I would like to believe the seller who says it isn't a knock off, but it is too cheap for an original MISB Wheeljack:

From the item description:
ORIGINAL 1984 WHEELJACK MINT SEALED BOX, NOT A CHEAP KNOCK OFF, METAL COMPONENT'S STAMPED 80-82 JAPAN

If the item is MISB, how does he know what date is on the metal parts?

Oh dear. While the bootlegs are becoming sharper, the scammers are getting even dumber. Maybe when he says 'NOT A CHEAP KNOCK OFF' he means it's an EXPENSIVE knock off. :p

Someone should msg him via eBay messaging and see how he reacts when confronted with that! :D

Funny s**t! :p

And just for a bit of amusement, I just messaged them about the same thing:

Hi,

If this item is mint and in a sealed box, how do you know that it is stamped on the metal components?

Cheers

I'll see what response I get.

You just need to look at the grid print on the box; there should be exactly 3 boxes above and 3 boxes below the window. If there are 2.66 above and 3.34 below it's fake without question.

I know it's pretty well established that seller's a joke, but it's a handy guide to remember when looking at Wheeljacks.

This is definatly a KO.. Above the word FORMERS on the flap it should have a (TM) not an (R) and TheHandsomeCrab is also right about the grids on the box .. Ive compared the pic to my Original and they are clearly different.

Note the 3 box theory

We really need a thread to help fellow board members spot out the obvious and the not so obvious differences b/w these high quality KO's and originals. Not just the boxes themselves, but figures as well.

Anyone know how to tell the difference between an original and a KO loose complete gnaw?

There was a topic somewhere that had a few links to existing websites identifying KOs. I'll have to find it (and any other applicable links) and re-post in this section (when I get a chance to catch up on things now that I'm back).

Is this the same seller under a different name? Note how they've even misspelled Components as 'Compenants'.

lol, the rear wheel is completely different to the front (unless it is due to the flash).

The all-caps description is a give away that it is fake, and the fact he/she says it is stamped 1982 Takara without opening the box...

Interesting theory, but most people bid in the last 5 minutes.. I know I do, bidding early only starts a game of hot potato

I prefer holding out till 2 secs to go - love the adrenaline rush of watching the time tick down & then sniping it at the last second! :D

Last Two Second Sniper? :D

Yes I like to leave it as close as possible also but I've also been stumped by an unresponsive Ebay or Internet connection with no time to do anything about it, especially if a lot of people are trying to get through last second bids. If I really want it I'll play it a bit safer

SOUNDBLASTER

I personally think that sniping is horrible...
It should be fair like here on trademe and the auctions should be auto-extended everytime someone bids giving everyone a chance to spend their top dollar on the item and also giving the buyer the highest possible dollar amount after the war has finished...
Sniping is like walking up to somebody and shooting them in the back as opposed to having a showdown and a face to face shootout :cool:

Congrats mate, you've just made a new enemy! j/k :D

I actually dislike that eBay has now made the winning bidder anonymous.. I used to get great pleasure in people knowing that I outbid them at the last second... lol :p

One shot, one kill, win or lose... why waste multiple bullets when only one will suffice? :)

Not my fault that the person I outbid wasn't prepared to pay as much as I was, irrespective of when the bid is (was) placed!

I only say this as with my crap currency its cheaper for US bidders to place higher bids as their postage is much cheaper than us in nz having to pay for the item as well as postage on top.. I guess i just get stung too often on ebay ... Not trying to make enemy's at all

Exactly you pre-determine how much you want to pay. If you get outbid at any time, then obviously the new bidder was willing to pay more than you.

Here is an example, I won this last night in the last 10 seconds, before I bid it was at 46 so the bidder must have set his maximum to probably 66.99

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120475687996&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_664wt_1091

So I dropped 101.11 in the last 10 seconds. Ofcourse that was a risk, if the bidder was willing to pay $100 then ouch. But he wasn't and I was confident enough that would raise their maximum bid..

I had planned to win this because a day earlier I bought this to put in it :D

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390100276673&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1703wt_1091

Hopefully no one on here was the previous bidder :p
