Eh, it's ok. I really prefer the drawn one to cgi, but I'll probably still watch it anyway.

But what continuity is it? Where does it fit?

I hope they get a better voice actor for the Clones... the one in the previous Clone Wars cartoon series didn't sound anything like Temuera Morrison -- forget the voice, it didn't even have a New Zealand accent!

Before Episode III came out, some of my friends pointed out that by Episode IV they had used other templates for clones other than Jango Fett, but in the Episode III DVD commentary George Lucas specifically states that all the clones in the Army of the Republic and early Empire were of the Jango Fett template. Episode III shows this too - Commander Cody, Oddball and every other clone looked and sounded like Jango Fett.

I'm gonna be spewing if the Clones aren't running around saying things like "Gineral Kenobi," "Jidi" and "Suth"! And would it hurt to have a platoon of clone troopers doing a haka before battle? :p

The Necrobot isn't really the same as a Necromancer, a Necrotitan would be more appropriate, rising from the dead and all.

But we were meant to be talking about Star Wars or something...... :D

One of the racing teams (car 1) for the Bathurst 1000 is sponsored by Star Wars, and their pit-crew are dressed up to look like Stormtroopers (helmets and safety gear are all white & black with detailing to look like Stormtrooper armour).

It looks pretty neat, but realistically, Star Wars doesn't need to spend any more money on marketing (their box office takings won't be any bigger because everyone already knows it exists, and the trailers so far have shown what to expect, so too much advertising just eats into their profits)... and if they needed to promote a scifi movie, judging by the people so far seen when they show us the crowds at this race, unless there are some bikini-clad ladies running around the movie with Stormtrooper helmets on, I doubt most would pay money to see it no matter how much advertising you throw at them. (I was going to link to a google search for "bikini stormtrooper", but figured that it wouldn't be a good idea for our younger viewers.)

It would be like setting up a bible stall at a sexpo convention... you might hook in a few, but ultimately its just there for show. :p

I've always wondered why Coke, who is known for their advertising (we had to study some of their campaigns at uni) still spends millions when by now, it's basically known the world over. Just boils down to if they don't, it can only fall out of the limelight. Still, the amount they must spend just to maintain relevance (arguably not getting any new customers from it) is extraordinary!

If you don't advertise, your rivals will. Sometimes companies will buy advertising space and use it purely so rival companies can't. They don't need to, but they'd rather spend the money than let their rivals advertise in a good spot.

I've heard that too, about advertising to make sure a rival doesn't fill up that space instead.

It's also necessary for publicly listed mega-multi-national corporations that answer to share-holders, to not just make profit, but make more profit than last year.
With small businesses, it's great to make more money each year, but as long as you make money, that's still great. But with big business that has shareholders, it's not enough to actually make a profit anymore, because most corporations on the sharemarket will end up with a drop in their share price if they don't earn more than they did last year/quarter, or meet their projected target of increased profit... regardless of how much they actually still made as a profit.

It's often why the workers get screwed when cost-cutting is the last resort to meeting profit targets (after expenses), just to please the share-holders who don't even invest into the business to make it grow (or just for the personal benefit of the the CEO making the cuts, who often has a healthy amount of shares and/or profit bonuses).
Imagine if one of our big four banks or Telstra reported $2 Billion profit for the year. You might think that's a great result, and think that the shareholders will get a healthy dividend... but with each of them racking up $8-10 Billion annually in profit in recent years, a drop to just a quarter of that would send the sharemarket into a nosedive, because of the kneejerk reaction of share traders pulling their money out of the market assuming the worst, when in fact, the business is still very healthy (too healthy with all the fees the banks charge and still want more each year), and that sort of shock to the market would result in a devaluing of the business (and other businesses on the stock exchange), despite it still making a lot of money.
Our society is too addicted to the share market, which is such a fragile element of the financial world... and with most of our super funds heavily invested in share markets, governments will do anything to keep them afloat (which benefits the rich, while the working classes have to pay more in taxes and bank fees to cover bailouts or new financial regulations/requirements - eg. Westpac raising interest rates).
(end of rant)

This is why ROTJ was more popular to the teenage crowd of raging hormones (http://www.boredpanda.com/princess-leia-bikini-return-jedi-beach-shoot-1983-carrie-fisher/)... :p

Although, the sexy photo of her being held by Darth Vader is kinda wrong when you find out later from the actual movie that it's her dad.
(I guess no more wrong than the full on tongue-down-the-throat kiss she gave her brother in Ep4.... hmmm, that family sure does have issues... :p )

I didn't see it that way at all. I saw it just a loving hug between father and daughter.

There was a recent Target Exclusive Vintage Collection DROIDS Series Artoo (https://www.target.com/p/star-wars-the-vintage-collection-artoo-detoo-r2-d2/-/A-83690286#lnk=sametab) that's now sold out.

My question is, do Target Exclusives eventually become available more widely (e.g. at online retailers), or is something like this destined only to be re-sold at scalper pricing on eBay? Thanks.

RK & other Asia based retailers often get US exclusives, which is why we shouldn't be bothered with any items marketed as such -youre bound to find them somewhere else

Thanks so much for this! I only checked US and JP online shops, and found nothing.

I didn't think too much of it tbh. It just seemed like it was 2 minutes of him saying chill, let's talk this out instead of me shoving this thermal detonator where the sun don't shine.
But I'll still give it a watch.

you are right. i suppose they are trying too hard to make him "cool". will see if they bother developing his character.

Autocon, i am hoping Disney won't overdo like they did with Marvel:eek:

To be fair to Disney and Star Wars in general; considering the amount of pure drivel that is out there on every streaming service (let alone free to air TV), having more Star Wars shows is more a positive than otherwise. The amount of interesting/ beloved characters is vast, so why not explore them beyond?

Late to the party, but just binged Clone Wars over last week or so. And, damn. I always thought Anikan was a whingy baby, but Clone Wars added way more depth as to why he started to hate the council before he turned. And Ahsoka, probably one of the best character arcs in Star Wars. A number of teary moments, season 5 ended on a great downer moment but it was brilliant. Had I been watching it from when it aired I'd probably woulda been bummed it ended there. But last 2 seasons as well, just awesome.

You should try Rebels as well.

It's on the whole perhaps a shade more kiddified, but then I think people tend to overrate how gritty Clone Wars actually is because of the subject matter.

It's a decent kind of Firefly but if it was Star Wars and marketed at a younger audience.

Ahsoka Tano's character arc is really amazing. She started off as a widely disliked character by fans, but that was the whole point of it (and a massive risk on the part of the writers). In order for Ahsoka to grow, she had to start from a basic point; as a naive and arrogant character who often makes disastrous mistakes (at least one of which got her squad killed). This was deliberate because she had to learn and grow from her flaws, into becoming the really interesting character that we see by the end of the Clone Wars (and in Rebels and the Mandalorian).

It's the complete opposite of making flawless and all-powerful Mary Sue characters like Rey, whose moments are often unearned. Ahsoka goes through a long and rough ride, with her early appearances really getting on audience's nerves... but that was deliberate. She had to be a stupid twerp in the beginning so that she could grow and earn her later qualities. The Ahsoka that we see later didn't just come out of nowhere. And yes, she is jaded and disillusioned; especially as she is unfairly banished from the Jedi Order and in Rebels discovering that Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker . I also really liked her line in the Mandalorian where she tells Luke that he's so much like his father. It was a sweet moment where Ahsoka is fondly reminded of who Anakin was; before he became Darth Vader, and sharing that feeling with Luke who never knew the real Anakin (but also never lost faith in him).

Ahsoka Tano is the opposite of what Rey Palpatine-Skywalker is. Both are powerful Jedi, but Ahsoka earned her qualities. It makes her a fleshed out and believable character. She's awesome because of who she is - what she has seen and knows. Not because she can do an acrobatic backflip while slicing an incoming TIE Fighter.
