Again TNA WTF?!?!? The Motorcity machineguns losing to Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed! What a joke.

Oh yeah and the main event had such potential yet Russo's inability to write and Samoa Joes lack of charisma stuffed up another potentialy great card. Kurt's head cut was pretty bad. Must of it one of the bolts on the ladder or something.

Pulse

I thought one of the reasons Kurt left Vince was so that he wouldn't get injured as much again...

Burn
12th August 2008, 08:52 PM
Kurt didn't leave, he was forced out because he wouldn't slow down.

Vince and Co. were concerned that with all his injuries and Angle's constant desire to push himself they were afraid of losing him like they did Eddie.

So even after forcing time off onto him it still didn't slow him down so they released him in the hopes that would stop him, but he turned around and went straight to TNA.

Which wasn't THAT bad really as TNA works on a much reduced schedule.

And if you think the MCMG's losing was bad, wtf were they thinking with the Dutt/Lethal "stipulation"?

"Both men are chained together wearing tuxedos, the chain can be used as a weapon. To win the match you must either pin your opponent or strip your opponent of their tuxedo".

ugh .... TNA. Gimmick overload. How the wrestlers keep up with what sort of match they're suppose to be wrestling amazes me.

Kurt & his injuries... :(

& then they take his frequent injuries & turn them into a storyline...

I'm talking about this staged bloodbath (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGBKC_3O6d8&feature=related) & the finish from Kurt's & AJ's Hard Justice match...

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles defeated Kurt Angle in a truly epic Last Man Standing match after hitting a top rope DDT on Angle - and the Olympian was unable to beat the 10 count. After the bout, paramedics came in to examine Kurt... " quoted from the TNA Website

(I've been searching for a vid/pic of the top rope DDT to illustrate just how nuts it was but I can't find one)

It looks like Kurt's got a deathwish or something... :(

Welcome to the wrestling thread Mixmaster. If you like you wrestling full of gimmicks, quick little guys whos timing is just off or main eventers that are past their prime, have man boobs or need to slow down and rest so the can actually perform at 100% then TNA is the show for you.:p

That being said as you can tell from my posts I love The Motorcity Machine Guns and am extremely peeved that they were forced to job to jobbers last sat nite.

I found this (http://www.bollyspice.com/view.php/1563-saif-lara-and-darsheel-win-rajiv-gandhi-awards.html) through PWTorch

What about the drivel in the second paragraph?

"WWE wrestler The Great Khali will also be awarded a 'Super Achiever Wrestler par Excellence Trophy.' This fine young man of 387lbs (174kg) is a power lifter with extensive experience in serious wrestling styles such as Graeco-Roman, aikido, judo and kalari - as well as entertainment-oriented styles such as Japanese Pro and WWE. A former Punjabi policeman, he was Mr India in 1997 and 1998. He will soon be seen in the movie Ramaa - The Saviour with Tanushree Dutta and Sahil Khan."

How could anyone be proud of Khali? All he ever will be is a bloody Freakshow! *sigh*

Burn
15th August 2008, 09:30 PM
We've only seen his WWE stuff. Before that he did a lot of stuff in India and as probably the only Indian to achieve big "success" in the WWE he's also practically regarded as a national hero there.

There really is more to the guy than just what we see.

Scattershot

I know I'm not like most Smarks but I just can't stand it when a stiff, freakshow like Khali who couldn't work a realistic-looking match if his life depended on it takes a roster spot away from another up-&-coming rassler who just has so much more potential...

Personally I'd rate Khali as being nearly as bad as...

Anyone else catch this?

Soon after the start of the Wilde/Hemme match there was a quick flash on the screen, split second subliminal type thing. Paused it in the right spot.

Black background, white writing.

whoissuicide.com (http://www.whoissuicide.com/)

It then links to a MySpace page. Looks like another "monster" type character coming to TNA.

Guess Russo is running out of original ideas. Booker is playing a part similar to his King Booker gimmick, Kip "Billy Gunn" James is back to his Chuck and Billy gimmick, and Davari is the new Hussan.

For one of the "big four" PPV's of the year, Summerslam lacked a bit.

I expected more from Hardy/MVP. This could be a good feud if they really run with it, but the match didn't really do what I was expecting.

Glamarella/Kofi-Mickey was what I expected it to be, a run of the mill match with a few shits and giggles from Marella thrown in.

Hardy/Henry for the ECW title I completely missed because I was playing with my nephew.

Punk/JBL I caught bits of, looked like a pretty good match though that GTS at the end was pretty unconvincing. Good that Punk won though.

HHH/Khali was also what I was expecting, a filler feud for HHH until a better opponent comes along. Nothing spectacular about this match.

Cena/Batista was time to hit the shower. Sorry, but I can't watch Batista wrestle, throw him in the mix with Mr Five-moves-of-Doom and the fact it was getting late after a long day at work, well I wanted to be awake for the Hell in a Cell.

Which of course was the match to watch. I expected a bit more carnage but in the end it really cemented Edge as one of (if not the) top wrestlers in the business today. I've loved his transformation in the last few weeks into a complete and utter psycho, and now that he's been "sent to hell" I can't wait to see what will become of him now.

All in all, a fairly mediocre ppv.

So tough question.

Who's the lamest? Vince Russo and all his gimmick matches in TNA, or Mike Adamle and his "Adalme Originals"?

I really have to believe it's Adamle coming up with these stupid stipulations because there's no way a McMahon could come up with something that stupid.

This week's Raw "gauntlet" match. It wasn't explained, and it seemed to me he made it up on the spot, sure, he was trying to screw over Jericho but it was that badly done.

Back to TNA ... always been a fan of Booker T, his King Booker gimmick in WWE was annoying and I was hoping to see the old Booker in TNA, and we did for a little while. But this whole "Rich African" thing he's got going, bloody awful. And to basically sit there on camera and say "yes, I hunt elephants for their ivory tusks" ... ugh. Who's writing this stuff and why is he going with it?

Exactly. It was so stupid. Of course it favoured the second contestant. Adamele needs better mic skills. He can't build suspense (something a good gm should be able to do) and like you said Burn he can't explain, not just the gauntlet match but anything.

I remember his first fight in K1, and instead of touching gloves he just hit his opponents hand away. I know they are there to beat each other up, but he could show a bit of sportsmanship...

I haven't seen the fight against Couture yet, but in all his previous ones all he seems to do is rush his opponent and use his size to beat them down. I'd love someone like Aerts or Cro-Cop to just smash him :D

But yeah, I would've expected Couture to destroy him

Haha yeah I checked it out before. From what I can gather, Couture always knew he was out sized and was just trying to wear Lesnar down, it was just a matter of time until Lesnar landed a punch/elbow or two and then it was all downhill for Couture from there.

Geez I hate Lesnar, don't ask me why but I just do...

Looking back on the way in which he left WWE, Sure Vince is a #%*@$! but the way in which Lesnar was built up & invested in and then he proceeded to leave it high & dry - that's wrong...

errr last I checked Raw had Jillian, Mickey and Beth, all of which worked their way up through the Indy circuit and actually had training before getting their jobs.

The only decent wrestler on Raw's list is Jillian. Beth is totally useless (seriously, she's almost as bad as Khali) and Mickie is just a botch festival who hasn't wrestled a single decent match since her feud with Trish Stratus ended. Candice was good before her injury but she needs more time to shake off that ring rust that has impeded her recent matches. And the less said about Kelly Kelly the better.

Now let's look at Smackdown's list- Michelle, Victoria, Natalya, and Maria. In the past year, all four of these ladies have shown far better in-ring ability than anyone on Raw's team. Maryse is pretty crap, but as Smackdown's worst diva she's still better than Raw's worst diva.

I think you'll find both sides are evenly matched between "real wrestlers" and bimbos with pretty titles banging 'Taker.

See, I don't get why people always whinge about Michelle only getting a title because she's banging 'Taker. Can you honestly watch her matches and conclude that she's not one of the top 3 female wrestlers in the entire company?

Here's the news.

----------------------
Famed US pro wrestler Randy Savage dies in crash
Reuters
Sat, May 21, 2011

FLORIDA, USA - US professional wrestling great "Macho Man" Randy Savage died after a car crash on Friday near his home in Seminole, Florida, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The colorful former champion -- known for his husky voice, gaudy costumes and "oooh, yeah!" catch phrase -- appeared to have lost control of his 2009 Jeep Wrangler at 9:25 a.m. local time, crash investigators said.

He drove over a concrete median into oncoming traffic lanes before crashing head-on into a tree and later died of his injuries at a nearby hospital, a crash report said.

He was 58.

While some media outlets quoted his brother as saying the retired wrestler suffered a heart attack while driving, the Florida Highway Patrol said that could not be confirmed until an autopsy is performed.

The crash was not alcohol-related, authorities said.

The wrestler, whose legal name was Randy Poffo, and his wife, who was a passenger in the car, were both wearing seat belts. His wife was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Once a minor league baseball player, Savage rose to fame as "Macho Man" in the 1980s in the World Wrestling Federation, now known as the WWE (WWE.N). He was considered a charismatic and athletic performer in the choreographed world of professional wrestling and he held numerous championships.

He was "an iconic figure," said hall of fame professional wrestler Dusty "The American Dream" Rhodes on Friday.

Under contract with the World Wrestling Federation from 1985 to 1993, he competed against fellow stars including Hulk Hogan, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and Jake "The Snake" Roberts. He later was a star in the World Wrestling Federation's now-defunct competitor World Championship Wrestling.

His entrance music was "Pomp and Circumstance" and his signature accessories were sunglasses, bandannas and colorful cowboy hats.

His father Angelo Poffo and brother "Leaping" Lanny Poffo also wrestled professionally.

"WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of one of the greatest Superstars of his time," read a statement posted on the WWE site on Friday. "Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends."

Savage in recent years lent his voice to characters in animated movies and TV shows.

Apparently Richter not only left the arena but also caught a flight out of New York still in her wrestling gear she was that pissed off. She didn't speak to Vince McMahon until she was asked to be inducted into the hall of fame this year. Long time to hold a grudge.

I agree, I remember her in the late 90s/early 00s still being able to take a bump which was truly impressive - She doesn't look any younger though in that clip. :p

Well she did beat Moolah originally and was a big part of the Rock 'n' Wrestlin of the 80's which helped put WWF on the map.

Or Vince just uses the hall of fame to apologise to past wrestlers he's pissed off.

No I remember Wendi Richter in her prime but like now I've never been a fan of female wrestling. I was a fan of the mass of tag teams in the early-mid 80's in the WWF. Brittish Bulldogs and U.S Express were particular favourites.

Naturally I didn't like The Dream Team:p

I'd say it was Vince's to further push Lesner -what's better than defeating the man who was 21-0 on the biggest stage of them all? Ive been a lifelong fan & to see his streak come to an end was dissapointing to say the least

ITZTRU
5th June 2014, 04:55 PM
There are hints of Jericho's return but it will only be to further push talent. Not for any kind if title run I don't imagine.

As for taker's streak - if you happened to watch WM XXX, the reaction of the crowd on TV does not nearly reflect the reaction of the crowd in the stadium that night. Hearing 3/4 of the crowd in the arena turn silent and the amount of jaws you could just about hear dropping to the ground was surreal.

Still. As much as I like Lesnar, pushing Lesnar by giving up the streak doesn't make any sense and would be poor judgement on Vince's part if what you say/think is true. There are talks of taker actually wanting Lesnar to be the one to end the streak. If that's true, then who is anyone else to argue?

I just hope that if The Shield completely disintegrate then Triple H doesn't get his shovel out and bury them all individually and we never see them again because I think they all very talented. Reigns definitely has the talent to be a top tier wrestler, Rollins is very gifted athletically and Ambrose has great stick work.

mmm I just youtubed the shield and their finishers...the only member with a good finisher is Ambrose.

Reigns looks like a cross between Edge and Rhyno. Even has their finisher albeit the Gore being slight a variation of the spear.

Rollins finisher is laughable. A flying knee? I saw his Scissor Kick/Axe Kick setup of it and man does it look bad! Makes the Attitude Adjustment look good >.<. I know wrestling has a history with bad finishers but they usually have good setups (The people's elbow, Hogan's leg drop, Edge's Spear, etc)

I guess it kinda looks like the fame-asser. I just got kinda confused with the "knee" description. He kinda just stomps on the back of the head and smashes the head down to the mat.

Sting has signed a limited appearance deal. He has 6 appearances on his contract and they already used the first one at Survivor Series. The last would be Wrestlemania or post Wrestlemania Raw.

Good luck building a decent Wrestlemania storyline with only 5 (or 4 if they use him after WM) appearances left.

He's not. However Dana White has said because Punk is 0-0 he would be getting a fighter with only 3 or 4 fights for his first fight. Green Ranger would be the biggest draw they could use however it might become a bit of a circus which is something the UFC is trying to avoid.

Anyone here use the WWE Network? I signed back up to it because I heard Sting is back, I watched Survivors Series to see his return and then went to watch Raw and it's not on there. They haven't even got the episodes leading up to SS on the Network. Whats the deal with the normal shows not being on the WWE Network right away?

I have the WWE network. That being said I don't watch current WWE content as it is sub par IMO. The Monday Night Wars series is very interesting.

So I just got Foxtel on last week.

Back in the day I was an Austar customer and would watch WWF Raw Is War on Fox Sports. If memory serves that was a 90 minute show (probably because they cut out a ton of ads). So how the hell is it now a 3+ hour show that also has a bonus pre-show? This reeks of WCW Monday Nitro.

All the Hogan press has made me relapse. I haven't watched since the end of the Attitude era (aka the best era) Can anyone give me the cliff notes so I can catch up on the man drama?

-So far I've figured out that Undertaker (yay, my fav) was jobbed to Brock Lesner (boo) and aint happy.
-Cena looks like the new Rock albeit very family friendly, seems like a bro though.
-Some Goldust-esc dude wants to fight the green arrow from TV?
-HHH is the new Vince?
-Chick wrestlers are way hotter.
