We all know that Fortress Maximus is the tallest Autobot, but whos taller out of Overlord and Black Zarak?
Just wondering because people have said that overlord is just taller then Scorponok but Black Zarak as taller horns on his head. So whos taller?

GoktimusPrime

I'd say they're about the same height. I don't know about Black Zarak, but Scorponok (http://www.cliffbee.com/reviews/scorponok.php) is 35cm whereas Overlord (http://www.cliffbee.com/reviews/overlord.php) is 34.5cm.

I have freaked myself out after reading about GPS on TF Wiki and am now wary of forming Monstructor....

Has anyone ever encountered this?

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Gold_Plastic_Syndrome

I invented the phrase, while Jhiaxus is the expert when it comes to GPS (and Brown Plastic Syndrome) in the 'flesh'. Most of those pics on Tfwiki are his: http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showpost.php?p=121247&postcount=1 Most of us have had it happen at some point - Roller mentioned it just the other day, probably regarding a G2 Slingshot. If you want to form Monstructor, be particularly wary of Bristleback (and maybe Slog).

kup

I disagree with the wiki. The real danger with Bristleback is not the combination but transforming him from robot mode to beast mode. I have owned 3 Bristlebacks and all of them combined just fine - the transformation was the real killer.

Bristleback has the problem that the inner tab that causes friction on his legs when you transform him (to keep them in place) is too large and require a lot of pressure for it to move. Skystalker has a similar issue in one of his ship's wings - that is why so many out there have that joint broken although in that case its not due to GPS but for Bristleback this considerably increases the danger of breakage.

What I did with mine was semi transform Bristleback's legs (one piece) and file that inner tab down so that its more manageable and 'softer' to move - Otherwise he can become impossible to transform without breaking. Now I can transform him with no problem at all but I still have to be careful.

Yeah, they're not entirely accurate, still, transforming Bristleback from beast mode or robot mode to arm mode so he can combine with Monstructor can be a killer on his beast legs.

I wish I owned Jhiaxus' broken toys. Aside from Sizzle who needs major reconstructive surgery, none of the ones he pictured on his collection thread are beyond repair.

GoktimusPrime
15th December 2009, 02:13 PM
Yeah, I broke both my Slog and Bristleback while transforming them for assembly into Monstructor. In the case of Slog the damage was non-essential, but with Bristleback it was part of his leg. :( The robot head of my Transmetal Megatron broke about 5 years ago; fortunately I was able to easily (and affordably) replace it with a Metals Megatron.

I was discussing this with kup a few days ago; one Transformer on my want list is G1 Roadblock. It's a toy I never got as a kid because the Pretender Vehicles never interested me (I got Gunrunner as a gift); they're underwhelmingly crap toys and didn't appear in G1 canon. Then Roadblock appeared in the BotCon Japan exclusive comic "Cybertron Chronicles" which has since put Roadblock on my wants list (although a low priority want). The thing is that I always want to play with any toy I get, but I know that if I get Roadblock I won't want to play with him in fear of damaging the inner robot! So I'm at odds... part of me wants the character, but another part doesn't want the toy if I can't play with it. Gah. I probably will eventually get it but it will be one of very few Transformers in my collection that I'll never play with. :(

kup
15th December 2009, 03:25 PM
It is possible to play with Roadblock since his inner bot doesn't have parts which 'frictions' with other parts during transformation like Bristleback. You just have to be careful during each transformation and always apply pressure at the base of moving parts but being careful doesn't mean slow and tedious. Also don't push down the dual gun to far down - just enough to hold it.

Gold Plastic Syndrome is a real pain but considering how bad it can be on some toys, Roadblock's ain't so bad.

1. A toy gimmick. The comic tried to makesense of it in the story, Masterforce did a better job of it. Basically it's another way of the TFs being in disguise in addition to their basic transforming to disguise gimmick.

2. It's not always, but mostly so it stands out visually.

3. During Transformers the Movie, Galvatron travels back in time to earth in 1986 in an attempt to escape Unicron's control. Meanwhile on Cybertron in 1986 the Autobots set a trap to wipe out the deadliest Decepticons, which is thrown into jeopardy when their greatest warrior, Ultra Magnus, leaves for earth to investigate the disappearace of Optimus Prime (caused by Galvatrons appearance from the future).

Actually you have three. And I only have time to answer the third one.

3. i heard the target 2006 has a brilliant story line but i dont really want to read it because of the storyline but i was wondering if anyone could help me out on whats the plot, whats it about?

You really should read it, it's the best Transformers story in any form in 25 years and the first UK Comic story released in Australia back in 1986. As a basic summary, during Transformers: The Movie, when Galvatron says "Decepticons, to Earth!" he actually takes himself, Scourge and Cyclonus twenty years into the past to make a massive Earth-based gun to be buried underground (where Autobot City would be built) to destroy Unicron (and, presumably, Autobot City). Their time travel requires "mass substitution", so when the Decepticon trio appear, Optimus Prime, Prowl and Ratchet disappear into 'limbo'. On Cybertron, the Autobots are planning Operation: Volcano - an uprising against the Decepticon control of Cybertron, which they've been planning meticulously and cannot be aborted. But then the Matrix Flame is extinguished, so Ultra Magnus travels to Earth to find out what happened to Optimus Prime. Galvatron beats up Megatron and Soundwave and becomes the new leader of the Decepticons (he needs the Constructicons to build his big gun). Back on Cybertron we meet, for the first time, some group called 'The Wreckers' who are supposed to fight the Decepticons without Magnus. The Autobots on Earth are still leaderless, and try to deal with that. (Not so well - they pretty much have Megatron leading them. Which is awesome.) It has a fight scene between Galvatron and Ultra Magnus that lasts an entire issue of a comic. Oh and Hot Rod, Kup and Blurr turn up too. So the story is about everyone on Earth (except The Constructicons, Starscream and, kind of, Jazz) trying to take down Galvatron and the movie Decepticons. And the Autobots trying to wrest Cybertron from the Decepticons.

As I said, it is the bomb. Read it.

Has there been any info released on a new Transformers cartoon, possibly in connection with Discovery?

I seem to remember something being mentioned at a panel or investor meeting or something. Casting began about three weeks ago for some Transformers production also.

Any info and supporting links appreciated :)

No real info only that they are planning something for late 2010. We are likely to get something more substantial at Botcon - They will likely refrain from announcing anything until then.

Questions:
Did Hasbro ever fix the sticky paint problem on Universe Deluxe Prowl?

Did we ever get that problem in Australia?
From TFwiki:
"Many buyers have reported that after repeated handling of the toy, the paint on the pieces of Prowl molded from translucent plastic (his doors, his roof, the sides of his hood and front bumper) quickly becomes sticky to the touch and begins to smear and rub off. Presumably, this owes something to the plastic and paint failing to bond properly, although what allowed the toy to leave factories with this flaw undetected is unknown. Sticky paint has not been reported on every Prowl; there is some suggestion that temperature and humidity play a role in whether or not it occurs. It has been suggested that the problem only affects the first run of Prowl figures, but sticky figures have been purchased at retail when the line was launched in the United Kingdom just over a month after its American debut. Also, on a lot of the UK release toys, all the pieces that are molded white plastic have a very faint pink tinge."

And also:
"Soon after his release, some customers have reported that Henkei Prowl suffers from the same sticky paint problem that plagued many Universe Prowls."

I've handled Pulse's Universe Prowl which had sticky doors, but the doors on my Henkei Prowl is fine. So in my personal experience I find that Henkei's better in this deparment (also looks a lot nicer with chrome missiles and rifle) - but according to TFwiki, reports indicate that it's an almost random phenomenon amongst both Universe and Henkei. So I guess it's a bit of a gamble. :/

What you could do is buy a Universe Prowl and hang onto the receipt and bring it back for an exchange/refund until you find one with no sticky doors. But that might backfire on you like it did with my Animated Blitzwing story -- I exchanged/refunded that toy over and over and over again (at different stores in different locations!) and I never found one that didn't have weak canopy tabs. The Blitzwing I ended up keeping had the least weakest of the ones I found, and I just gave up after that.

Good luck at any rate.

Got Autocon's PM regarding the missing biocards.
That 2 pack I sold to him has been MISB since I purchased it years ago when Beast Wars II was first released.
It's a Japanese release and not the Korean one.
It's impossible for the instructions to be "photocopied" as I trust the sellers I'd bought them from originally and never had an issue with all my prior purchases that I'd ever decided to open (and no seller then would bother about photocopying instructions to toys that were readily available on the market).
Autocon, I honestly suggest that you check the box thoroughly and that these suggestions that instructions are "photocopied" should not be suggested loosely as that places my integrity on the line.
I have never and I will NEVER photocopy instructions nor will I go through the hassle to reseal boxes to rip anyone off.
If it's MISB, I'll state it's MISB... if it's MIB, it's MIB... and if it's loose, it's loose.
No 2 ways around it.
I believe I'd sold other BW items to people on this forum at Nexus and this is quite honestly the first I'm hearing of this.
Your post insinuates that I'd sold you a KO Beast Wars item when what I'd sold you was a bloody genuine Takara product that's been in my collection for years!

I don't believe and am not suggesting that you knowingly sold a toy with missing parts to Autocon. But I suggest that a batch of MISB BWII toys distributed in Asia might not have their techspec cards, rub-sign, or printed instructions (only photocopy quality ones) put in by the factory. I have this idea because a single MISB Lio-convoy I purchased in 2000 from a shop elsewhere also had very similar problems.

That's strange. It should be. And you should see a sculpted indent for where the sticker is placed too, even if it's missing. This photo (http://stat001.ameba.jp/user_images/e0/46/10127732977.jpg) shows Lio Convoy's rub sign and its location.

Your post insinuates that I'd sold you a KO Beast Wars item when what I'd sold you was a bloody genuine Takara product that's been in my collection for years!

i didnt mention you as i thought maybe the person you bought it from may have done it. I dont know much about this set which is why am asking it. I never said it was knock off just missing tech specs cards which i now have learned as to why. i shall post a photo of instructions? i dont mind coz you can still read it no major concern. I just thought every tf released by tak had bio cards and maybe they forgot to include them?

Doesn't sound particularly Australian to me. When Sideswipe says "Clear a path" -- I can't remember if his pronunciation of "clear" is received or not... but iirc he pronounces "path" as /pAE'TH/ (which is American) and not /pa;TH/, which is how an Australian would say it.

Anyone care to check their DVD/BR to confirm/deny this?

P.S.: Sideswipe's voice actor is André Sogliuzzo, who is American.

Yeah, that's why he was originally meant to be called Cackle (and retained that name in Europe.) Which is kind of funny (pun kind of intended) - the original Jawbreaker character was what the UK comics called G1 Overbite (presumably because Overbite's gun was a 'Jawbreaker Cannon'.) So the Jawbreaker name has twice been a cause of confusion on different sides of the Atlantic.

Just a bit of Jawbreaker canon for you all. :D

I'd recommend watching the original Car Robot over RiD for various reasons, but I don't know if anyone's ever translated the series into English (fan sub or otherwise), so RiD is probably the only way to watch it unless you can understand Japanese.

I would recommend watching it though. The show is primarily aimed at a very young audience, but within that context I think it's pretty well done.

Car Robot/RiD has some pretty cool toys though. It combined the improved engineering innovations from Beast Wars (e.g.: full articulation, detailed sculpting, better paint apps etc.) and instead of animals used licensed vehicles (e.g. Diablo, ML320, Dodge Viper etc.) Car Robot/RiD was the inspiration for Binaltech/Alternators. :)

The black plastic plate that his head is mounted on can be rotated 360 degrees... so check that the side bits on this black plate are folded upwards so that they aren't rubbing against the torso.

I don't know how better to describe it, but hopefully that should help.

The grid pattern should have a horizontal line across the top and bottom of the window, which would make the grey border of the fist line up as well. The AUS one, like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190372551560) (which claims to be a reissue - the word used for KOs, especially when they have never been officially reissued), has the grey bit near the fist a bit lower than the top of the window.

Just checked the TFW2005 topic on spotting fake Wheeljacks (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/150899-g1-wheeljack-original-vs-reproduction.html), and it seems that I was right. Those two things I spotted were the first two things mentioned in spotting a KO Wheeljack.

A pity really, as that AUS dealer has a lot of nice real TFs for sale, for some decent prices. They probably don't even know they are fakes.

The articulation is restricted in some places and sometimes pieces can fall off (yet other pieces are really hard to remove, like the leg pieces... which gets tedious during toy play when doing "action transformations"). I typically like starting Magnus off with his armour on and have him go up against Hordes of Decepticons(TM), eventually wittling him down to the bare white robot inside. :D It's how I used to play with G1 Magnus as a kid too, eheheh. :)

coz like with da main big retailers and everything like kmart, target, big w etc, they hav refund policies I think saying dat anything refunded has to be unopened, undamaged and sellable condition?? so I just wanna ask one of da guys who hav returned a toy, can they explain da situation coz I'm curious in case I eva need to do it (I'm luki so far... no major unfixable problems in all of my toys), did the ppl dere giv u lot of trouble?

Is recon ravage available in Australia? Also for my previous question, do the sisters also merge? Any idea why hasbro didn't reveal this in the previous manual's?

The articulation is restricted in some places and sometimes pieces can fall off (yet other pieces are really hard to remove, like the leg pieces... which gets tedious during toy play when doing "action transformations"). I typically like starting Magnus off with his armour on and have him go up against Hordes of Decepticons(TM), eventually wittling him down to the bare white robot inside. :D It's how I used to play with G1 Magnus as a kid too, eheheh. :)

I don't experience any of those issues as the legs are easy to put on and remove if you know the trick.

However although much of the articulation is indeed inherited from the base figure, it is restricted but not overly so to prevent dynamic poses.

It is stable and secure enough to play with even roughly if you have put on the armor properly.

However the BFG is its biggest weakness and a big problem if you want to play with it or even pose the figure with it. I put it aside because its too restrictive and heavy to do anything with. It is the biggest design flaw of the whole set.

Not yet (if at all)

Hasbro says yes they will.

Probably because they weren't sure if they'd release three bikes and didn't want to commit to doing so.

Back in the days of the RiD line, I bought a figure, palyed with it for less than a day before the little clip in the combining mechanism broke as I had bent it in a way which it wasn't supposed to...

My mum and I (as I was only 13 or so at the time) took it back to K-Mart and they took it back and allowed us to exchange it for a new one. It's probably a case-by-case thing as it would depend on the refunds staff's discretion.

Yes, they're good, particularly the War Within one, since it's one of the best Transformers comic series of the past fifteen years.

Does anyone know where I can get instructions for the animated twins - Jetstorm and Jetfire?
I got them loose as part of a group lot. I managed to transform them from jet to robot when I first got them but now I can't reverse it... and I got no idea how to combine them into one robot.
Any help would be appreciated.

It's probably a case-by-case thing as it would depend on the refunds staff's discretion.Current returns policies still protect the buyer from faulty goods, no worries there.
They are chain wide policies and major stores all have nearly the same policies.
You just have to know that you are indeed entitled to return faulty goods and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Examples:
Target http://www.target.com.au/html/refund/revamped_refund.htm
Target will accept product returns where:
• The product is faulty or the product is not fit for the purpose goods of that kind are commonly bought.
• The product does not match the sample or description.

Kmart http://www.kmart.com.au/ReturnsPolicy.aspx
Kmart will accept product returns and provide you with an exchange voucher, refund or repair where:
The product is faulty or is not of merchantable quality, or
The product is not fit for its intended purpose, or
The product does not match the sample or our description; and
You can present your Kmart register receipt or other adequate proof of purchase.

Also, these policies are mandated by the federal government (http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815360) in the Trade Practices Act:

Statutory conditions (goods)

The Trade Practices Act implies the following statutory conditions into consumer contracts:

The goods must be of merchantable quality. That is, they must meet a basic level of quality and performance, taking into account their price and description. They also should be free from defects that were not obvious to you at the time of purchase.
The goods must be fit for their purpose. That is, they should do what they are supposed to do and be suitable for any purpose that you might have made known to the supplier.
The goods must match the description you were given or the sample you chose from. For example, any carpet laid must be the same quality and colour as the sample you chose from.
You must receive clear title to the goods, including goods bought at auction. In other words, you can expect to own the goods outright and any restriction on ownership should be explained to you beforehand.

Hi There Guys,

I have three questions:-

1) What are the names of the 3 Rainmakers?

2) Where do most of you guys buy your figures especially G1 + G2?

3) How many seekers have been released in this format?

Paulbot

1) The only Rainmaker who has a name is "Acid Storm".

2) Best answered by others, for me it's eBay for G1 and G2 figures

3) Which format do you mean? There's varying versions of the Seekers (particular if you count all the times a Starscream toy has been repainted as Skywarp/Thundercracker etc).

This should help (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Seeker).

2) Where do most of you guys buy your figures especially G1 + G2?

3) How many seekers have been released in this format?

1) The Green one is Acidstorm while the yellow one is said to be Sunstorm by some fans. However others say that the yellow seeker is a completely different character altogether who just happens to be yellow/orange. I don't think the blue one has a name.

2) I have gotten most of my G1s from Ebay and Transformerland.com. I have also got a few good figures from fans on this board. A few others have been from none attached individuals doing private sales.

3)What format do you mean? Rainmakers? Then its just Universe Acidstorm and possibly Sunstorm. If there is a Sunstorm toy that more closely represents the yellow Rainmaker is the yellow release of the titanium WW seeker . It's the only toy representing G1 Sunstorm that so happens to be yellow just like in the show instead of orange. Since he also has a Cybertronian mode, it also matches with the 'pyramid' jet of the episode.

If you want to 'catch them all', the ones you still need are:

G1: Starscream, Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet.
G2: Starscream and Ramjet.
Post G2: Various reissues of the G1 Seekers, plus e-Hobby Black Starscream, e-Hobby Ghost Starscream and Lucky Draw Starscream.

(There are only five Lucky Draw Starscream toys in existence, so you're almost certainly not ever going to own one of those, but all the rest are potentially collectable. Of the ones you don't have, the cheapest ones to get Mint In Sealed Box are Encore Starscream and US Reissue Dirge. G2 Ramjet is my favourite version of the mould - he comes in teal and imperial purple with missiles that actually fire and a box of sound effects. But maybe that's just me...)

Yes there is, they have only had limited release in Australia. We've had all the Hasbro releases so far: Optimus Prime (twice), Starscream (TRU and Toyworld stores only) and Skywarp (Toyworld/type stores only, limited release).

The Takara versions of Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime with Trailer also came out here but were Target exclusives. Ultra Magnus became a shelfwarmer and Prime had numerous quality control issues.

You're probably better off buying straight from Japan online stores like HLJ.com

It's normal age and play wear for the toy but it isn't supposed to fall off if that's what you mean.

The head is completely reliant on the stiffness of the metal pin joint to keep the head in place. If the joint has worn (It's metal against plastic so likely yes) then the only way to fix it is to reinforce it.

This is likely to be a common issue so I will make a tutorial on how to repair it.

Anyone here know if the black 'skid plate' underneath G1 Sunstreaker is meant to lock into place when in car mode? Thankfully mine is stiff enough that it won't drop (get your minds out of the gutter) but it doesn't lock or clip into place.

Cheers!

liegeprime
15th March 2010, 03:00 PM
It doesnt have a specific clip to lock into place, but rather the inner U of the plate is kept in place with the black "plastic piece"( for lack of a better term) that forms part of the head/seat block. While the 2 outer winglet like protruberance on the sides of the plate fits thru the groove of the arms of Sunstreaker. I guess its better explained with pics..... but Im too lazy to take some now. But when you do transform him in car mode, just press the black plateon the upper part of the U shape ( both upper part) and youl feel it lock in place no need for a peg and hole actually which is quite ingenious.

I think I know what you're getting at here. I have tried to push the inner U of the plate so that the head/seat block protrudes through the middle somewhat however the U shape doesn't appear wide enough for it to fit.

I don't want to force it or shave it so it does fit. If it were a newer figure I wouldn't mind attempting this.

Thanks for the response liege. At least I know I'm not going insane :)

Actually that's how it keeps it in place since the middle U isn't as wide enough the head/seat block the tightness keeps it from dropping down. It wont break ( well mine hasn't) just push one side first then the other. It hasn't snapped the plate in my Sunstreaker at all and this one ain't new as well.

Does G1 scamper (metroplex partner) come in variants? I've seen some with blue windows

Lol so that explains it.

Anywho, what's the likelihood of G1 Jetfire being reissued? I'm thinking of buying one right now but the (current) hefty pricetag is making me iffy.

I'd be inclined to think that the reissue of G1 Jetfire is more or less slim to nil.
The toys mold was leased by Hasbro from one of Takara's main competitors Takatoku Toys. I believe the figure was never released in Japan, under Transformers, and the mold has not been used by Hasbro since 85-86.

Lol in the jetfire wiki link, it states in the notes

"It's believed that there were some trademark issues with the name "Optimus Prime" in the Netherlands due to a manufacturer of kitchen utensils named "Optimus".[4] Whether or not this was actually the case, Milton Bradley did not initially release Optimus Prime's toy, referred to Jetfire as the Autobot leader, and called Optimus "Jetfire" in the Dutch translation of the Marvel comic! Whatever the problem was, it was later rectified, as the Optimus Prime toy was later released and they stopped calling him "Jetfire" in the comic." :p

A complete Bludgeon can go for a lot higher too. I have seen them sell for around US$200. I was lucky that I got mine ages ago so I didn't pay anywhere near this price. But yeah, good luck finding him :)

why is G1 Flywheels a tank + fighter Jet combo,
whilst G1 Battletrap is a camper truck + apache helicopter combo?

surely it would make more sense to name the toy with actual car wheels on it "Flywheels" and call the tank + jet combo "Battletrap"?

or is this another one of those RIBFIR questions??

The lack of wheels on Flywheels' altmode has led to speculation that he and Battletrap may have swapped names during production. In fact, when they are first introduced in The Headmasters, their name captions are swapped around, which further adds to this theory.

If true, it would be anyones guess as to why the names were swapped.
