Week 2 of its release, and it has already passed the half a billion US dollar mark, which is a extraordinary amount.
It managed to fend off Ice Age 3 (the big openner of last week) to retain the #1 spot in week 2, but failed to sustain the second week popularity of the first movie. TF1 only had a 47% drop in week 2, while TF2 had a 61% drop, suggesting that 'word of mouth' isn't as supportive in the sequel, as it was with the first one.

TF2 will still pass the total takings of the first movie, in a matter of days, but its popularity appears to be dropping off, well before the opening of Harry Potter 6, which is expected to crush all opposition in its opening week.

Foreign - $307,921,442
Worldwide - $607,683,781
Budget - $200 Million

(interesting to see TF1 and TF2 hold the records for 'single day takings' for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively)
And in its first week of release, Australia has contibuted almost US$17 million to that total, which makes us the fourth highest earner outside of America, behind the UK, China and Sth Korea.
And we also saw TF2 take out the #1 spot for its second week in Australia, against Ice Age 3 as well.
The takings for the second week were AU$6,269,589, for a total of AU$27,235,703.
