My oppinion is that he doesn't look NOTHING like Leo Prime/Lio Convoy.
Lio Convoy looks like this:

Not like this:

Its clear that they tried to give him G1 Optimus Prime colors thinking that would make him more attractive to people who do not know the original Japanese character but in my oppinion, it fails misserably not only as a character tribute but on all levels.

Well that's handy because he's not supposed to be the same character. He's red because Prime is red and it's a color that tends to "pop" on toy shelves.
For the record the toy... is what it is. Both modes are severly sacrificed for a third mode which is now no longer relevant (phantom-limb mode perhaps?) and the gimmicks are either questionable (claws) or now no longer exist (sound chip). If you like what you see in the box buy it - that's all there is.
That said... I like him. I dig the new head sculpt - even if Prime shouldn't have long flowing hair - and there's something about the mold that makes me forgive its myriad of short comings.
Just don't buy it at the full Voyager price.

I am not a fan of the mold but he does make a good Razorclaw tribute much more than Prime.

He is supposed to be a representation of Lio Convoy:

I was going to pass on him but his bio made me change my mind. I was really disappointed that the sound chip had been removed, but for $25 I would have been happy (spent more on him myself).

He looks nice when hooked up to Cybertron Optimus Prime - a better color match than Leo Breaker.

Thats an interesting idea... Anyone have images of this?
klystron, I would not pay more than the $25 for this mould, the soundbytes are actually half the reason why I like my Nemesis Breaker (has the exact same cat "roar" as the Penrith panthers play when they make a good run), and they have been removed from Leo Prime.
I like the mould even if it is pretty crap (but I also liked Cybertron Saidos/Backstop...)

In the Diggerverse this guy is actually the pet of the true Optimus Prime.

1. I already have the Robot masters shiny chest one, which is more comic/show accurate, that will suffice for me
2. No, the comics will be wrong im sure, like the first movie prequel comics there will be last minute changes in the film and the film is more important then the comics. Also i dont want to read them so it will spoil the movie for me

Thanks very much everyone.
Like Tiby, the bio really grabbed me. But having said that, I think I will give it a miss. That $25 might be better put toward ROTF Starscream. Or one of the Human Alliance items.
PS - I have the comics, but am not reading until after the movie. I was just interested in what others were doing, but didnt want to start a thread on it.

Didnt read the prequels, doesnt affect the movie anyways. As for this figure Meh for me. didnt have the original mold for it ( cyb leo) as i didnt find it interesting, even for that price. Kinda like the other 2 Cyb repaints now on $25 - Dropshot and that MIxer guy ( minicon goodness) they're both $25. Was almost tempted yesterday, almost was up to the counter but still had enough willpower to drop and leave em.....:o Im gonna be concentrating a bit more in getting my G1 parts now that the TFs out in the market are kinda meh for me.....
