View Full Version : How much time a day do you spend here?

Something I've been meaning to post for a while now, after realising that I spend more time each day here than I really want to (which means I don't get to spend much time doing anything else, or even get out of the house much).

It would also give me an idea of something I was also thinking about (which relates to some people getting worked up or depressed over the occasional negative issue here) - how many people here use this fan-forum as their only online community? If you end up spending most or all of your online time here, it would end up affecting you more, emotionally, if anything upsets the balance. This could well be like a 'second home' to some, so changes or disruptions can be something difficult to adapt to or ignore. Like having to share a house with someone you don't like, but you don't have any convenient 'accomodation' alternatives, and you'd miss the neighbours too much...

So, how much time do you spend here each day (approximate, average, estimate).

- 6+ hours per day - you read pretty much everything, and this is really your only online interaction with others, and most of your (online/real) friends are here.
- 3-6 hours per day - you read and post a lot, and probably don't interact much anywhere else while online.
- 2 hours per day - you keep track of most current stuff in the 'world of Transformers according to Ozformers'.
- 1 hour per day - you check a lot of the current stuff, and topics here.
- Less than an hour per day - you still stop by most days, but to check to see if you have any messages, and maybe check a few current topics.
- 2 to 3 days per week - this place isn't a significant part of your life, so you don't feel a need to check in every day. Only when you think about it or have the time.
- Once a week - you are still classed as an 'active member', but don't see a need to be keeping track of news and events as they happen. You can find out about stuff later, like on the weekend when you have time.
- Less than once a week. (probably won't get many votes here, because most of these people aren't here often to see this poll...)

Yea i would probably spend 1 hour to 1 1/2. Just depends on how often the topics are updated

Probably about a couple of hrs over the course of the day.

Very irregular but I still voted for 2 hours (average). In a day, sometimes I'm online for up to more than 3 hrs (approximately on and off from my PC), reading news & sightings, looking at customs and acquisitions, waiting for something interesting under the sale yard thread. :D But sometimes not at all, which could be very unlikely.

And yeah, Ozformers is also my first and only online forum I have so far. ;)

I voted for 2 hours, even if im not on it continuously, i always like to check posts from time to time during the course of the day :)

Even if I dont have the opportunity to post or reply to anything, im always reading most things that do go up.

At the moment im tied between the Ozformers Boards and FB as my main online sites. But to my benefit, this one isnt block at work :D, unlike Facebook :(

I'm on the higher end of the spectrum which is why I've been trying to reduce my time on here recently. This is the only TF forum I visit, and the only online community I'm active in (a couple of others I lurk or post irregularly at), and yes most of my online/real world friends are here. (And then I wonder why I'm single :o:( )

I check OTCA whenever I'm home cause the laptop is usually next to me whenever I'm watching TV or whatever, but I don't really post that much and just check to see if there's any new posts or whatever... I much rather talk to people in real life hence why I don't use any other forums and I have facebook/myspace cause nearly everyone does, but I don't really use them

I probably spend close to 3hrs when I'm in the office at the moment I'm repping for my company (my bro and I swap every month or so) so atm I'm not spending alot of time here.

This is also the only online community I'm active in, tf or otherwise... unless facebook counts. Also if I was in an area populated by more members I would probably find myself like Paulbot and socialise with you guys alot more.

2+hrs now I'd say. A little in the morning and a little at night ;) and my postings are starting to swing into this site more too and less in tfw2005.

I mostly log in here during work hours which is about 8 hours but it doesn't mean that I am reading the board during that time as I have the browser with the otca page either minimized or in the background while working.

Does that still count as 8 hours in the poll?

Erm 3-6 hours a day hehehe, BUt im mostly just online, at times when there's not much activity I'm online but am really doing something else like running the laundry, mowing the lawn, watering the plants and the most common is cooking my meals. So at times when I get a PM it takes a while for me to reply coz Im "online" but not physically always there hehehe:D

Login from the office and visit when I am bored/need a time out. Occasionally login on weekends.

Here and Seibertron are the only places I frequent often.

I said about an hour a day, but it's probably less than that... maybe. This is 1 of about 3 forums I'm active in, I mostly pop in and out throughout the day.

About an hour a day, although it varies.

This the the only TF forum I visit, although I do check out some other non-forum sites. I frequent one other forum (non TF), about half an hour per day, and lurk in one other irregularly.

:)I said 2hours but it would most probably be 3-6 hours if you include idle time in the background:D.

I said less than an hour a day, I usually check in briefly a couple of times a day if I'm around. If someone is fighting or there is an interesting discussion then I might stick around longer.

It varies from day to day. Some days I spend far less, but some days more.

how many people here use this fan-forum as their only online community?

I'm one of the mods on HK-TF.com, but have found myself feeling more at home here and participate more in the discussions here, which are more relevant to me being a Perth local. In terms of reading I spend very roughly an equal amount of time on both forums, switching between two browsers. But I've replied or posted less on the HK forum lately, with the majority of interactions being mod duties. A big reason is that my office desktop has no Chinese character input method installed, and it takes too much time for me to take out my laptop and type up replies nowadays... (i.e. L-A-Z-Y :p )

I also read news from tfw2005, tformers, seibertron and allspark in that order. But I very rarely visit their forums, unless there's a new discussion on any latest FansProject annoucement. Love to read people's reactions and opinions. :D

Non-TF forums I used to participate in included kungfuboard.com and emptyflower.com, two very different martial arts forums. The discussions in MA forums such as these no longer interest me, as I can learn any knowledge that I really need from people I've had the good fortune to meet in Perth and HK.

Other sites I visit less frequently include toysdaily.com, eurobricks.com, kotaku.com, dpreview.com, and a couple others.

I'm here about an hour a day though I spend extra time prepping things for the board, group orders/Soapbox/other ideas. And that's not necessarily every day either. I don't get much on weekends at all.

Much less than it used to be b/c work started too. When I was a uni bum, probably 3-4 hours a day

Sometimes I just have a quick look to see new posts during the day at work when I got a few minutes spare, sometimes more.
Depends on how busy the day is, roughly I'd say 2 hours.

about 2 hours, granted I actually visit the site some 5+ times per day. No other site gets that much luurve, only for you OTCA baby.

I used to spend hours and hours here - at work. :b but DAMN! now it's so busy - meetings, work, meetings work work - I open up the page, fully intending to browse like crazy - but then suddenly it's 10 to 5pm and it's time to go home <_<;

I spend a lot of time here (either posting or just lurking). It's the main forum I interact on (even though I'm a member of others - including different toylines).

Over the space of several hours, I probably spend a couple of hours a day here (sometimes more). Even if I'm not posting I keep coming back to check what's new while I'm doing stuff in other browsers! I'm currently doing some After Effects editing and it's nice to take a break and come here! :)

I've always lurked on Ozformers - even before I became a member here 2 years ago I used to lurk for about 4 years before that!

Ozformers is usually the first and last site I visit each day!

Used to spend over an hour on here each night but have cut back a bit now. Although i may check a couple of times a day if i can (I work outdoors so getting to a pc is pretty much out of the question unless im doing work in the office) for any new headlines. Generally get on first thing in the morning and the last thing at night . I always check two other Transformers related sites at the same time for movie and product news. Ozformers is the only forum i participate in- or visit for that matter.

Stop it your FREAKING me out... lol

Just thinking how important the fan meets are. Yeah its great to spend time on here but i really enjoy the fan meets. I would like to try to get interstate more and meet some more members. I could talk Transformers for just about forever and to sit down with people who feel the same is awesome. I remember at the first fan meet i went to feeling a sense of fitting in. Which was great!

So i guess what im saying is i reccon everyone should try going to one of these meets at least once (and i know many of you have very regular meets) because it puts things in a new perspective as far as the forum is concerned. And its nice to put a face (or avatar) to a name and get to know people.

I spend about an hour here each day. I am only new here so I spend most of that time reading posts and trying to get a feel for the atmosphere
I am not well versed in Transformers lore so there is a lot that I don't know so I am not likely to jump in to give my opinion on many subjects

I am only active on this TF-forum and I check tfw2005 and siebertron for latest news. I just like the fact that there is an online community from my Country :)

I am about an hour a day I guess.

Usually just have a squizz and a quick post or two and away I go. This is the only forum I post on. I only have enough time for here:D

PLus all the news from other sites makes its way here, so no need for more than 1 TF board.

Fan meets are the bestest.

Feel for u, Sifun. Tough for me originally but I think its probably better. Gets me to focus on other things around the office instead. I still hop on from time to time (more than I do at home in the last week) but i think overall having it blocked helps u

Yeah can't use proxy because they find out, and block it. I don't want to get a warning about it, so i only tried it once.
This place keeps me sane at work, really annoyed they blocked it

Agreed. I think its a good place when u need a breather. But don't worry, u'll find other things to do. I use what spare time I have at work to talk with other people and build r/ships for instance. Another thing I do is read up on things to keep my technical skills sharp. Or
