View Full Version : How excited are you by the new movie toys?

With ROTF coming out very soon (yes, I'm excited) I noticed that some people on this (and other) forums are a little less enthusiastic about the ROTF toys we've seen so far.

So, forgetting the actual movie itself, how excited by the new ROTF toys/merchandise are you?

Please comment...

I went with Meh. Same as the last round of movie stuff. But I do have my eyes on a couple of figures.

Im only interested in the new voyager Starscream and a couple of the constructicons, most of the other stuff doesn't look that appealing. (Plus I'd rather have more Animated figures than these anyway!)

Welcome to 'meh' city, population 4 (for now).

Meh, Leader Prime will be my only purchase and it'll be for customising. Nothing heavy, just silver and chromes on the grey plastic with a wash of black ink.

I only have Soundwave and Bumblebee atm and I must say that:

+ Soundwave: Not terrible, but not overwhelmingly impressive either.
+ Bumblebee: Very disappointed. Especially considering how awesomesauce the original mould is.

I really hope the other toys will be better, but just going off the Preview figures I voted on "Meh – I’m really NOT digging what I’ve seen so far"

Mild interest - the ice-cream truck and Bludgeon are must-haves, some of the Scouts look interesting, hoping for a red Ironhide repaint, and waiting on the combined Arcee form/ridiculously cheap sales down the track to decide on the biker babe bots 'cos individually they's uuugly.

Since i never bought any of the original movie toys, and plus the fact that i've only restarted my TF collection last year, i'll be buying all of the new figures (except the FAB's, etc, aimed at younger fans). If funds and wife allow that is.

Yeah only saw the ROTF Bumblebee and gotta say he looks a bit dodgy-eyed... Soundwave should really be Voyager class... *sigh* Hasbro...

Mild.

Not all that fussed really. Will probably get a few, but if I miss them, I am not gonna cry about it.

I'm really glad Soundwave's not Voyager size. I'm sure he'll be gigantic in the movie, but for a toy like that with a very strange looking alt mode, I'm satisfied with Deluxe. Any bigger and I'd feel ripped off and be calling the toy an oversized DLX.

Only mildly... for me.
pretty keen on the ransack WW1 bi-plane dude. why has it taken so long to get something like this..!?!
and sideswipe.
i'll have to check out this bludgeon chap too. hadnt heard of that b4 now.

in between mildly & very, but since I'm a glass half empty guy I voted mildly.

I'll nab some constructions and Leader prime etc, not gonna go all out like I did on the first.

Some look like they will be interesting figures, like Sideswipe and Ravage for example. However, there are a few that are really iffy at the moment, mainly some of the jets and the Constructicons. Not really digging the aesthetic but applaud that they are doing something different than the same old biped humanoid thing.

mild for me
will pick up the newly announced legends, and maybe a few other deluxes, but thats about it, i just dont dig the facial designs etc

I vote mild as its middle of the road, but that's usualy how I approach most of Hasbro's lines.

I'll give them a chance cause that's the only way to know for sure like I did with the Movie and Animated line, but to be honest there are one or two GI Joe items that excite me more.

There are some nice different desgins, but wether I take a liking to these toys and am still interested by the time they are released will probably depend on who I pick up first. I started Animated on Lockdown and that was the end for me. For that reason I'm avoiding the preview figures.

Time will tell.

VOted mildly.

I'm only keen on getting leader prime.. and even then, I'm thinking of getting him only at a later date if he goes on sale or if a premium gets released.

As for the others, I'll wait till we see them pop up before deciding.

My pants have barely been on since I saw the ice cream truck twins.

Apart from that, I couldn't give a damn about anything else.

really looking forward to Leader Optimus and Megatron, these would look superb if released in Metallic by TakTom. My approach is a 'wait and see' and not be to concern with 'what new toys are released and when', maybe i can take advantage of older toys going on sale given the attention of ROTF toys. Overall i would like some more freedom earlier in the game for TaKTom to release some toys orientated towards collectors, if anything designed boxes and tech spec cards, even some cool inserts would be great.
overall some toys i would i get early

#Voice change Bumblebee
#Movie diorama with human alliance (really excited for these) 4 different types
#Devastator - i guess these will become popular
#Movie Robot heroes
#legends
#deluxe Ravage (good stuf)

Meh for me. That said, I KNOW I'll buy most of it just b/c there isn't much else on the shelves and my itch constantly burns!

Mildly here.
I will defenetly pick up most of the scout class, the Constructicons/Devastator, the twins (both icecream truck and Chevrolet versions), Soundwave and Ravage.
However I'm not liking the look of the bikes or the Fallen.

Im 'mildly excited' only because a) Do not have the space to put everything I would like to get. b) Do not have the money for it.

I liked the whole new design of transformers initiated by the Transformers (2007) movie. ROTF is a continuation of this design. It took a movie with real people and real vehicles to get toys that moved away from cartoon styled toys. For me, this was amazing. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into opening packaging and transforming some new molds!

Ones I'm looking forward to:
Voyager class toys..esp. Starscream (Nice largER size than the deluxes)
Deluxe class toys (ideal size and good price point)

and...... wait for it..

LEADER CLASS STARSCREAM!!

I haven't seen any pics, but PLEASE dearest folks at Hasbro, let this figure be UN-kibbletastic. I really don't wanna big ass F-22 Raptor with a heap of *blurrrrrghhh* jammed up underneath him looking as though he had a huge meal and is sitting on the couch with his pants button and half the zip undone.

Who is with me here..?

Mild.

It's mainly the Scouts, Ravage, Scorponok, and Tinystator that I'm interested in. I may get Sideswipe, and very very maybe may get Leader Jetfire if he goes on clearence like the Animated Leaders did.

I'll have mine mild like everyone else. I don't want to get too attached to this line as I won't have the cash (only 30 more years of mortgage) but I do like the moulds for trying kitbashes that would have been impossible before like that Voyger Megatron/Hordac. I want a go at that. Or a ROTF Voyger Megatron/Clawful.

Not excited at all! Saw the trailer the other day at the start of Wolverine... was more of the same. Have seen a few reviews and a few pics here and there... most seem pretty craptastic.
I'll go and see the movie and see what grows on me.

I voted mildly excited as it is in the middle because some figures look really cool (The Ice cream truck) and some look pretty pathetic.

Oh and I flat out refuse to buy Soundwave because standing his alt mode up on its end does not make it a triple changer:mad:

I wish they would make the packaging more compact for a collection of MIB. I so dislike big boxes with large vacuums of space with the actual toy floating in the middle. Definitely selective buying. Hard to resist when you face a big display of new transformers. I will be tempted.

GoktimusPrime

Japanese TF packaging is more compact and less wasteful of space. Unfortunately their movie line packaging is the same as Hasbro's, except for the blisters on carded toys. I'm not a MISP collector but I've also long disliked Hasbro's wasteful packaging - especially when you see a boxed toy where half the box is full of air. :/

After seeing the KMart ROTF guide... I'm much more excited. The line looks a lot better than the first movie range. I'm going to be buying a lot of them.

I don't think I need to post here in order for others to know my view of Movie figures. :o I don't know how some can look at Deluxe Sideswipe and say that its underwhelming... or even Scout Dirt Boss. A Forklift! *goes away in a dreamlike daze...*
