Hasbro are gonna have kittens when they see this. This may be the card that forces the Hasbro Legal arm.

But it does look awesome! :D

STL's latest soapbox may have more discussions occuring now.....

It's a total KO. This belongs in Non-TF section. Trailers and Autoscouts are one thing, but recreating a whole toy? You gotta be kidding.

Since this thread is scheduled to be moved, I will comment. Yeah this is pretty much a KO - A cool KO but still one since it is replicating a Hasbro product bit by bit even if its the wrong scale (as many KOs do).

I don't see what's so cool about it? The fingers? A new head? That's it's a bit smaller? I can understand the appeal of WST Dinorobots, but this? I just don't see why anyone would want this when the real thing is so easily accessible.

The smaller scale adds some play and display value with other figures such as with MP Grimlock as shown.

I personally think this fan product steps too far beyond the line and will not support it. It isn't just creating a brand new mold, it is replicating an existing one which is literally making it a counterfeit.

if its small enough it'll probally fit in well with the universe stuff, which i could see alot of people wanting it for that reason

Aparently the idea for this thing is born out of general fan dissapointment about having MP Grimlock so small next to MP Prime.

iGear's doing a scaled-down MP Prime (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/generation-1-1/igear-ig-pp01-mini-masterpiece-optimus-prime-168342/)...on the one hand I really want one of these (though I'd rather Hasbro did it themselves), it's just the right size for Classics/Universe. On the other hand I can't see Hasbro letting this one go and it could easily be the catalyst for a crackdown on 3rd-party creators, which would suck big time.

We know. Since this is more of a blatant KO than a fan kit, the original thread has been moved here:

Want it for scale with Classics, probably won't get it due to both cost and not wanting to endorse something that's so likely to bring down the wrath of Hasbro on 3rd party creators (and thus stop us getting more cool stuff in the future).
If/when Hasbro comes down on iGear they decide to sieze the molds and make a scaled-down MP Prime of their own, though...sold.

This thing is being sold and distributed from within mainland China. It will be very hard for Hasbro to do much about that.

I agree.

I love MP Prime, but as I don't own MP Megatron, so I find he is bit too big, not just with Grimlock but even with the Binaltechs and MP seekers. I know Prime was always a big bot, but the Binaltechs barely come up to his groin.

huh? thats a weird way to think about things... i thought that the solution would have been to make a grimlock that is bigger, not make a Prime that is smaller....

heh, it's good to look at now, wait til it gets colored in those ridiulous color mix just like them fake BTs. Mixmatched colors, too bright, too dull would make or break this figure....

These iGear people make me . They're also releasing (or have released, I don't keep track of this stuff) a Masterpiece Prime-sized Optimus Prime trailer and a crown for Masterpiece Grimlock: hmm... items that sound vaguely familiar for some reason. They're bootleggers and yet for some reason they regularly get in the newsfeed at TFW2005 and praised on the boards as if they're not the knockoff merchants they are.

They're just asking for trouble, and will get Hasbro to bring the hammer down on the actual fan kit makers. :(

Their products have no real creativity. And there have been rumours they were the ones who've been KO-ing the works of other fan kit makers.

It is way way way too far...

This explosion of 'fan' crap is crazy even if it is an original concept it is getting less and less cool with me...

Look at the front page of robot kingdom, it is almost all that type of stuff.

I did get some addons for my MP's but it basically went right back in the box...

I think I'd rather keep my money to buy real transformers.

I don't consider the crown as a KO. It is an accessory set for people who bought the original release - The business they would take from the comic version is negligible as nobody in their right mind would buy the whole expensive toy again only for the crown.

Come on - You must be buying it for more ;)

I want it for the whole awesome comic tribute - If it was just the crown I would only get the fan kit since I already have the original release.

Are you actually getting King Grimlock? Because if you are getting it just for the crown while aware of the fan kit then the existence of the kit doesn't affect your purchase to TakTom at all.

Does this mean that you would find it acceptable to buy a KO of G1 Prowl if you already had G1 Bluestreak? I mean, who in their right mind would buy the whole expensive toy again just for a paint job, right?

What? We are talking about buying custom accessories in regards to the Grimlock crown not full complete figures as well as an expensive release that came out without said accessory despite prototype pics.

Your G1 Prowl comparison is apple and oranges unless you mean it to be a parallel with this Mini MP Prime rather than MP Grimlock. Also Prowl and Bluestreak are two separate characters.

I agree with kup that I would not buy the whole expensive toy again only for the crown.

Maybe "nobody in their right mind" is too strong... but then again I don't consider myself sane. :p

For this particular toy, I would not buy it for the new paint job or new packaging either... I AM going to buy it just because I am a MP series completist... :o

I would buy this. And laugh at the people who take such personal offense to something so silly. My buying this doesn't mean that Hasbro gets any less of my money and I couldn't care less about the moral issues. It just means I'll have something cool while other people will be on their high horses.

I guess I'm missing the point of this, but in my view, it's not scaled down enough from the actual MP Prime to make it a novelty item like the WST range.

Why would anyone buy this that already has a MP Prime

I totally agree as for one i dont have a MP Prime so having this is is big score for me, may not be as detailed and may not have the diecast parts as MP Prime but all im after is its size cos its does look good with MP grimlock

The idea to make a scaled down copy of MP Prime came as a result of fan dissatisfaction with MP Grimlock being so short and out of scale with MP Prime. There were a lot of complaints and that triggered I-Gear to produce this toy so that it can adequately display with MP Grimlock within generally acceptable scale.

I think it was a sweet idea but I have issues with this from an ethical viewpoint which I have already expressed in other posts (referring to manufacturers not the buyers).

I agree he is tempting due to being a better fit size wise. He'd probably look better standing next to Starscream the Seekers and Binaltech too.
