Buster Optimus Prime is described as having lights and sounds, and mech-alive gimmicks. It is also listed for 8,190 yen with a discounted price of 7,371 yen(which is the cost of the leader class figures). Could this be a retooled version of the leader class figure with blasters, as shown in the beginning of the movie and video game? Or could it in fact be, a set of all new voyager class, Optimus Prime and Jetfire figures which can combine?

Can't say this wasn't expected. :p
But could still be something entirely different until we get some pictures.

Encore Skids is a nice opportunity for those who don't have an original or earlier reissue.

It's also interesting to note a black version of Alternity Megatron in the schedule. :p

So it looks like just the standard leader prime but smokestacks convert into guns? Anyone seeing it differently?

Ah, it also has "open face". That's cool with me.

I'll grab one. Hope hope it has more detailed paint apps and less Hasbro gray.

Upon closer inspection the two parts combine into ONE gun only and not two guns. Am still happy with it though. :p

Nonetheless still pretty cool, at least he has a different head. Not sure about the name though, don't we have enough gangsta reffereances in this line already. :D

Looks as nice as many of the good fan repaints!

I'm glad the gray grey is now done in a metallic colour so the figure can still look nice without scratching crazy like chrome. But in this pic the front of the truck could still be chrome though (it gets folded underneath the two feet in bot mode).

This would make an excellent display piece. I hope its the final version and not a prototype.

I would really love one of these. Is at all likely that Hasbro would do one similar to this?

If you currently pre-order a case of 4 from the Japanese Toy Wholesaler, plus EMS shipping, these come to approxiamately $95-$100 each by my calculations. If there is an interest for these from Brisbane members, I will consider been a part of it. I would initiate the pre order myself, but I have already placed orders for other transformers from online shops and ebay, and I am not keen on overloading myself.

I'm not convinced the front is chrome just yet - look at his left hand in robot mode, it's just as bright as the front of the truck - probably just the effects of the lighting.

The toolbox's lack of paint on this and the original release is probably due to body profile balance. Prime's CG design doesn't have big silver toolboxes on his legs. On the original prototype mold, the toolboxes could fold away flatter against his legs, but since there were changes to the mold due to cost-cutting, you have big boxes on his legs.

So you get silver paint on the side of the toolboxes for truck mode, but blue on top of the toolboxes so they (sorta) blend in with the blue of the legs in robot mode.

Though, i still would of preferred "it" to have been completely coloured Grey, Because the way "the" colour's are now, are really bothering me in both Vehicle and Robot modes.:(

Perhaps they should post it in different languages, so them "stupid tourists" :p;) would get it and obey. And for added assurance that everyone does obey the signs, have a security officer with a Bokken ready, standing by to swat any camera happy non law abiding attendees. I'm GUESSING probable but if that wouldn't happen like the MP UM/MP Convoy local retail, my prediction is that Hasbro might re-release buster OP in time for the 3rd movie but it couldn't be as sterling as this Takara version anymore.

My thoughts are that if the final toy is to look like the pic, Hasbro would not be able to offer it at their current price point, and thus, I don't expect them to release it. The mold might come out here (with the new gun and face), but I don't think there's much of a chance of it having the paint job shown in that pic.

It looks a lot more "finished" that the standard Leader OP with the chrome instead of the unpainted grey.
