No stickers or sales tags at my local big w but the air show was down to $48, the y wing to $65, scariff for $55. No other sets from city or batman movie that they had in stock were reduced but they were missing most of the Lego batman wave 1 sets.

Might try and head back in once we know more sets on sale, I'm at the stage where heavily reduced Lego sets are very useful for play and own building rather than making the sets as per instructions!

Is there a place to buy the Batman movie mini figures at a reasonable price if I don't want to stand there like a weirdo feeling blind bags? I'd rather pay a little bit more and only get the ones I want.

Do you mean pre-opened figures?

At Big W, the City theme Bulldozer Break-in 60140 is on clearance for approximately $45 (over 50% off). The Creator Lighthouse Point 31051 is on clearance for $49 (nearly 40% off).

Which ones are you after?

Summer from Gumtree has listed the full set in sealed bags for $75 or $3 each. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/ryde/toys-indoor/brand-new-sealed-lego-minifigures-series-20-complete-20-sets/1158491663

If the full set is in sealed bags I'm assuming she's felt them already. You might be able to talk her into mailing them to you.

Does S@H slug you with surcharge if you buy with a cc? It's been that long since I bought from there I honestly can't remember but I'm pretty sure they don't.

Yup, no surcharge but depending on the credit card you may get slugged a currency conversion fee from the bank. Yeah, even though we see AUD, there is a fee there.

Anyone know if the Ghost II set for Rebels was a TrU or elsewhere exclusive, have not seen it anywhere. I know other Rebels sets like the Frigate were TrU and toyworld exclusives.

Not really seeing anything under $50 online for it either.

I'm pretty sure it is only meant to be a LEGO Shop @ Home Exclusive but I do recall someone saying they spotted it at an airport at RRP. If you can find it around $50, it's the best deal you're gonna get.

Dimensions packs with big discounts at the Lego Shop: https://shop.lego.com/en-AU/Sales-And-Deals-Sets

Only a few variations:
$6.24 Fun packs - Sensei Wu, Aquaman, Cyberman, Bane, Superman
$9.99 Team pack - Joker and Harley Quinn
$12.49 Level pack - Ghostbusters

Too bad about the shipping, bug w had similar prices for many of those packs a few weeks ago, except the joker set.

Wonder how long it'll be befor the powerpuff girls and

Yeah it's a bit of a dud. Lego Shop should be more strategic like the retailers about their clearance items; perhaps at a set time every year, and across the board on all lines.

Clearance Lego from TRU: https://www.toysrus.com.au/toy-sale/#T1181398=1181469&T1191964=0_900

75158 Rebel Combat Frigate from $199 to $149: https://www.toysrus.com.au/lego-star-wars-rebel-combat-frigate-75158_1193843/
Price is now reasonable; the same as what's available on eBay US + shipping. Still a bit high just to get grown up Ahsoka :p

Bricktober's on at TRU (https://www.toysrus.com.au/lego-bricktober-2017/), and the Lego Batman set (https://brickset.com/article/30295/bricktober-batman-movie-minifigures-revealed!) that's given away this week is really cool.

Anime at abbotsford has the Saturn V along with pretty much all the other exclusive and hard to find sets (bar women of NASA, or course) for same rrp as legoshop but no shipping(and they do give 10% discount at least most of the time.

Myer's ebay store has 20% off at the moment with code PMYER. Normally not too exciting but there are a few already discounted sets there like Kylo Ren Tie Fighter, Heavy Assault Walker which has already been discounted by 20% so with code it's an additional 20% off discounted price. Picked up a Volkswagen Beetle 10252 for $95 earlier :)

That's 20% off everything so not just Lego.

Saw the joke AT-ST walker set with bb8 at mt druitt toymate. For $70 I’d want a full walker with the option of removing the top, not the incomplete set that t is!

Anyone have an idea if or who will be stocking the non last jedi Star Wars sets? I don’t care for the Grievous speeder but I’d like the cantina depending on price, as well as the Jawa battle pack (which I’m sure will get a wide release).

Never knew about that site, it is very useful! Myer getting construction Vader and Boba is interesting, the sandspeeder being toyworld only is annoying though as it looks quite alright. Cantina being TrU is bad, that means it’ll be at least $10 more than RRP. Bah.

Looks like BrickLink might be the way to go again, postage kills that for most sets but what choices do we have?

The Ford WRC car looks great. It would still be OK without the stickers, but they certainly add to the model. Liking the look of the classic 911 from 75888 and the classic Ferrari cars from 75889. I picked up the Ferrari F1 car last year, but it is still in the box. :)

Love the Rivendell display. Love the life-size Lego X-wing. Love the Lego museum art. Love that The Magic Portal movie is mentioned. Too bad there are no popular alternative builds for this set to make it into something cool, like the MOC Nebulon B Fridge challenge from several less attractive sets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOkGul34bfI

Also, Classics Batman Batcave for $199: https://www.ebay.com.au/p/Lego-DC-Comics-Super-Heroes-Batman-Classic-TV-Series-Batcave-76052/631425139?iid=172874208701&_trkparms=5373%3A0%7C5374%3AFeatured

I walked past the Arkham set at Target Blacktown yesterday, and I was sure there was a yellow "Clearance $99" tag on it - sorry I didn't pay attention to check if it's $99 off or that $99 was the new clearance price. I'll be in Hawaii next week, but can check again the next time I'm in Blacktown for a site visit.

Target also had all the new Solo sets minus the Kessel Run Falcon and their 20% off toys is still up.

This is the one that used to be at town hall in the city that was always brilliant. I’ll be there at 9 with my little one, we will be there till my wife has enough and kicks us out. Hoping not to spend too much at the sellers tables either.

Picked up Han’s speeder and it’s a fantastic little build. One thing wrong with it and I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what. While driving to work and thinking about toys, as you do, I realised his steering wheel is on the wrong side! Going to rebuild it back to the right hand side next week :D

We were there at nine, not too crowded, had to drag the two year old out screaming two hours later! She loved the Disney on ice display.... of course!

Some amazing creations and some were just people making sets and having them together (which is great, just not as interesting). The xmen sentinel was back, my little one was ecstatic to press the button on the South Pole explorer and lost her mind when the giant ladybug started walking!

I stayed away from the stores, the prices the first store had for old pirate and castle sets made my eyes water but the nostalgia made me want them even more. The stores were making good sales all morning too, the guy doing LEGO for $5 per 100grams was getting cleared out, LEGO is still cheaper than jelly bellies!

The location wasn’t perfect, easier for us out west to get to, but no real public transport thanks to Panthers being miles away. It’s a much smaller space and being far west meant a lot of exhibitors from the northern beaches and Sutherland areas didn’t attend. Still worth every cent, considering profits went to a very good cause.

If you’ve got a few hours to spare it is on again tomorrow from nine.

Not sure if it's the same lego doco I saw some time ago with reference to One by Five. So typical nerdville.

I finally got around to watching it today... and it was really fun and informative. Definitely something to watch, even if you don't collect Lego, because the fandom has the same feel to what you get with Transformers, with the adult and kid fans, and their conventions and reasons for collecting.

I liked their coverage of the history of the Brand, and especially the coverage of their down-turn (and admitting that there were failures on their part - most companies would either omit their failures or blame others), leading to letting in the fans and their ideas, including the Architecture series, and employing fans as Master Builders and Designers, and obviously, the Cuusoo project.

The various fans they feature, and their fan-projects & conventions, is so relatable as a Transformers fan... and I miss those big Transformers fan conventions and interactions.

One guy that was featured was Nathan Sawaya, who's Lego art has travelled the world, including some time in Australia in around 2012, and in Singapore where I saw it in 2013 with a friend (http://toycollectors.com.au/blog/universal7.html).

The acronyms were a bit much, but not surprising when you get fan groups starting with some necessary acronyms, and then getting competitively creative, and hoping that their new acronym sticks in the fandom.
That "one by five" label was news to me... both in it being a brick type that doesn't exist (I thought all combinations and sizes would have been produced at some point), and it being a label for "hot girls" who are fans (a derogatory term by fanboys... who probably aren't exactly Adonises either).

I wouldn't class it as derogatory as there is no hate intended. It's just the typical fanboy perception (though not true of course) that you can't be a 'hot' woman/girl & be into Lego. Not that it matters anyway.

No different to TF fandom sizing up who is prettier; Rachel Taylor or Megan Fox.

Managed to nab one at target at $75. Happy with that price and the build is lovely. Only problem is that it requires a mighty shove from the top of the first crest to get around the corner and down the main slope. Not a good design, especially with the pirate skull that likes to catch on the coaster carriages and minifigs.

I will be trying some modding once I can be bothered getting on bricklink and getting a few pieces. $2.50 a piece for coaster track is not as bad as I thought it would be.

I love it! Beautiful set. The 2 alt builds are great as well, since one uses all the straight track and the other all the curves, buying another 2 sets would give you a whole other circuit of track (if you leave the decorative curve off one of the alt builds). Instant pirate-themed theme park.

The gauge is the same as the terrible mine-cart system used for old rollercoasters, but does mean you can push the cannon around the track...

i_amtrunks
13th July 2018, 07:50 PM
I haven’t been allowed to knock down and rebuild, my daughter lives the roller coaster too much and she lost her mind with giggles when she worked out the cannon backwards down the big hill worked (crashed forward facing). She’s also enjoyed having the minifigures get caught by the octopus and piloting the pirate ship, getting stuck in gaol etc.

It is a lovely set but I really want to see what happens if I raise the first crest on more track piece, I’ll need two steep pieces (ascending and descending and then no idea what I’ll do with the other side... it’s cheaper to buy the rail pieces than another set or two even with the target price of $75.

Got to save money to update all the Harry Potter sets... if we ever see them!

So the Harry Potter Hogwarts express was meant to be a TrU exclusive... so now will be delayed. We might see it in places like Toyworld and online, but I am doubtful they'll have enough stock for demand from the HP fans as well as the Lego trains fans.

It's to only set I really wanted from the line, although the Quidditch and Hall sets may have tempted me at a Big W or Kmart price.

$140 seems ridiculous when compared to the US$ price and it'd mean the purchase of another set to make it worthwhile from the Lego online store, their prices are the worst and their shipping excessive, so it's only worth it if you spend $200.

$140 seems ridiculous when compared to the US$ price and it'd mean the purchase of another set to make it worthwhile from the Lego online store, their prices are the worst and their shipping excessive, so it's only worth it if you spend $200.

Ugh, I was wondering why I haven't seen it anywhere else - all the other sets have started showing up at Kmart.

What a disappointment, it looks amazing! And always a win when a purchase crosses over two collections (trains and 'licensed')...

Harry Potter CMF series are now in Coles for $5.50....

I grabbed a half dozen and thankfully got no doubles but with 22 to collect and so many difficult to feel for pieces it’s going to be tough to get them all, on top of the fact that they’ll fly off the shelves.

Found a unmolested box at Target today. Was only trying to get a couple as I’m not interested in the theme but liked them for parts. 20 minutes later, I had 10 in my hand. Very hard to feel for this series.

After 13 figures I finally got my first double, and it’s dobby....

I’ve been pretty lucky, I’ve only had the misfortune of getting the bland main female lead and the boring bowl cut pseudo villain from the fantastic beasts sub theme.

If I could get a dumbledore and a pyjama Harry I’d be happily done with this series. Never had better luck. The last cmf series I bought 12 figures (never saw them again) and only got 5 unique figures from them!

Yep exactly lol Apparently he's shortpacked as well - 2/60.

Went to Coles Top Ryde the other night and they had 3 near-fresh boxes of this series. Percival Graves is gone from all 3 boxes. Just like the last CMF series, Lego has placed him in the exact same position in each box - from YouTube reviewers its placed 1st column on the left 3rd from the back. Oh well, my girlfriend was she was over the moon from getting a tiny jar Nutella.

The Gold Coast store had sold over 40 of the 6000 piece Hogwarts castle by about 5pm today.

After seeing the LEGO store I really don’t understand why Lego don’t have at least one physical store per capital city. They made a killing as Dreamworld closed, not to mention the number of people who came, bought and left.

Might be cheaper almost everywhere else but between the exclusives and range in stock it’s be a surefure hit to have one in Sydney, Perth and Adelaide.

It's mind numbing trying to rationalise why there isn't a Sydney store when they built a store in Dreamworld that isn't in a major city or is easily accessible by public transport. In one of the Singaporean stores I visited last Christmas, a dad came in intending to buy Star Wars sets for his son and walked off with the Death Star for himself. We managed to visit 3/5 stores - not saying that Sydney needs that many stores, but come on even Bali has a Lego store (http://nowbali.co.id/bali-lego-shop/)

These are meant to not be on shelves before Jan 1, but you might get lucky especially in the smaller toyworld style stores... Might have to check places like brickingaround (http://brickingaround.com/) for what ones end up as exclusives (for all we know, the Death Star escape could be another Myer exclusive).

I know some years it has not been till February or even March that we have gotten the 2019 sets on shelves in Big W etc, but that is more the City and other system sets. I'm keeping my eyes out for Bog W, Kmart etc to have a catalogue posting that Lego Movie 2 sets are out and on introductory sale, I figure that is when the rest of the 2019 sets may appear in the department stores.

Since it does not appear on the Target website, Slave 1 may not be available at Target at all!

Would explain why there was not even space on the shelves for one beside the other star wars sets.

https://www.target.com.au/p/lego-reg-star-wars-trade-slave-l-trade-2-th-anniversary-edition-75243/62507790

It was only available early morning on Thursday online (bought mine 10pm Wednesday night Perth time). And it’s actually cheaper at Kmart.;)

Makes sense. Not logical sense but sense none the less.

No sightings of the rebels sets or the smaller 20th sets anywhere yet... I’d like to pop into the Bondi store but it’s not worth the two + hour drive or the full rep!

Spotted the new Harry Potter sets in Westpoint Target today. Didn't even bother scanning their prices & I was too busy checking out all the new pieces in the new Friends sets (there's a new seaweed piece, new coral marine creatures, new green statues/toy soldiers in that Toy Story set... Heh!)

Spotted a couple of new Ideas sets in the wild today. Westpoint Blacktown Myer had a few Steamboat Willie sets for $129 while the nearby Toymate had a few of the Flintstones sets on the wall behind the counter.

On another note, Westpoint Blacktown has finally re-opened the vast majority of their carpark something like a year after half of it was blocked-off due to cracks in the 48 year old carpark (the council's website says that Westpoint first opened its doors in 1971). After 12 months of parking chaos, I feel bad for the business owners who despite losing a tonne of customers - greedy centre management still forced them to pay full-rent. No wonder there's so many "For Lease" signs...

So anyone have any idea if the Force Friday sets will be available here tomorrow? I got an email from EB/Zing but there is no way I am paying their price for anything Lego related. I am really hoping that Target has them on shelves tomorrow as they still have a general 20% off lego sale...

It?s a bit funny that the Lego store broke their own release date! I figured that stores will have stock but none of the main retailers seem to be doing any real promotions for tomorrow. Ah well, I?ll just have to toddle down to my local target and hope they have sets on shelves! If not and they don?t restock till after the 20% off sale, I?ll wait for the next sale from whoever has one!

Seems like Kylo Rens shuttle has disappeared from the target site. Wonder if this means they are not carrying them. I always struggle to find out what items are exclusives in Australia and to which shops till way too late!

Hoping to get a y wing and the shuttle before the target 20% off price ends but school holidays make it very hard as there are always a thousand and seven things going on!

It?s almost like Australian retailers promise all these things, both online and in store and then cannot deliver due to not having the ability, stock, desire or intention...

It?s getting pathetically sad that whenever there is any kind of ?online event? Australian online stores just cannot deal with the upsurge in traffic.

Chermside Lego Store: had a good look at the new modular (as well as the first time seeing last years built. I still need a corner in my setup but not sold on it yet...). The new one didn't take my interest either, I even considered just getting the diner to go on the corner. They also had the tuner garage set up behind assembly square to finish the display, looks cool but not for me, and my kid isn't old enough for that. Was going to get the monster burger truck but the price put me off.

Also saw the new CNY temple fair, and with half my family being Chinese I'm going to pick this and the lion dance up (wish I'd gotten the CNYE dinner last year). MYER has 30% off lego (except creator expert ofc) but the temple fair is out of stock, did anyone actually see if it was ever in stock yet? Anyway sale ends on Sunday.

Also, target had the hidden side stuff on sale, not sure it's still on but David Jones price matched the shrimp boat to $23.

I expect them to just be Lego Store items too but I don’t really know how it all works. I thought Voltron would be in the same situation but that’s appeared elsewhere, even on Kmart’s website(!).

The Star Destroyer is such a big set but it was on DJ’s website and I’ve seen that at Toyworlds so maybe the other two could as well.

I get the rise in prices now for the SC sets

Theyre 8 studs wide now as opposed to the 6 studs we've had.
I don't know how others will feel about it, but I'm not a fan of the new size. Means that compatibility size wise with the older sets will be off.

On the plus side, you can fit 2 minifigs in the new cars and they come with helmets & hairpieces. May start a new shelf for the larger sets

I was Keen when they were announced but now I’m kinda meh. When built they take up a fair bit of floor space and aren’t really easily storable without dismantling.

Like Sinnertwin my house is full of Hidden Side Lego one account of my son being mildly obsessed with it. It’s good fun. He got the fire truck/mech set for his birthday so I’ll build it tomorrow.

What do lego fans think of the Mario sets that are out everywhere at the moment? Is it a hit, or a miss?

I'm torn in a few different directions.
As a game development/creation tool it is fantastic and gives instant feedback and requires users to make or conform to their own set rules/laws. I am even considering convincing my school to purchase a dozen sets to work with our Lego Mindstorms and wedo kits to tie into Lego coding (for younger students).

As a parent I love it, my daughter loves it and has spent hours setting up levels and practicing them to get as.many coins as possible (also an excellent cold morning activity). She also loves using Mario in her dolls house and have him go to sleep and jump around her dolls house with bluey and family.

As a Mario fan, it's weird and cool but waaaay overpriced. The $5 blind bag sets are the best value and actual builds.

As a Lego fan it barely registers. There are so few bricks, the builds have limited useful parts and as an etoy /toys to life set it has limited life span and appeal.

Overall this is for hardcore Mario fans and younger Lego fans. My daughter and my neices and nephews love it but I doubt it'll hold their attention for long, it costs far too much for the expansion sets and like dimensions it'll be collecting dust far too soon.
