Who here is a Gobots/Machine men closet fan??
Well, i am. The first release of Supers anyway.
I just won an auction of Psycho, Baron Von Joy, Staks (shit....really really shit) and Zeemon and apart from Staks they rock bigtime.
They are all heavy as all hell with diecast coming out the wahoo and their alt mode is just amazingly realistic. I also weirdly love the robot modes. Whilst i hated them as a kid i just love them now. They have grown on me and are all just really cool as hell. Now i just need Bugbite, Herr Fiend (way cool name) and Destroyer and ill be happy as Larry.

Yeah I think they're cool. So cool Hasbro ripped off the idea of them to create Transformers.
I have some but not many. When I get them I add them to either my Autobot or Decepticon armies.
Buggy Man f***ing rocks!!!

I am a fan of Machine Robo (the original Japanese versions) but not of Gobots/Machine Men... :p

Who here is a Gobots/Machine men closet fan??I didn't know they made closets! ;)

But, yes... I'm a fan! :) I grew up with Machine Men too (History has been unkind to the GoBots but, back in the day, their rivalry and popularity was strong.). In fact, I got my second "Super" Cy-Kill (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showpost.php?p=101054&postcount=464) last Sat at the Mega Toy Fair.

I once drew a 20+ page spread of generic Gobots fighting generic Renegades. I was 10 or 11 then, so I guess that makes me a closet fan.

But the only episode I liked (probably the only one I watched too) was the one about them finding ancient Machine Men in the centre of Gobotron (was the episode called "The Gobots / Renegades that Time Forgot" or something like that?).

I used to really hate them - anyone who's ever seen my "Destruction of the GoBots" web page can attest to that. But nowadays I don't like nor hate them, since they've been officially assimilated into Transformers continuity... and in a way where the GoBots really got screwed over nastily. ;)

I like em, they're simple yet die cast. I have a bunch of em , the doggie base for the Guardians and the super big version of the leaders - Leader1 ( not a minicon!) and Cykill.

In 1985, I won a limited edition gold Baron Von Joy in a competition. He was awesome and there were only ever 50 of them in the world, I believe. So I probably shouldn't have sold him for next-to-nothing in a nineties garage sale. :p

I had heaps as a kid. I loved them, but I preferred my Transformers. Haven't really experienced them since then. Wouldn't mind checking out a few now, but I need nothing new to collect.

I really like the way the Gobots are meant to be organic. It's an interesting backstory and I still have a few lying around.

I do like the ones that transform into vehicles TF's haven't tried or done well (Badboy), and the wierd monster ones and Rocklords. :)

Though the regular car and truck Gobots are of little interst to me.

Cybernetic to be precise. They have organic brains but otherwise their bodies are entirely mechanical. Although I guess this means that unlike Transformers, once a GoBot is dead there's no way they'd ever come back to life. :p

Star Trek Spoiler Ahead

I guess the surviving GoBots living in the Transformers universe must feel a lot like the Vulcans in Star Trek after Nero destroyed their world. I can imagine Road Ranger saying something like, "I am now a member of an endangered species." ;) Maybe that's why Bug Bite's death was so suggestive, whereas usually in Transformers we often see TFs being massacred, torn apart, blown to bits etc. - if we ever saw Classics Megatron blowing off Bug Bite's head we'd probably see his organic brain getting splattered. ;)

Thanks for those pics robzy.

Its funny I never appreciated these guys as a kid but now I love looking at pics of them, so nostalgic. Anyone ever get gobots as b'day gifts because aunts and uncles thought they were 'the same thing' as TF's?

If any of the originals were re-issued encore style I'd buy for sure.

I think I was a bit young for the toys but I remember my Dad recording episodes for me to watch. :D I loved it. A lot of the figures and their alt modes intrigue me, never enough though to pick any up.

That is a really neat collection Robzy. :)

They were also cheaper than Transformers. But Transformers were worth paying more for. :)

Here's my three Go Bots

http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/7002/gobots.th.jpg (http://img31.imageshack.us/i/gobots.jpg/)

The Snoop is the only Go Bot I have owned since new. I used to have a Turbo, the first "transformer" I ever got, but lost it over the years, and got another, plus Crasher, off eBay.

It is interesting that Snoop was never sold in the US, and gets good money over there compared to other Go Bots.

I kind of liked the Machine Men. Cartoon entertained me as a kid, but TFs won over coz they were eeer, bigger(?):p

I quite like the old Rocklords/Machine men movie and even hired it on video a couple of years ago....

Was Machine Men the series that had the suites that you could put the vehicle mode robots into as a sort of gestalt-like mega robot? I always wanted one of them.:o

Your mum was just years ahead of her time. She was buying two Baron Von Joys - one to keep MISB, one to display loose.

Or maybe she was scalping. ;)
