Favourite subgroup

What's your favourite Transformer sub-group?

(A subgroup, in case you don't know, is a bunch of Autobots/Decepticons in their own little division, e.g. Constructicons)

I think mine would be the Dinobots. Aside from the fact that I really like dinosaurs, I like how they're characterised as being, essentially, Autobot beserkers who generally do their own thing and are only Autobots because a) they started out as Autobots and b) they dislike Megatron more than Optimus Prime.

I like their G1 comic incarnations better than the cartoon versions (who went from being 'dumb but strong' to being simply dumb in season 3), and I think Animated's Dinobots, while pretty cool, didn't live up to their potential as much as they could have done since they became pets for whoever showed up on Dinobot Island.

Count me in for Technobots! Thought they looked cool in the cartoons and I loved the fact that the toys were armed to the teeth in vehicle mode.
They narrowly beat out the Predacons (who should be portrayed as totally unstoppable, rather than jobbing out to Jazz in the IDW-verse and SkyLynx in the cartoon). I just loved the orange colour scheme, it's hard to make orange look good!

definitely the mini-vehicles , lovable characters such as Bumblebee, Gears, Brawn , Powerglide, Seaspray, Cosmos . Any episode that features their awesome unique personalities i love, i love watching that episode where Gears turns nice :D and that episode where Brawn gives perceptor a hard time , also the transmetals 1 & 2 are pretty cool

Looking them up on the TF Wiki, I think Hasbro should consider doing updated, combining versions of them. Not only would they have all the good stuff that modern toy engineering offers, the spaceship Technobots would look like spaceships and not blocks of plastic with wings and stuff glued on.

Head Formation! It has to be the Headmasters. Being an older fan who remembers Diaclone fondly, I always missed the little pilots/drivers which came with Diaclone toys when they were rebranded as Transformers.

Headmasters reintroduced that gimmick and improved upon it by making the pilots themselves transformable!

Big fan of abominus in the animated 80's series as well, but his figure isn't bad ass enough with those skinny legs.

I like the variety of personalities - the pacifistic dreamer, the berserker, the medic, the detective and the non-stop leader.

Plus Defensor was my first gestalt combiner.

Grew up watching The Ultimate Weapon and Surprise Party on VHS as a kid. Probably either the Protectobots or Combaticons. Something about Vortex and Swindle was cool, even though they were sneaky guys.

My favourite Autobot subgroup - The Dinobots. Who doesn't like a group of Dino transformers, led by none other than Grimlock!

My favourite Decepticon subgroup - The Combaticons, just edging out the Constructicons. I like their 'British' arrogance in the G1 Cartoon, Swindle just tops them off as one of the best characters from a relatively minor team.
