Why?

Because there are villans. And well defined ones too. Actually a need for the space police.

Sure the space police need a "base set", and the bad guys need some sort of pirate cove, as the pit stop isn't quite enough for a base for them. Actually, a 3rd party venue such as a "space bank" set would be cool too.


But overall they're much better now.

I'd go for the originals. space police 1, because of the black blue and trans red colour scheme. and their prisons were the most awesome design.

the original Blacktron was a great 'villian' cos they looked mean ass, the new SP has rather comical alien looking villains which does'nt appeal to me that much.

I'm no lego collector, but when I was into Lego as a kid, The original Space Police were my second favourte Lego Space range, After the original Blacktrons of course. Although I suppose the green ones were pretty nifty to, at least compared to the ugly Blacktron remakes.

The new ones are more true to classic space with white/blue. :)

And the bad guys have awesome "raider" style vehicles.

I like the original space police lines, they look like true galactic enforcers and have real helmets so they look like they're actually operating in space.

SPIII reminds me too much of pig cops who cruise around looking to lynch unfortunate people (aliens) or hide around corners with their radar guns looking to book you tickets :p

Also SPIII uniforms are very very bland. I also tend to hate on sticker-heavy sets.

One thing i'm sure of, the original Space Police had the best prison pods IMO.
