Saw a new Hoth base at TRU in Morley today and Palpatines Arrest. not sure if they were on sale but Jabba's palace (150something) and most of the Star Wars sets were.
I picked up the skiff for 39, the Grevious ship was tempting too

was checking the net last night and was on MR. TOYS TOYWORLD and found that the death star will be released in October this year, but at a staggering $700. looked on eBay and found a S/H one for $400.

The Mr Toys catalogue in the mail today has this on the front page ($699 mid-October). It's the Ep4 Death Star (10188) about 2/3 down this page (http://www.gadgetreview.com/2011/09/20-of-the-geekiest-star-wars-lego-sets.html).
Probably cheaper elsewhere, but this is an option for the desperate.

Also, they had two other exclusives from the Halo Mega Bloks line too. Both were priced at $80 for only 400+ pieces. Comparable sets go for $40-$55 normally. I think the gouging might also be on TRU's behalf, not just Lego.

Nope. I went to two relatively obscure Myers which stock well. Didn't see any.

Also, confirming I saw the Death Star at TRU yesterday. Both places had them in the games section in a glass cabinet. You'll probably have to ask to get it.

Got my order from Barnes and Noble, the first half arrived at the end of October, the last half yesterday. First box was maculate, the second looked like it had gone through hell (it had shipped via Sweden from the US, been opened but the inner contents were okay).

Other than the time it took for the second part to arrive pretty happy. Would like to know why the second box went via Sweden though! :D

Not so much a sighting but a heads up, Amazon has the 10188 Death Star set for $360 at the moment (plus about $40 postage). Amazon's a pain to sift through since only maybe 10% of their sets are sellable to Aus, but this sort of deal makes it worth it. Still kicking myself for missing this in Kmart several years back so I didn't muck around this time.

I can see Chima being very popular. I'll be teaching 8-9 year olds again this year, and I have a feeling I'll be hearing/seeing alot of these figures as news presentations/ what I got for my bday throughout the year news time talks.

Might even have to get me a set or two to keep on my desk alongside my Hobbit Lego, DBZ figurines and Cybertron:Armourhide!

The z-95 was a pre-cursor to the xwing... Vast improvements from adding in the split s-foils and extra weapons

Same thing they have done with lots and hobbit sets. You end up with half a dozen Frodos and a couple of gandalfs and gimlis.

I won't be purchasing the tmnt Lego due to the prices for what you get. Only the small mikes set looks half good, the reviews of the larger sets are poor at best, especially for playing with as opposed to display models.

Depending upon your geographical area will determine if 42009 is there.

Also they have been spotted at Myers, however 42008 is $160 and 42009 is $280.

The Death Star is awesome. It's a diorama/ play piece, not an accurate model. It's one of th best Star Wars sets I have. Def recommended but not if you want it as a display piece only.

There is only the bump codes at the bottom of the pack, but they are damn hard to decipher. Feeling them up seems be the best way. This series is actually not too bad. They all have something pretty easy to find. The hardest is telling the difference between Emmet and the Cop and even then you just feel for the handcuffs.

Didn't see any other movie sets. Only new sets I've seen are from the City, Ninjago, and Creator lines.

I nabbed the Hulk Lab smash set and built it last night.

As with all licensed sets it is too expensive, but the set itself is well made, easy to put together and certainly built for play as it is designed to be smashed apart by Hulk!

Great figurines, based on the Tv series cartoon than the movies, but a great way to get a Thor and Hulk since it is impossible to find the Avengers sets now.

Do the large sets get cheaper with a local retail release? Find that Myer and TRU tend to mirror the rrp from the Lego online store. Will be great if it is released at a lower price here as it is an amazing set! Got it for the wife a while back and my wallet still hasn't forgiven me for paying that price online. are there any online American stores that do better prices than the official US lego store or Amazon?

I have read online that Amazon France sometimes does cheap LEGO for some items.

But, you either need to know how to read French, or be able to wing it with Google Translate. :)

It makes sense that Target gets it as an exclusive, they've had some larger sets every year for the past few (Arkham, Diagon Alley) but that price is a bit rich for me, even with the size of the completed model. Here's hoping for the toy sale to knock it down closer to $300.

I was looking in the computer today at work (Big W) to see if there was an ETA for Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!! but didn't see it.

But I did see the Sea Cow in the Big W computer. Can't remember if it was $369 or $389, but our store had I think 8 on order, so might be for the toy sale.

I bought the Delorean from amazon for $35 plus shiopping and still only ended up being 3/4 the price of buying it locally. :rolleyes:

They don't even bother in trying to justify it. It's criminal.

What's the Delorean actually like as a set? Once you get past the excitement about it, it doesn't actually look that good in pics...

It'll be a while before I build it, but it's not the nicest of finished models, it's more to have for fun than because of the build or completed model.

I saw it today.... And was majorly disappointed it's been shrunk! I know LEGO said they were going to reduce the air and save on trees, but now it doesn't fit in my stash of big boxed sets! Also means I can't sneak it in without the wife noticing :(

Depending on how wide it is, you could empty one of the big ones into it and put the box in the bigger box. It is what I do when I have everything out.

I'd second this. I don't remember seeing the Back to the Future set here and that's been out for a while. (nevermind, turns out I just never saw them, but they were out)

I believe it was released a few weeks back. Supposedly they sold out in record time (online that is). I snagged one on US ebay but with the new global shipping program thing, it seems to be taking twice as long to arrive than it used to... :rolleyes:

Hey guys, wondering if you could help me out here. Do you think (at least in your personal opinion) it's worth it to just pay $30 for the shipping at Lego Shop@home, or is it better to buy enough to make $150 for the free shipping? Or maybe it would be better to just wait until a local online retailer gets it?

I'm a bit peeved at the $30 shipping expense, but at the same time I don't think I want enough things to justify $150.
