Cool figure. Its amazing that a garage company can do this stuff but the licence holder can't. Bought. :)

Looks very nice, but perhaps a tad too close to Spinger not to cause trouble.

I've always wanted a decent triple changer. My favourites are Blitzwing and Springer but the G1 versions left a lot to be desired.
There is no way in hell im missing this one ^_^

Will this be a complete figure on its own? Or another appendage/armour kit?

What would it attach to? ;)
Anyway, looks hot, but I'd like to know a price first.

Interesting, it has a nice Cybertronian kinda style to it, rather than just being a space car.
Anyway, looks hot, but I'd like to know a price first.
Ditto.

It'll attach to universe springer :p
Yeh I looked at the pics more carefully...sorta answered my own question.

Looks good, I'm about 80% to the "I'll pay whatever price for it" stage. Might have to do with the fact that the movie line does nothing for me.

Pretty awesome homage to it's G1 counterpart

Well, Hasbro probably could, if they wanted to sell low numbers of something at the $80 price point which might not meet safety standards, after spending decades marketing themselves as makers of kidsafe products.

Jebus I wrote an essay in regards to your comment and lost it.
Summary - Hasbro can.
$80 is cheap.
Parents pay for Leader Class, Ultra Class Supreme class.
Low numbers - response - look at the Masterpiece Line.
Kiddy issue's - see below
I do agree with you that Hasbro's focus is kiddys, but across the ocean there's a company called TakaraTomy that can fill the collectors market if they got permission from the daddy. :)

Really, I always thought it was a stand-alone figure for 'Defender', and those resin prototype shots don't show any universe figure underneath that I can see.
Is there something I'm missing? (I don't own Universe Springer so I may be missing the obvious)

No I was just kidding, it looks to be a stand alone figure. First of its kind I believe by FP? I'm not really a follower so not 100% sure. If it is, then yeh we can expect a fat price on this - considering the recent addon kits sell for heaps.

Duh. I misinterpreted the ':p'.
Yeah, Fans Project's stuff is really good quality though, and I don't have a Springer in my collection at all, so I'll definitely be preordering this one.
Now, if they'd only make a new head for Darkwing that would be sweet :)

Defender looks sweet (and coincidentally totally legally distinct from any TF I've ever seen before), luvvin' the armored car mode.

Yup. I carefully avoided mentioning TakTomy, as it's possible they might be able to do something of the nature. Not having a direct "in" to the Japanese toy market and relevant legalities and economies, though, I thought I'd be better off simply leaving it out of the discussion until someone with more info could step up.
Still, it's an interesting idea: reworkings of old characters in a cross between Classics and Masterpiece style. Would the resulting profits be worth a major toy company's time and resources, though?
