We all have our ups and downs.
Why not share our joy too? :)

Listening to my old Demo CD for my band. Havent heard it for a good year or so.

Even though the quality of the recording is bad, and the drummer sucked, I still enjoy it and remember the lyrics (well some of them haha)

One day I would love to get back into the music scene, but I dont know anyone round the area needing a vocalist. Ah wells. Was still fun when I did it.

I had a similar experience tonight. On the way home on the train from work, unbeknowst to me, my mobile slipped out of my jacket pocket as I left the seat.

An hour so later after dinner, I noticed and frantically search my bag and pockets to no avail. I rush home and give my mobile a buzz and the guy on the other end is a City Rail dude at Turramurra station.

Some honest and thoughtful person handed it in and 1 hour on the train later, I pick it up much to my relief, happiness and gratitude to the honest & good samaritan and Cityrail dude :)

I knew this karma thing has its advantages. Now to pay it forward....

yo ice, apologies for replying many days late. I was going over in my head how to work meeting the Melb guys into my schedule.

I'll try to work something out. I'll be at the Australian Open tennis with a group of friends and my wife. I don't actually know how much time I will have in terms of a meet-up and chat sort of gathering between going to the open and seeing Melbourne a little (wife's never been there).

I'm meeting hanprimus to pick up some toys, but i think that it will be a meet and short chat then depart kind of thing.

Any ideas? Also, any recommended comic shops in Melb?

Minotaur on Elizabeth Street is the biggest with a lot of pop culture stuff including directly imported TF toys (they had Bludgeon and the new Ironhide recently). Comics R Us on Bourke Street has a good sized collection but high prices. Classic Comics hidden away off Bourke Street has good prices but low stocks.

One of the bands I have been into since I discovered them (year before last) is touring here in June :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Alestorm "Plunder Down Under" tour (btw they are pirate metal :D)

Avast ye scurvy dogs, those be into metal be there or I send ye landlubbers down to davey jones locker :p

Never heard of Alestorm. What would you liken their music style to e.g. similar bands?

Never heard of Alestorm. What would you liken their music style to e.g. similar bands?

According to a press release, the quartet "plays Scottish 'pirate metal,' by their own definition, and musically resembles the great battle metal bands such as KORPIKLAANI or TURISAS, albeit with a unique touch and Scottish instrumentation."

Very unique style of music, hard to actually liken them to other bands though. Best way I think would be to find them on youtube or myspace and have a listen.

Maybe it was a little better on ABC, but then at least it's back and on it's 3rd-4th season. Interestingly enough, if it goes on for 1 more season it'll of been on for 10 years (Collectively). ;)

The problem with the di-fibulated Hey Hey is that if it doesn't have Red (Major Draw) and Molly (Slightly Lesser Draw) it might end up feeling like it's missing half the show. :(

That being said, I'm not one to rain on Fan's parades so good for those who loved the original series, I just hope it is what you guys expect and aren't let down, like I was when WWE bought ECW - The first One Night Stand was good, I don't wanna talk about what followed.

Thanks for that Autocon. :)
I just did an impulse bid on the two rare items listed by this person, and I actually managed to win both, one by $14, and the other by 1cent!

Backtrack and Reverb (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280497732948) were 2 of 3 unreleased 5th wave Target exclusive Scouts from the first movie (at the end of the series, so got axed before full production - so probably only a dozen of each exist, if that).

Hope this doesn't mean I'm gonna have to track down the third (Gunbarrel (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Gunbarrel_%28Movie%29)) in this unreleased set...

I'm just amazed I won these. These are indeed very obscure, but... when they arrive, they will be the rarest things in my collection, because pre-production samples are often only a dozen or 2 at the most. And many may have been sent to Target executive buyers, or various Hasbro offices, never to end up in the hands of collectors...
No exact number would ever be known though, so I'll go with the dozen estimate.
So happy. Happier when the arrive of course...

When I did a search for these things before I chased up the first two on ebay, there was no indication that these had been produced at all, now it looks like quite a few were produced.

I don't know where these are coming from, or how many are being produced, but to think I paid out $100 each for these things, and people are bulk buying them for $25 each. :(

The thing I'm fearing is that these have only just been produced, buy toy counterfeiters. Because what else could explain these only now being released 'from a supplier' who seems to be able to produce more if there is demand, and they are in the 2007 movie packaging. If they were being officially produced right now, they would be in the 2009 movie packaging. And if they were indeed produced in 2008, why would it have taken 2 years before all of these suddenly appeared?

Not happy with myself...
Not the first time I've rushed into an ebay auction and regretted it later.

I'd go with that. I'd say that they were made, but then no stores wanted to shelve them as they wern't new toys, and those others from energon, etc did shelf warm, so the stores passed on these.

I just don't see why anyone would sit on them for 2 years, unless the moving of production out of China is prompting the Chinese factories to clear out/throw out anything they had stored away for TFs.

Still doesn't make me feel any better about paying 4 times what others are paying for these... :(

Someone actually outbid me in the last five minutes, so now I can be a bit more patient and see if more show up to bring the price down. There are 8 now on ebay, cashing in on the $100+ sale prices (the people selling them bought them for $20-25 each).

I feel like a little kid before Christmas....

Been watching my MOTU DVDs lately, and with the prolonged delay with BotCon registration, my interest drifted back to completing my He-Man collection.

The other day I sat down and had a quick look at Ebay to see what the market was like at the moment on 80s MOTU toys, and was so surprised at what I found and the prices, I went a little nuts in a matter of hours.

When I bought MOTU figures about 2 years ago, there was more interest with the cartoon and comic still being fresh, sending prices way up and I had trouble finding a number of playsets and figures. This time around, I found heaps to choose from, and at prices I was happy with.

The one I really wanted most - a complete Castle Grayskull

And a Webstor

Plus bidded on a number of auctions to see if I get any cheap.

I'm just so excited, I'm just jumping out of my skin waiting for these to arrive. I couldn't even wait until they arrived to post here.

Congrats on the MOTU acquistions griffin. Considering the condition that most of those are in, you got yourself some great bargains. Very jealous of that Castle Grayskull.

I always thought of branching out with my collecting habits, but I am so far into TF's that starting something new would always feel secondary to me.

Having said that though, I was a huge fan of MOTU back in the day. I still have several of my figures from when I was a kid. Unfortunately, He-Man lost his head some time ago (that darn rubber has a habit of breaking if twisted too often).

Well Ive had an interesting few weeks.... I got offered a full time job back at Telstra.. one that actually suits me. So no more sales or targets and all that junk. Just fixing computers, phones, lodging repairs, installing internet etc... Suits me just fine.

So after that I dicided that Id sell my dog grooming trailer.. which after putting new equipment in it and cleaning it up after buying it.. I managed to sell in less than 24 hours after listing it for $1500 more than what I spent on it.

So with my newly aquired $8,000 Ive dicided to go overseas... But yeah since the people who bought my trailer paid with paypal... i transfered it to my bank and its still floating around in cyberspace.. So when i used my visa debit card to pay for some sale fares on qantas... it was declined the next day.. oh noes T_T And if i didnt pay for the tix in 24 hours i was going to loose them... and pay 3 times as much to rebook and not get the flights i wanted.

.. I was stressing about it.. now Heres the highlight of the week - a guy at works aid "oh Ill pay for em.. you just pay me back" ... Like... O_O seriously?? who just offers someone $2800 loan?? He rang up and paid for my tickets so they are 100% solid confirmed.

So yes... im happy... i have joy... for once! :D

Actual episode or the "movies"? What was it about?

Actual new episodes, continues on from Into the Wild Green Yonder. In the US, the movies were separated into 4 parts each and called season 5, so I am watching season 6 :D

First Ep is called Rebirth and is aboutAfter the events of Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder, the Planet Express Crew go through the wormhole and are brought back to Earth (the wormhole being Earth's channel for shipping). However, due to being chased by Zapp Brannigan, the ship crashes by the Planet Express building, leaving the Professor the only one to survive the crash, and he must bring the others back to life. The episode will focus on the relationship between Fry and Leela. Also during the third act, there will be a robot version of Leela.

Was actually pretty funny. Glad it is back, should never have been removed from tv.

Also the primary school kids who come to uni to do maths enrichment are having a break~ Also a break for me too. :D

Can finally get back into finishing the writing of my PhD thesis. Not much time left now but at least I can get back into full gear.

And the university is giving me a new unit to teach next semester! So I won't have to worry about money for the short term, until I go look for a new job after the whole PhD thing.

And of course, I met Summer Glau in the weekend. Best weekend ever!!!

I love it when you find something that you thought you lost a long while ago.

I recently (yesterday) found a CD that contained all the photos, music, lyrics and a few other things from my band. Been a long time since I listened to most of it, and it has spurned me on again to get the demos re-recorded and possibly get the band back together. Looking back on it, I had a lot of fun recording those songs, and have some fond memories of my short music career. I do miss those times.

I had PC problems which I finally got around to fixing (busyness + procrastination = no pc :() so that is happiness and I can visit this site again.

I also had an eBay seller commit some fruad, he took my money but never shipped my items.
But myself and several others that he cheated complained to eBay and it seems like they might actually do something about it (got notified that he was aparently "no longer a registered user").
Removing fraudsters from eBay = Satisfaction.
And PayPal got me my money back so that's great as well, but I didn't really doubt that happening.

So while not immensly joyful, it's still sorta satisfying all up :)

Excuse the french, but I almost pissed my pants when I read this news -

Mortal Kombat HD Kollection Confirmed In Development

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection game for pre-order with a release date of November 2010 for the PlayStation 3

One store even noted that the mystery game will come with a demo for Mortal Kombat (2011)

TRMK has independently confirmed with multiple industry sources that a high definition Mortal Kombat arcade update is indeed currently in development. Mortal Kombat HD Kollection will be a 2D Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection (MK1, MK2 and UMK3) featuring all-new high resolution in game graphics - not simply upscaled graphics, but sharp, crisp, awesome-looking High Definition graphics.
