Window Tinting

Hey Guys,

So i'm 2 longs months away from being able to display my collection in my new place so its time to start getting things organized.

I have a question about window tinting.
My collection room has a window in it but its opaque wired security glass but it still lets alot of light through so I'm thinking about tinting it.

It has some aluminium blinds on it but i'd be worried to leave the open during the day only to have it yellow my Grand and Fort Maxs' which will be sitting in detolfs about 2.5 meters away but in direct view of the window.

are DIY solutions useless? how dark do i need to go to lower UV rays?
is there a 'clear' solution without darkening.

Has anyone paid to have this done professionally? if so i'm wondering if it costs a fortune. I'm sure it wouldn't really be worth it for 1 window though

I have some big black curtin's which work well at keeping the sun out and the room cool as a whole.

Window tinting is an option I have never thought of but I cant see any problems with it so long as you get a dark enough tint.

Most tints these days can block anywhere up to 99% of UV Rays. Probably best to measure up your window and ring/email around ann find out the UV %'s they block. If you only plan on tinting your collection window i don't think it would be that expensive.

Wow you find them I'll buy them.

I got a quote from tint professor. $400 for 2 medium size windows.
Unfortunately my glass is no flat if I remember correctly so it looks like it's curtains for me. Hmm maybe a piece of Perspex infront of my window would do the trick. It also kills 98% of UV RAYS. or I'm back to my original idea of custom Perspex cases for my maxes to keep them safe
