Recently i purchased some g1 toys from ebay. I received them and they all turned out to be knockoffs rather than originals (very disappointing). Aswell as being charged $15 U.S more than what was originally agreed for postage. I have taken this up with Paypal and they are currently investigating my issue.

They have replied to me with:

"To continue with the investigation of your complaint, we must request
documentation to support your claim that the item is not authentic. Please
obtain a document from an unbiased, third-party, such as a dealer,
appraiser, or an organization that is qualified in the area of the item in
question (other than yourself), which clearly identifies the item as not
authentic. The document must specifically state how the item received
differs from an authentic item and must include a detailed explanation of
how the person evaluating the item determined that it is not authentic. If
possible, the document should include a serial number, and must be on
letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the
business or organization so that PayPal may contact them if necessary. "

I will appreciate all help. i had originally asked the seller if they were genuine from the 1980s and not KO's and he said "they all are except 2". How disgusting.

Thanks team

Yep they are all worthless knockoffs.

Could you please post the original ebay sale item number? It will help with someone assisting you in the dispute as we can argue against the item description.

I am happy to write a letter for you but someone with more weight as a collector would be more credible such as Griffin or Tiby (who has appeared on TV :)).

the item is 320380180301 as i am new to this i asked the seller to confirm this and i have forwarded the correspondence to paypal. All help would be appreciated even if i can get a few letters so i can fax them through. It would be appreciated. I have PM'd both moderators and waiting for a further reply.

Yeah he doesn't specify if they are KO or legit on his item description but despite this, Ebay has a policy on selling counterfeit toys so the seller is still clearly in the wrong and your email reconfirms that.

Like mentioned, I have no 'official' weight as a collector as some others so I am not sure how credible I could be to Paypal but i am happy to write a letter and email it to you.

In the future when you see an auction like this with no one bidding on it - have a good look, as there is probably something not right about it. Always do your research (http://www.tfu.info/1986/Autobot/Defensor/defensor.htm) or ask a question here before bidding.

Get a GOOD camera and meet up with someone with the toys.... then line them up to show the Copyright info on the original, and lack thereof on the fakes

It's clear as rain that they are KO - Look at Hotspot's colors and stickers as well as the too bright green of the Constructicons. Silverbolt is way too bright and you can tell that the plastic is of low quality as its too gloss instead of flat, his gold is also way too shiny and again the stickers give it away.

I will try to get this letter done for you today but if I can't I'll have it done by tomorrow sometime.

BTW: I think the copyright info on these toys also says Hasbro so may not be a good idea to do that.

You can report the user to eBay for selling counterfeit items which is against eBay user terms of service.

i spoke to paypal today and they need someone who preferebly owns a website that deals with the figures or has a business which has a letter head to authenticate the documents. They are only interested in documentation unfortunately. All help will be appreciated.

Maybe you could contact one of the admins of those sites I linked and ask them?

I can understand your dismay with being sold KO's. But don't you think you're being a tad bit rude there. The people trying to help you in the post don't have to help you. They only directed you to other areas because they themselves arn't able to help not because they don't want to help.

The only legit "third-party, such as a dealer, appraiser, or an organization" that I can think of doing such verification is AFA.

It is actually infact one of their services. However, the costs of doing so makes it pointless when you take into account the return shipping costs.

Third Party Reference for eBay and PayPal Disputes

Can I use AFA as a Third Party Reference in an eBay or PayPal dispute to verify the condition of an item that was purchased?
Yes, AFA offers condition verification as a third party source to assist buyers in eBay and Paypal disputes.

What are the steps in the condition verification process?
The item will be reviewed by the Graders with all flaws and/or reasons for refusals noted. This information will be provided on AFA letter head and signed by the proper authorities. Once this is complete, the letter and item will then be shipped back to you.

How long does this process take?
Because we understand that you will need this information back within a timely fashion, the process will only take 1-2 business days.

How much does this service cost?
The price for all items submitted under this service is $25.00 plus return shipping and insurance.

Do I need to fill out a submission packet for this service?
Yes, as we keep track of all items submitted by our customers.

If only we can ask the party at fault to pay for the AFA expense... :(

Maybe you could have given a polite PM to Griffin and not getting upset at others?

How did this go?

finally resolved it yesterday. The guys in the state from paypal kept giving me stupid excuses and rejecting documentation and automatically closing the case to avoid being wrong. Eventually i got a supervisor to only refund the item cost not including the postage which i also got ripped on and totalled for $50 of the total price. I wasnt happy with that result as it showed that they were realising they were wrong and wanted to negotiate cheaply out of it. I eventually took it up with an executive manager who just reimbursed me out of goodwill.

Paypal will do all it can to not pay out on claims whether its timing or lame excuses. They were very hard to deal with and i hope i never have to go through it again. I only wish i bought it locally as i would of fixed the seller up the old fashioned way or more modernly the western suburbs way.

Kup uve been a tremendous help and i appreciate what u have done, aswell as griffin. But after they started to pick at the combined letter i knew it was enough b.s so i had to take it to the next level even though i was already dealing with someone above the agent's level.

:oOnly just noticed this thread, good to see you got some sort of resloution eventually, bank or Paypal it's still a painful process to get your money back. I might have to wait up to 3 months for the bank to sort out my hacking problem with my credit card:rolleyes:

thats awful, my main issue was the principle that the seller was deceitful and told me lies.

but credit card fraud is a whole new level : /
