Why does my G1 Motormaster have a stamp covered over it?

Why does my G1 Motormaster have a stamp covered over it? I was looking at it the other day and just below the hasbro stamp is something that has been covered over. Its definaltey now a KO because mum bought it for me at Kmart. So if anyone knows why let me know thanks :)
