View Full Version : The Primes competition.

griffin
26th July 2009, 11:55 PM
In the ROTF Movie, there were 7 Primes - one of which had a name change to 'The Fallen' when he betrayed his six brothers.

Make a list of 7 potential Prime names and post them here. The most interesting list will win a Movie Prime toy of your choice up to the Deluxe 'price point' (Legends, Robot Heroes, Robot Replica, Gravity Bot, FAB, RPMs Minivehicles). Then, I will randomly select 3 entries from those posted here - First will win a Deluxe figure of their choice, Second will win a Scout figure of their choice, Third will win a Legends figure of their choice. Chosen figures must be currently available here, or soon will be.

Competition ends at the end of Sunday 2nd August (Brisbane time).
One entry per person.

*I have looked to see if the Movie Primes were already given names somewhere officially, but couldn't find anything. If there already is, just ignore them and still post your own list.

Optimus Prime has Latin Origins, Zed (it means "best first"). (But that's no reason why there can't be Greek Primes and I like your idea.)

I reckon that legends of the primes' existence on earth, manifested through time and history and eventually became the basis for what early mankind referred to as their Egyptian gods:

Ra Prime (God the Sun)
Nuit Prime (God of the Sky)
Geb Prime (God of the Earth)
Amun Prime (God of Creation)
Thoth Prime (God of Wisdom)
Ma'at Prime (God of Justice)
Sekhmet Prime (God of Destruction, aka Fallen)

There was actually 13 original primes (created by Primus) but by the time they arrived on earth to harvest the sun's energy, only 7 remained...

I had a read about the combination of the Greek, Indian and Chinese Fantasy Elements. If you're interested, here's a link to the article (http://www.friesian.com/elements.htm). Assuming that the All Spark cube writings does look like a combination of Greek / Indian and Chinese, I came up with the following: (Names are in bold)

Air - Exosphere
Water - Hydronel
Metal - Lanthanum
Aethur - The Acquitter
Fire - The Fallen
Wood - Elthemus
Earth - Terranel

You can add the word Prime behind or you don't have too - just like how sometimes we just call Optimus or Rodimus. ;)

Has anyone noticed my little joke with Aegir "Joe" Convoy? No? :(

Answer: Aegir is the Norse God of the sea but is also phonetically similar to the Japanese word "eiga" which means movie (movie universe). 'Convoy' is obviously the Japanese equivalent of "Prime." "Joe Convoy" is the name used by Beast Wars Megatron in Transformers Animated's 'Bee in the City' where BW Megatron attempted to obtain Sari's cosmic MacGuffinKey. :p

Haha Gok...I am almost certain that whenever you throw up one of your 'in-jokes' with a ;) at the end that practically no-one gets it because of the obscurity of the fact or reference in question. I'm not saying to stop or that there's anything wrong with it...I'm just sayin' is all. :)

Together they form a team known as Henshin Sentai Prime Ranger! (Transformation Battle Squad Prime Ranger) :D

Get it?!

Answer: The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers is derived from various Tokusatsu series in Japan which typically contain the words "Sentai" (battle squad) and "Ranger", e.g.: Kyouryuu Sentai Zyurenjaa (Dinosaur Battle Squad Zyuranger), Mahou Sentai Majirenjaa (Magic Battle Squad Magi Ranger), Denji Sentai Megarenjaa (Digital Battle Squad Mega Ranger) etc. The names of these Rangers were usually just associated with the colour of the uniforms (and surprisingly their civilian clothes too), e.g.: the red Mega Ranger is called Mega-Red, the blue Mega Ranger is Mega-Blue etc.

When Transformers first came out in 1984, Takara was considering calling it "Henshin Sentai Toransufoomaa" (Transformation Battle Squad Transformers), but they quickly decided against this (thank goodness) and called it "Tatakae! Chou Robotto Seimeitai Toransufoomaa" (Fight! Super Robot Life Transformers) instead. :)

It's a joke dude. :) If you look at the costumes worn by Sentai heroes (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_okjpCJidnJ8/Sk_-cH_eWgI/AAAAAAAAAKI/c_KjQGTNMtc/s320/sentai2.jpg) assembled together they look like the colours of the rainbow anyway! ('cept for pink, black, white and clear :p)

There are probably enough colour variants of Optimus Prime out there to do it too!
e.g.:
red = regular version
white = Ultra Magnus
black = black version (JafCon 9)
blue = Diaclone Powered Convoy
yellow = Shining Magnus
