Wars Optimus Prime and G1 Megatron over their regularly coloured Japanese counterparts.

ive always considered optimus primal to be optimus prime and they just changed there names to suit the enviroment, like maximals and predicons.it was one of those things that did bother me in the series when they introduced optimus prime in the ark.so if hes not optimus prime who is he and how do's he come by primes face and name because,same as megatron. i always thought that the time line for beastwars was set somewhere after (about 500 to 1000 years) the original series but set in prehistoric earth. :confused::confused:

that is correct but both Optimus Primal and Megatron took there names from there anciesters i.e. Optimus Prime and Megatron im pretty sure thats right i know thats right for Megs not 100% sure with Optimus though

Totally awesome. I love group pictures of the same character. I'm amassing an Optimus Prime collection myself, which is looking pretty decent so far. So one day I will acquire what I'm missing. Red and Blue of Optimus always makes me happy.

cant argue with you on that..i think ill give the Japanese beastwars a miss.i just watch the first episode. i would rather spend my time downloading bleach.it reminds me to much of kimba the white lion and Astor boy.lio convoy looks like kimba and longhorns powers look a lot like Bruton.i wish the japanese would be original for once.

I don't collect them exclusively, but they are among the only characters I collect fairly diligently. During the movie, they're the only characters I bought the Legends versions of.

Tabias: you're not missing out on much by not watching the Japanese BW series - they're not very well written. But we did get some nice toys from those series - especially in BW Neo. The ending of Neo (Blentron arc) is the only part worth watching when (Spoiler) Unicron attacks Cybertron, leaps into Vector Sigma and possesses it in an attempt to transform Cybertron (his ancient enemy) into his new body! Lio Convoy and Big Convoy's Maximals all unite to fight Unicron with Lio Convoy and Big Convoy combining the power of their Matrices to defeat Unicron. I have no idea how to get eps in Australia though... I have eps on NTSC VHS taped off TV (alas I don't have the facilities to copy NTSC VHS - and these eps have no subtitles).

It's kinda like this...

A. The Great Autobot-Decepticon War ended with the signing of the Pax Cybertronia treatise. The Autobot and Decepticon factions are formally disbanded with most of them going into retirement or being reformatted as Maximals and Predacons.

B. By the time of Beast Wars they had created the "Maximal Upgrade" - and evolution of Micromaster technology allowing Transformers to be more fuel efficient (but much smaller in size).

C. An uneasy peace exists between Maximals and Predacons for the next 300 years with Predacons feeling that they're grossly under-represented and marginalised in Transformers society.Spoiler: It is part of Unicron's plan to maintain disunity amongst the Transformers - as per the purpose of the Transformers' creation by their god Primus. Unicron has seeded several agents amongst the Transformers populace.

D. Several Predacons are bitterly disappointed and turn rogue. One of them is a Predacon who names himself "Megatron" after the great Decepticon leader. He travels to prehistoric Earth and begins the Beast Wars.

Optimus Primal is also not Optimus Prime. He is a Maximal who are descendants of the Autobots. Many Maximal leaders have heads which resemble Optimus Prime as a tribute to the Autobot leader, but none of them are him. Animators put a mouth on Optimus Primal in the cartoon to help further distinguish him from Optimus Prime. In Beast Machines Primal looks nothing like Optimus Prime.
