Time to buy your Transformers from the US!?

The Australian dollar rose as high as 94.34 US cents at 7.50am in Sydney, the most since March 1984. It recently traded at 94.27 US cents.

You bet. Those books we bought yesterday, woot!

It's amazing how things have turned. I don't think an economist would've backed this mid last year. And now there's turmoil everywhere but the advantage for us is the AUD's appreciation.

For the rest of the companies businesses, well it's not so good for them.

The rate against the GBP is also going silly - 47p per dollar yesterday!

I've been buying up from the USA & UK. I've been buying some pricey BotCon exclusives, and the other day I ordered the RiD series from Amazon.co.uk - $50 shipped thanks to a special at the moment and the awesome exchange rate.

I wish we had this surge 8 years ago when Car Robot and the first wave of Takara G1 reissues came out!! 2000 was a frustratingly annoying year for buying TFs from overseas as our dollar hit an all-time low. :/

I lost out on quite a lot of money after buying a spare God Fire Convoy to trade with some guy in Canada who didn't uphold his part of the trade. Gggrrrr.

Lets just hope that other things that occurred in the mid to late 80's in the stock market do not repeat themselves... :p

2000 was terrible for ordering stuff from overseas, yet the DBZ stuff I bought was still cheaper getting it at US$0.48 than buying it outright here...

I'm running out of expensive "pie in the sky" stuff. I've grabbed stuff like Apelinq - who I always wanted but his price in AUD was never lower enough for me to splash out for him. I'd still like a Fire Guts God Ginrai but that's about it, now. Unless I can find more undervalued Masterforce stuff to go with my cheap Browning.

I'm not complaining, mind you. I've been stashing all this stuff and will let myself play with it bit by bit while all the movie repaints and Animated passes me by.

Yeah the GBP is a bit high, I'm only buying from the UK if there's no other source.

Yes, as in you owe me a predaking. :)

Make it quick too before that money burning holes in your many pockets ends up burning down your mansion. :D

Okay there's a debt that I'm not likely to repay anytime soon!

Oh, and as great as the exchange rates are, my mansion burnt down a while ago. As good as the prices are ATM, the stuff I've been buying is still relatively expensive, if cheaper than it was previously.

Our dollar in pwning all. I just ordered a whole bunch of TF Classics and GI Joes from BBTS. Even with postage, it's cheaper than the prices they charge here. :D

Actually the dollar hasn't moved that much against the Euro, foor, and has gone backwards over the last few years against the Canadian Dollar. Like our currency, these two have been going well - especially CAD.

It's doing okay against the Pound though. Appreciated a 4-5 cents now. Still buying out of England is darn expensive.

But still, at least it's only a rough 2x conversion rate instead of the 3.5x it used to be not long ago.
