The Tamiya Rough Rider was one of the pioneer off road RC cars, originally released in 1979. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Rough Rider, Tamiya have reissued the Rough Rider as the Buggy Champ, with the same parts and shell as the Rough Rider.

And I got mine today :D

Going to be busy building this on the weekend :D

How much? Full kit? Have to assemble?

I've got a tl01 awd road car, I'm now looking at a buggy, 2wd or 4wd.

Is this worth it over say, the plasma edge? Or is it just for historical/nostalgia?

I have brought it mainly for nostalgia purposes, however a local off road club does enduros for vintage or re-issued old models, so might race it there.

Very nice.

Amazing how things have progressed though. While I liked the old driver in the cockpit mouldings, it's things like coil overs and other "real car" tech that you just take for granted these days in the modern sets.

But I also liked the assemble it yourself side of those older ones too.

Lordy, any chance of posting some details of the mob you bought your RR from?
Am looking to get back into R/C after many years out of the picture - so long in fact
the original RR was run of the mill - and with a few young kids am wanting a full
builder.
Appreciate the advances as noted above in buggies of late, however without racing
in mind and no clue as to what else to check out, the re-RR jumps out.
Any help or heads up on other options would be greatly appreciated.
