Apparently there will be both Soundtrack (songs) and Score (background music) released at the same time, June 23rd in America.

With the Score selling out for the first movie, proving the distributor wrong (it almost wasn't going to be released, and when it was a few months later, it sold out rather quickly). Besides, Soundtracks, like with TF1, are padded out with songs that aren't even in the movie.
The Amazon website has both listed already, but bear in mind that this is the US release. I would hope that both are being released here, and at about the same time.
Soundtrack - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00297FETY/
Score - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00297FEUI/

The Score appears to be by the same composer as the first one (Steve Jablonsky), so should be good (if you liked the first one).

The interesting thing to notice, if you haven't heard already, is that Linkin Park are again the feature group. Either they did really well from the first movie, or they are fans (or Michael Bay likes them).
According to a Linkin Park website (might be a fan-site),
http://lptimes.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1241654007&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1&
which was taken from the Linkin Park newsletter (which might be official),

the feature song by Linkin Park for the TF2 movie will be called 'New Divide', and it is being released May 18th (today by American time).
It is also being made available online for download through iTunes, which can be found from Paramount's own page:

As for the recent news and rumours about Stan Bush - yes, he wants something of his on the new soundtrack or in the movie, but nothing has yet been accepted by the Movie people (Stan submitted a reworked version of his classic, 'The Touch' song).

For those who have yet to see the '2009' version, you could have gone to youtube to see it here:

But after reading comments from fans over the clip, Stan removed that version, re-editted it, to include more movie footage.

(but there is already a topic in the movie news section about Stan's clips, so discussion can continue there about it, I'm just bunching all the movie music stuff together while I was researching it at the one time)

Hopefully the score will get a wide retail release this time around. Once again I expect the score to be far superior than the soundtrack.

Cheap Trick doing the transformers theme... interesting. I wonder if The Used "Burning Down the House" is a new track or a Talking Heads cover (I hope it is the later as that song rocks, especially when it is performed live.) Greenday and Hoobastank... Thats a shame:(

More big names for the sequel, not really impressed with the artist list though, Hoobastank were that band that sounded woeful on live tv, and Nickleback, Fray and Linkin Park make me think this is going to be a very soft rock/pop like album.
