I mentioned in the Acquisitions thread that I have been waiting since the middle of march for a reprolabels order. The order was for 2 slag sheets and one Grimlock sheet. After 3+ months, 5 emails and a failed paypal claim (the claim period had expired) they finally came in the mail the other day!

Now the first slag sheet went fully to my loose g2 red slag. In my opinion the toy that I have lived with for 4-5 months is at least 3-4 times as good with correct labels on. But here is the rub... Next to g2 green slag, who I purchased misb, then applied original decal sheet with patience and love... the red one with the reprolabels looks much nicer. The die cutting, stock and especially the colour... the inks are richer and catch the light much better.

A few weeks ago Griffin stated:

...I prefer not to use reprolables, so that my TFs are 100% 'pure' or legit. If I start getting into repro-stickers, I'd probably then start buying repro-parts and then other custom stuff. I'm just picky about that sort of stuff I guess...

And while I cannot fault the size or quality of his collection... I can't help but wonder how much nicer some of his toys could look with fresh reprolabels. So I'm attempting a poll.

While I generally prefer reprolabels because, as mentioned, the colours are richer, it's not always the case as some of the metallic coloured stickers aren't as nice or metallic as the original ones.

There's also the convenience factor as original stickers aren't always available and one thing people should be aware of;
Reprolabels sticker sheets are obvious reproductions as their layout on the sheet is different but there are ebay sellers that sell exact reproductions and pass them off as genuine.

Sucks a bit on your wait time there drj.

I prefer repro labels if the genuine is not available (which is the case most of the time).

Did you seriously wait 3 months to receive these?

It's been over two months for me, numerous emails, and still waiting for stickers from them for my Wheeljack and Roadbuster.

I am really hesitant to use them again in the future, unless they fix up their postage issue, or at least allow international sales to use something better than ordinary air mail.

Yeah, I was very patient... they had moved loctation in that time (or so I've read) and they are pretty notorious for having slow/ delayed international postage. It's one of those things that you try and forget about and get a nice surprise when it shows up. My guess is they forgot to ship with everything going on and only realised till the 4th email. Apparently info@ email address is pretty bad... delta@ was the one that finally worked.

I know exactly what you mean. One thing they have in their favour is that they include both factory and sheet decals most of the time. I have read some good things about tfstickers might try them next... another canadian company.

Yeah, I'd give them a try for Jetfire labels, since they are also cheaper than Repro. However they do not have any Roadbuster ones at the moment

I think it's the Canadian thing though... I once ordered repro smokestacks for G1 prime from ages3andup, my order for 2 pairs only contained one pair. I emailed them and ordered 2 more pairs, asking them to also include the missing pair from the first order, and they agreed. It all came good in the end... it was just so much like pulling teeth.

I've ordered some stickers from reprolables, but how do they come envelope or package? I don't want my dad throwing it out thinking it's junk mail.

Semi-tough cardboard Envelope.

My stance on reproduction labels is that I will only use them if the bot in question is lacking in major aesthetic quality because it doesn't have any present labels at all. If a transformer in my collection has at least roughly 49% of its original stickers still intact then I would not bother by applying reproduction labels. It has to be below this percentage for me to consider using them.

My opinion on reproduction labels is different from reproduction parts. I am against reproduction parts 99% of the time and I would prefer not to have the parts at all if they are not genuine. It is easier to determine if you're using repro labels than repro parts. Take for example vintage Star Wars action figures. It is sometimes difficult for me to determine out of the action figures weapons that I own which are vintage and which are newer reproductions. Obviously the vintage will be worth something where as the repro's will be next to worthless.

I agree with this to an extent. I didn't proceed with an order for reproduction dinobot swords because I only really want genuine versions. Having said that... I did replace all of the broken and small smoke stacks on my G1 prime moulds with Ages3andup reproduction stacks.

I've never actually used any 'reprolabels', but I'm not against them in theory - I've bought plenty of second-hand G1 toys from people who seem to have had no idea how to read a sticker application chart and it would be theoretically nice to have stickers in the right places. On the other hand I'm 100% against 'repro parts' and 'repro (KO) toys' and would never buy one of either of these bootleg 'products' - all they do is pollute the pond of existing Transformers with substandard fakes and parts of fakes.

I like reprolabels - You won't believe how much life they bring back to on an old beaten up G1 toy. It really contributes to improving something that looks like crap into something that one would be proud to display. They are also a god send for toy restoration.

There is nothing that makes me happier than giving a toy regarded as a junker some new life.

I have them on most of my G1 transformers, as i feel that i know i will nver sell any of my transformers so its ok. Applying repolabels gives life back to worn out looking figures and makes them look new again, so for that reason i am for them :D

Have you emailed both addresses? I emailed one address a few times (Without checking... info@reprolabels.com) and only got an answer when I emailed someone else (Again, without checking... delta@reprolabels.com) when I was finally answered it said "sorry so-and-so's emails haven't been getting through... will resend your order" or something like that. Try filing a claim with ebay, it either won't work or will work and get closed immediately... this should at least open up Reprolabels eyes.

I haven't emailed the second one, but have been told my order has been reposted at least twice. I brought the items through their webpage, not eBay, and I think Paypal has a time limit that you can put a complaint through.

My opinion;
I don't think it is a change of ownership (but I don't know)
I think they moved to a different location, the move caused orders from a specific time period to be lost/ unfilled.
There was also a huge move to catch up on orders completely, this may have led to them using outside labour or working beyond capacity.

Either way they seem like a basically honest company that have seen things get much bigger than they expected.

The original was chromed - The stickers are there to help you restore the chromed look on a worn figure. I think the Autobot sticker is purely optional - I have not seen many figures with it.

Welp, Paypal did nothing, never got any replies from Reprolabels. Feel ripped off and annoyed, especially since the TFs I want labels for are not being done by other TF labels sites.

I'll keep my eyes out for the next time someone does a group order for Reprolabels, and see how I go with a bulk order.

:confused:I couldn't tell you, if the toy itself was good and the stickers were degraded to the point that it made the toy look crap then vamping it up with Reprolabels wouldn't be an issue for me, there are G1 purists out there that might chuck a bit of a wobbly about this but not many I would think;):)

I'm a vintage G1 purist but I don't mind buying a revamped G1 original with minty fresh repro labels - but I won't go out and buy those sheets myself.

Having said that, I believe these labels do add value to a figure (especially fort max). I mean, if you think about it, comparing two mint figures; one with brand new stickers and the other without - I'd say most people would choose the one that looks more appealing on display.

Though like orion said, this may put off a few g1 collectors who despise repro in any form.

Reprolabel prices sorta suck as well. I got my stickerless complete metroplex for $50, but I'm not gona pay another $26US for those labels.

So at the end of the day - I'd say value can be increased, but only if the price is right for the figure you're upgrading.

[edit] I've also noticed repro stickers can be cheaper on ebay

In my experience ordering from Canadian businesses like tfstickers.com or http://videogamesplus.ca/ results in the items being received in a week, but if you order something from an individual on ebay...You'll be waiting an eternity!

I have ordered from them. The items were sent quick enough, however:

- Some of the labels for G1 Scorponok were scratched and some of the labels were faded.

- The Jetfire stickers I got were not cut properly, and scratched easily.

Their sticker quality has certainly dropped - The stickers are now too thick to properly stick in curbed surfaces. I don't know when this started but the stickers are no where near as good as they were a few months ago.

I bought Pretender Starscream stickers and they kept peeling so I had to add glue paste. A shame really since I had reprolabels in very high esteem but unfortunately they are the only option for stickers.
