View Full Version : How do Legends contain so much win?

I mean honestly. They're 3" tall but contain so much unadulterated joy it's just silly.

Yes, this week I did receive my Henkei Minibots. Warpath is possibly the most glorious thing I've ever owned. Brawn and Beachcomber are almost as godly, but don't have elbows. Wheelie, Cosmos and Cliffjumper aren't as great but still buckets of fun crammed into a tiny package (is this starting to sound like an Asian personal ad? DOHOHOHO! Clam down Gok, I'm joking). I can't praise these things enough. Megatron, Jazz and Hound were pretty sweet too.

Legends! Who else loves these things? Why are they so great? Maybe it's best not to question it and just go with the flow. Now if you don't mind me and Warpath have some serious business to attend to.

...Blam! Boom! Kapow!..

I agree that the two waves of 25th Legends rock. They are always sitting close by and get transformed over and over..

Oh yeah - seriously, I LOVE these things too! :)

I got hooked on Legends when the first TF movie came out. Now I love em! The Animated ones are really fantastic (esp Prime, Prowl & Bumblebee), and I'm a huge fan of the new Universe ones... they are all brilliant!

I dunno, I think it's their simplicity which is really appealing. I always loved the G1 Minibots because of that, so maybe it's the same deal. They're tiny, clever, cute, fun to play with, and quick and easy to transform - which is a nice change from the bigger, more complex figures!

I started with some Movie Legends during the draught to satiate my fix. In hindsight, with slight exception (Bonecrusher), I don't think they compare to Hastak's recent efforts. The new Universe (incl. Animated) and Henkei ones are great!

Yeah, I had all the Movie ones (bought a job lot off eBay) and wasn't taken with any of them, except Scorponok. Cybertron ones were alright, but these Universe beasts are fantastic. I can't put the sodding things down.

My first toys were movie legends during the drought, where deluxes didn't even exist. i love mini-formers and its good to see you put alot of enthuiasm when playing with your toys

Legends were pretty crummy when they first came out in 2005 with Cybertron - part of the problem being that they were trying to scale down larger far more complex toys at the Legends scale. I skipped the vast majority of Cybertron Legends; I only have 2 and one was a gift! But recently HasTak have been getting better at doing Legends. I prefer Legends which are original toys specifically designed for that scale, such as the Universe Legends (e.g.: Beachcomber, tank Megatron, Bumblebee etc.) but I'm still not quite as impressed with Legends that are 'scale downs' of larger toys... Legends Animated Bumblebee is okay - not bad but not fantastic either; but I was really sorely disappointed with Legends Animated Prowl.

So yeah, for me, "original" Legends interest me more than "scale down" Legends. :)

I have no legends alas. I did want to get some of the universe ones, but recent price rises turned me off that idea.

My first Legends was Cyb starscream... Absolutely wonderful.... the rest of Cyb legends , meh. The new universe/Henkei ones absolutely agree.. wonderful little buggers!

Legends becomes even sweeter when they're a dollar cheaper. ;)
(e.g., Safeway yellow sale prices @ $7ish for earlier waves)

Wish these latest waves pop out on abundant retail soon.

My first Legends was Cyb starscream...

Me too, and while leobreaker was a let down, Megatron was interesting enough, and that whetted my apetite for the buggers, Legends Red Alert is awesomesauce, but the 25th Universe legends are the standouts, Hound, and Brawn in particular.

I'm only grabbing the minibot updates, so far I've only got Beachcomber and am waiting on Wheelie, Cosmos, and Warpath. Beachcomber is pretty sweet.
I do wish they'd redo some of the cassettes in Legends form though (though recent reissues and obsolete alt modes make that pretty unlikely). Reflector would be another good one, as would some Insecticons.

I don't think tapes are that obsolete. The bootleg G1 cassettes most corner stores in the UK sell (brightly coloured and the size of a proper cassette) are quite popular with the kids I look after. The novelty of a cassette that turns into something is as appealing to them as it was to us when we were 6.

And I've yet to meet any kid over the age of 4 who doesn't know what a cassette is. All Hasbro's herp-derp about nobody knowing what they are is nonsense.

it got me thinking about how a modern and updated Soundwave should look, the only thing that came remotely close was a Mini-disc player that died out like 8 years ago, with the mini-disc as his minions

Music Label Soundwave? Although admittedly he's an MP3 player that looks like a small cassette walkman... I suppose the closest would be Booster X10.

New movie legend prime is the ultimate mini-prime.... so perfect

Don't like Legends. Will skip them for the movie line "no matter the cost" :D

I bought the Minibots while very good for their size I much prefer scout size above. The Legends ultimately is a compromise offering from Hasbro. I generally will only get it if its G1 related or I'm mad keen on the character. Otherwise, I'll opt for the larger size class anyday of the week

I <3 Legends. This is mainly due to the Universe ones.

I think it's because they are mainly going off G1 now, and those designs weren't as complicated as the ones that have been scaled down for Legends in recent years.
