Hypothetical situation - lets say I decided I wanted to sell my MP5 (I have a permit for this by the way). What legal ramifications would I incur?

seeming you have a license i take it you have it registered as a firearm? or just a license to have it with no paperwork on it itself?
In vic you need to sell guns through a dealer and/or someone with a collectors license.... so full transfer of ownership from one to the other with all the paperwork...

It's a Prohibited Weapons Permit. Looks like this:

I know about legal ownership, but what would be the scenario if I wanted to sell it? What do I have have to do if anything? Do I have to let the Firearms dept. know of my intention to sell it? Same situation if it were destroyed by my myself or another party because of a mishap. What would happen then? I have absolutely no intention of selling mine, just wanted to know the legal ramifications surrounding such a situation.

I think these are very good questions. I'm curious to know too.

Which takes me back to what i was asking before....
are you're MP's registered as an actual firearm? as in the police asked you to provide make madel and serial number?
or do you just have a pretty peice of paper saying you may possess something that looks like a gun... and by the way make sure it's locked up?

Points 12, 13, and 14 say that you can sell to another person if you've A) sighted their license or B) are a weapons collector/seller.... (IE a store or my dad and his museum.....
So if you wanted to sell to Gok or Tiby for example, they just gotta wave the paperwork at you....
Saying that..... refure to my last post as well... as depending on the answer to that there is more info to give... (Part of point 16)

No, they're registered as replica firearms. A few years ago a Karate instructor I knew was applying for a licence for his nunchakus and he asked me to sign the statutory declaration. When I later applied for my MP05 permit the process reminded me of what he went through for his nunchaku licence, so I'm guessing there's a similar process for the registration of non-ballistic weapons in NSW.
So if you wanted to sell to Gok or Tiby for example, they just gotta wave the paperwork at you....
That sounds right to me. Ask the buyer to show their permit. You don't need to examine their safe storage facilities; that's already a prerequisite for having the permit in the first place. So I'd imagine examining the permit should be sufficient. :)

No, they're registered as replica firearms.
I'm still not gettting the info i need...
So your saying they are registered as a replica.... so as well as the peice of paper to say you can have, you had to add it to either your personal registry (my dad has a list he can add to and take from any time just has to show the cops if they want to see it) or took into a firearms office and showed it to them and they listed it's info somewhere?

Okay, I hope I'm understanding your question correctly this time...
There's no such list as you've described to me. It's just a single permit which allows you to own all Megatron gun Transformers (and arguably other gun Transformers too like Browning). It's registration of a toy as a replica weapon for the purposes of a collection so the laws are different from registering an actual real weapon or firearm.
So I didn't have to specifically provide the NSW Police Firearms Registry with all the gun Transformers that I own (e.g.: MP05, G1 Megatron, Megaplex etc.) - I just applied for the permit and, AFAIK, the permit itself covers those toys and covers me if I obtain any more in future, I don't need to provide them with an update of what other gun TFs I have, only if my safe storage/security details change or if I change address etc.

Hmmm.... i think somethings wrong here....
points 16 and 17 on Goks paperwork says you need to keep a record of your "firearms"....
Who's not doing their paperwork?

I'm really not sure - I think Tiby might be the most qualified to answer this properly.
