Well personally I can't think of a more romantic place in the world for that.

Well done!

Well, she loves Ford, and I thought it would be cool.
Was down in pit lane on the Wednesday before the race (we get there early to set up)
Plus it was on our 17 month (if only it was a month later :p)

Well 17 is a good number if she is a Ford fan. Big Dick and little Dick johnson's car number. Might be a good sign! BTW go Murph and Skaife this year!!!

I don't have plans of going this year but have been 4 times before, last time was the one just after Brocky died.
It is an Australian event that every guy should go to, I can't say I would take my Mrs though.
The last one I went to was a very surreal event, I still remember looking to my right during the minute silence after the parade lap of Brock's old cars and seeing tears roll out behind the sunnies of a big burly bikie looking dude.

I still P.O'd at my old work over last years Bathurst. I won tickets for the Castrol booth through a promotion they ran (Since I was in charge of Parts and Accessories I ordered the workshop oil, so I entered the competition and I won the tickets) The Dealer Principal (the title of the person in charge of a car dealership for those who are unaware) took himself, the workshop manager, his brother in law and a family friend.

I can't believe that those two hotheads are driving together... :p

I haven't been to Bathurst for years now, but I used to go every year when Brocky was driving.

Should be a god race with all the wet weather expected during the week, just hope someone stops the 888 car getting four in a row, but unless a Roo tries to kill Lowndes again, I cant really see anyone doing it. As much as it pains me to say it, the Fords are just better cars this season.

And have been for quite some time now lol.

about 5 years now. But then Holden dominated for the 3-4 years beforehand.

Be interesting to see how team Vodafone fairs with proper manufacturer backing from a different manufacturer.

What an awesome race it was... I sat in front of my TV all day and was rather smashed by the time the win was taken, but I enjoyed every minute of it .. Alot of spills and thrills and even alot of close calls with walls and other cars all made for some exciting racing indeed ... I really want to actually attend one year in the future ...

Pretty good race, not as many big accidents this year, which is good. (Im all for minor bingles and wall hits, but never like seeing complete wrecks)

Loved seeing winterbottom get set alight, he should have been suspended for the race after that accident he caused on Saturday.

Lowndes was unlucky when his clutch died, but also lucky that Steven Richards is such a good driver that stopped the two of them having a good touch up in Pit lane early on.

9/10 cars in the top ten were Holdens, seems the Fords didnt have the set-ups to manage the changing conditions.

True, there were not too many spills, some close when they were on slicks and it was wet, they were sliding all over the place.

There was a minor accident with the V8 Utes before the big race, locked up around the first corner bounced off one wall and into the other, and I had a perfect view of it.

Aside from the freezing weather, it was a great weekend.

If anyone enjoys camping, drinking, and V8 Racing, I'd highly recommend going. It is more of a family thing now with the bigger police presence, which I like because there is less problems with people causing s***.

Another year, another Bathurst.

I'll be there for the 4th time in a row, heading up for a week this time. Head up Tuesday morning, leave following Monday morning.

So to find something to do on the days before the races start, I will be looking around the town, hunting for Transformers. Up on the mountain, I will be drunk and probably playing WFC on DS, or reading. Watch tv too :p

And I will have internet access as well, father in law is bringing his laptop and our old broadband stick.

Should make for a great week.

And a much earned break for the pair of you I suspect. :D

Sounds like it is going to be a good trip this year, I was actually gonna suggest that you go hunting around the Bathurst area. :p

As for motoring allegiances, Go Lio Convoy!:p

when will other manufactures come in, is it 2011?

There have been rumours ever since Chrysler/Valiant left the competition and Nissan Skylines were ruled out.

I honestly don't think we are likely to see a third manufacturer enter the competition any time soon, for many reasons but mostly the fact that Holden and Ford make too damn much money out of it to let anyone else in.

Unfortunately, the Bathurst Annual has become far too commercialised and is no longer accessible to the 'everyday rev-head', there are a number of lower tear competitions and club runs that utilise the Mount Panorama circuit but it's no longer like the era that Brocky started in - that's for sure.

I think this is the first year in ages where there are likely to be only half a dozen true contenders. Not saying that a darkhorse wont win it (its always possible at Bathurst) but there are 2-3 teams from each manufacturer that just have more money and more equipment capable of winning it.

Well Blackie, they did... All the Time! :p
That is why they were ruled out of the competition - because the only thing that could beat a Skyline was another Skyline. :D

My personal favourite were the Mini Cooper S! :D
There is something just utterly entertaining about watching Minis literally run rings around the pack of Big V8s, weaving through them like they were stationary. :p
Of course, when they got to Conrod...:p

I have the weekend off for it but i was convinced not to go.
Mates told me that i need a portable TV and that if i don't get there sooner i won't see anything.
I still really have to go one day.
:(
I'll sit at home and watch it on the big screen and then i'll go for a drive in my GT-P in the ads :)
