Perth is lucky enough to have its own International Mailing Centre. Anything coming to Perth via Overseas touches down here directly, not in the eastern states. Packages are inspected at the entry border. Because WA doesn't recieve its international mail via Sydney, WA customs has different alerts than Sydney customs. Unfortunately, QLD, NSW, ACT, SA, VIC all share the same entry border, therefore MP5=bad in the east. I may be wrong, but thats how I see it. :)

Although Perth has its own mailing centre, it still depends on whether the country of origin has direct flight to Perth. I've had parcels reaching Melbourne first and going through customs there and it showed in Auspost's tracking status.

Here in Syd, I can only recall MP-4's being spotted in 2 stores which were both in relatively well-off areas (Rouse Hill & Bondi - I think) so maybe you should check out Target stores in those types of areas first :).

Was TRU's MP Screamers meant to be for their SALE?
I didn't know about that at all...but with MP04 at its current price compared to ebay and other online stores, it's really a good deal...

Since its discovery, ebay has led to some amazing technological breakthroughs though. It has brought us gold rings that rust and 'I can believe it's not Louis Vuitton' designer wear. Die-cast plastic is seemingly another of these technological revolutions  :p :)

There's a lot (didn't actually stop to count just how many but I'd guess there's over ten) MP04s at Target Liverpool as of last Wednesday. I'm pretty sure they're all still there now and they cost $200 each. I'd like to buy one, especially since there's going to be a sale on in Target in a couple of weeks, but Prime's not exactly one of my favourites and if I get him then I'd feel compelled to get the other MPs (Ultra Magnus, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and how in the world do I get Megatron?). I hate this collector's obsession, it's worse than drugs. I'd prefer to just have Starscream as my only MP, since he's my favourite, I can justify having him without feeling compelled to get every one else...

i really have to agree with you there. my masterpiece collection so far is missing mp-2 and mp-5 which will cost me more than $500 to get them both. ahhh i wish i didn't started either. but i must say prime is the best masterpiece of all. very solid and heavy not like starscream which is just basically plastic. do you have the US version because i want to know what's the main difference to the takara one?

I took the plunge and won an ebay auction other day, $230 shipped.

Regret missing out on one selling for $165 because the buyer mis-spelt the item description and I stumbled upon it :(

For once you can actually trust Pulse. (check my sig)

Is that a fact? Well now I know who to blame, you and your site are partially responsible for reigniting my obsession for Transformers. It’s only after reading your reviews that I decided on some of my major purchases (i.e. Movie Leader Class Optimus Prime) which has led me to buy every character in the movie.

Nah, seriously man, it’s a pleasure to meet you and thank you for taking out the time to write such detailed and insightful reviews so that newbies such as myself can make informed purchases.

dirge
12th July 2008, 12:39 AM
Yeah that's why I keep writing them. There are so many "omfg he's so cool" reviews out there... not enough people review toys they _dislike_. And not enough are critical of the toys they do like. I'd like to think I can offer a more balanced review than most of the reviews out there. And I love knowing that others find it useful (:

Stompy
12th July 2008, 01:10 AM
Same here dirge. Your reviews helped fuel my transformers obsession the past year. Thanks!

To keep on topic... I wonder if Target will pricematch the toysale price for the MP Prime I lay-by'd? Pretty sure they would. Otherwise, I 'd just cancel and tell them to give me the thing and purchase it ont he spot at Sale time.

Actually, I suspect that they've removed them from the shelves in preparation for the sale. In the past week, there were two places I visited with 10 plus MPs and then all of a sudden they disappeared in the space of less than a week.

That's if you think about it $4000-$5000, a lot of money for even a scalper.

I wonder just how many MP-4s Target will actually sell?

$180-200 is not exactly a "light purchase" & I don't really think MP-4 is the best TF for someone who hasn't owned any TFs prior to that...

(If I was giving someone their first TF, it would probably be Classics Voyager Prime - not MP-4 :))

Plenty left at my local store this morning. About the same amount on the shelf, minus 3 or 4 from last week. I think the store reformat has confused most scalpers, or more likely, theres no serious scalpers in Perth.

Mine's loaded too. I personally think the initial scalper fears were just rabid collectors.

Hi all

Didn't know whether to put this here or in a new thread so mods can move if necessary.

Play-asia has got pre-orders open for Ultra-Magnus MP-02 reissues slated for NOV release.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-8x-49-en-15-transformers-70-2wnj-43-d.html

Just to let you know, I've used Play-asia to buy Xbox 360 games with no probs and usually with savings. I've just received from them Encore Reissue Ironhide for a very cheap price thanks to 25% off sale. Encore Reissue Ratchet is on the way.

Toys aren't their forte so prices probably not as cheap as Robot Kingdom but very professional and super fast postage. Got my Ironhide within a week.

I saw my first MP-04 at the Target near me, one of the young store attendants that I had been hassling before the sale with the MP's was on noticed me digging around the other day and pointed it out to me. I was told they had sold all of them in the sale but in truth they didn't get their stock until well after the sale had finished. It had obviously been untaped and retaped but the overall condition of the box was excellent.

Nah no way. Even the idea of any big retail store here in australia selling mp's sounds out of this world for me lol. I live like right in the middle of 4-5 big shopping centres and have never seen any mp's. I'll prob get around to buying an mp4 again when I have the money. Don't think I can be bothered battling customs with the megs again. That was 2 weeks of hell the last time.

They were available at Target for the big mid year sales but they moved very quickly. The odd one is still around but there aren't many left. If you want, let me know cos I know where one is and can put it on layby from you (though it is on the opposite side of town for you). Saw Mp-04 in Frankston Target today... Target really seems to have only animated recently... but I saw that guy on the bottom shelf and pointed him out to my girlfriend, suddenly the guy standing next to me glanced at what I was pointing at and pounced. He kinda got the toy in a bear hug and wouldn't let go... His wife/ gf said something like "we don't even know how much it is" and I replied "$200" he then said "I don't care... I have to have it" Was funny watching him walking around hugging this toy.
