MP Ironhide gets a makeover and a kinder surprise

Hi,

Thanks to a friend of mine Griffith76, who help me cast a new head for my MP Ironhide, here is an update of his head painted.

Next to him is by popular demand since my first Ironhide that was not transformable, I will be doing a transformable MP Ratchet (well, my aim anyway.. and its better now that I am more equiped after doing a few kitbashes. The UM project taught me a lot about using Styrene etc.

Here is the first sighting of this figure in the works.

Now the question is, should Rathet's helmet be red or white?

I think the helmet is red with the V emblem white...

White helmet with a red crest. Keep the G1 feel. in the ned it's upto you mate:) These are also somethings I'd like to buy :P

Thanks for the comment TB. In IDW Infiltration, the Helmet is red and the emblem white.

I have to go turn on G1 TF and watch the first few episodes to confirm the G1 colour.

I definitely want to go the G1 way.

The helmet in G1 was white with a grey crest. But IMO, I think red would look better.

Then white and grey it will be. Thanks for clearing that up. If I dont like it, I can always change the emblem. Easier to go white first and then red if I dont like it than the other way around.

Hey Kelvin - there were actually three main types of G1 Ratchet.

G1 comics Ratchet had a red helmet with a white crest, white face and white knobbly bits on the side.

G1 cartoon Ratchet had a white helmet with a black crest and grey face.

G1 toy Ratchet had a black face with silver lines. :)

Being a comics fan I've always been in the "red head, white crest" crowd, but I think you've made the right call to go white head, grey crest for now, and wait until you have MP Ratchet finished before finalising the scheme.

Thanks Skyshadow.. thats how Hasbro makes money from all the repaints...

And trunks likes head, sounds even dirtier. Oopps.

I will go with the white helmet, grey crest first... I will try to do that tonight and see how that looks. :)

Looks awesome mate, just needs to be a darker grey IMO:)

Really, its using boltgun metal already.. I can try to put some black wash.. That should darken it.

I think the flash is making it appear lighter than it is, boltgun grey is pretty dark.

I'm not sold on the grey crest, but as I said, I'm biased to comics Ratchet.
