MP-08 Grimlock Prices

Hey all,

I have been waiting, hoping that the Australian dollar would go back up to at least 0.70 but it doesn't look promising that it will before MP-08 Grimlock is released. My questions is for those purchasing him what are you paying in total (including shipping) in Australian dollars?

I will probably still wait for reviews of him before I buy him, given the QC issues with Takara Starscream that I bought. Also, what is the concensus on a Hasbro release? Do you think we will get one? Would it be worth holding out for that instead or better to be safe than sorry and buy the Takara one before it is sold out?

I know there are a lot of questions in there but I'm interested in the opinions of the fellow people on the board.

I'd bet my tf collection that Hasbro will release Grimlock here. Takara doing a MP fig of a relatively unpopular character in Japan all at the own behest? I don't think so!

It was revealed that MP Grimlock was actually Hasbro's idea and they, for lack of a better word, pretty much forced TakTom to make one. :p As Gutsman said I would bet that Hasbro will release one, but it won't be until after TF2 has come and gone, probably sometime next year.

I'm guessing that a Hasbro release would be quite a lot cheaper....do they usually skimp on things like details and metal though? Their Starscream was great.

So far the hasbro MP's have been good, with the exception of the 2nd Prime release. However with the recent quality dip it'll be interesting to see how this goes.

I have been offered A$210 delivered. Is that good/bad/average?

$210 sounds good to be, who was that through? A mate or a store? ie: if it ends up being a good price, can you get 2 lol.

It's through a personal contact. I can get an unlimited amount, but I have to commit and pay this week.

However, I just checked Toy Wholesaler (http://www.toy-wholesaler.jp/cgi-bin/goods2-e.cgi?ca=TF) and that works out to be A$182 shipped if you buy 4 at a time. That ship sails March 8th.

I don't think I'm interested. You should start 'er up (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=13). Deadline is March 8th. Also, the amount for shipping they provide is "an estimate". You only pay for the figure up front, and shipping when it arrives and the exact amount is confirmed (which I believe is March 12th anyway).

I'd be interested in setting a preorder up for that price.

We can talk about it in another thread but if I do it my conditions would be:

- I have the money in my acount before I pre-order the case.
- I live in Brisbane so we would have to arrange postage or pickups from there :)
- - I work in the CBD though so that might help.

I paid $240 AUD inc shipping to Perth from Robot Kingdom....I think I got 63c for the Aussie dollar vs the US dollar when I pre-ordered.

I wouldn't count on Hasbro's version being as good...but if the difference is going to be $100 odd dollars (going off Hasbro' last MP prices) then who cares.

MP-08 is a must for me....hence the price I paid. It all depends how much you want something. :)

At the rate the NZ to US is going (slipped under 49c this week) I wont be getting one at all.

Though, looking at Toy Wholesaler ... ¥37500 for the Grimlocks (with 4% paypal fee) and ¥9100 for 5kg EMS postage ... $260NZ for a MP-8

My lot of 4 with shipping around 7800yen works out to be around $170 each.

As for toysalers service I can say it is excellent. I get a email notice on the day of release and it's usually shipped the same day I pay for shipping. I haven't waited more than 1.5 weeks for anything from them.

Yeah I got that email too, but this will work out cheaper :)
