Surely DotM will be part of their SF Movie line. They based the G1 characters on Pat Lee's "art". That guy holding the Revy is the guy responsible for the Kiss Players fiction

Jehuty looks awesome. :D Haven't opened mine yet.

I got interrupted while taking photos of him yesterday, so i didn't get a chance to take funnier photos like jehuty making a loveheart with his hands or most amusingly - sucking himself off

:+:mini review:+:

the figure has an awesome sculpt with a very nice paint app. has the typical great articulation for posing but has a problem standing on its own as he has no real feet and so needs to rely on the revoltech stand - but it looks best posed in mid air/flight anyway

accessories are very nice too.

my only complaint would be the actual revoltech stand. its showing its age and isnt suitable for newer releases as they've gotten bigger and better and heavier as the line has progressed. It really struggles to support the weight of jehuty for flight poses.

overall a great release and i recommend it to -Zone of the Enders- & Mecha fans

Yeah, I wonder if they are going to have chrome parts, they did with the Sengoku Basasra first release which means it's not impossible.

Tetsuwan Convoy

I hope so. Chromey is goody.

The shoulders look like the hole the joints are connected to are on too steep an incline, making the joints up too high. I would prefer to see them with an extra joint for the shoulders so their shoulders can swing forward a bit more.

I went Getter Crazy, along with Gurren & Lagann, the Red Valkyrie Fighter VH-1J? (the one that has the more Jetfire-esque head) and A dark purple bloke with a half moon on his forehead. :p
(I've gone Japanese Robo nuts )

Purple guy? Sounds like one of the Sengoku Basara figures, they have all been pretty good so far, except the guy with the anchor, his arms have a tendency to fall off.

I've been picking up Revoltechs as they've gone on sale at HLJ too.

Not a fan of the Liger, I think it HLJ's price it is palatable, but it doesn't work so well and is hard to stand and pose without its stand. overall it's not a great Revoltech.

On the other hand, I picked up the new EVA 01 Revoltech 100 when it was on sale, and I can report that despite being another EVA they have definitely improved on previous EVA Revoltechs. This one has double jointed thighs, as well as improved toe joints, leg joints and wrist joints. As well mas having soft plastic sheaths that cover up some of the joint rotations. It does feature somewhat distorted tiny shoulder wings though, however this is made up for by the glow in the dark green paint they used, I was suprised to find it actually worked and the green bits do glow in the dark like the first fight scene from reboot movie one.

I've got to say that I love the detail and poseability of these figures, bar the Valkyrie :(, You really do have to familiarise yourself with the Revoltech joints though and at times they can be a little tedious. ;):)
I almost put my fist through a wall when I broke one of the little prongs off of Getter Go's 'Closed Mouth' head, I put basically very little pressure on it and hell it wasn't even direct pressure and it snapped so friggin' easily... A lesson learnt though I guess. :(

You confused me, I see him as more black then purple, but anyway that's Giant Robo 2, brother gaint robot to Giant Robo the main mecha from the OVA anime of the same name. GR 2 appears in flash back when GR1 and his controller Disakue Kusama escapes from the evil organization Big Fire. Cervantes and GR 2 try to stop GR 1 defecting but fail. Subless link below

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NxcHb-6qJM&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAwUfqSFGJE&feature=related

The 1990's Gaint Robo Day the Earth Stood Still is my favourite Anime OVA series of all time (not to be confused with the old live action series, and the 2000 boring anime series). Despite retro designs its way more clever, focused and features far better storytelling at work than most more modern looking anime. I would recommended it to anyone as a true classic of anime.

I like Getter and Mazinga too, but Gaint Robo is better. Gurren lagan just lives in all those classic series shadow in my mind.

Anyway back to Revoltech

I have the GR 2 Revoltech too, he is pretty cool for the time he was made (some years back now) i used him as a prop when I cosplayed as Cervantes.

Most of the Super robots are pretty good, the Revoltech glossy paint and exaggerated aesthetics suit them, you probably want to get UFO Grendaizer. The other super robots. The older robots are good too, not as fancy as the new ones they don't have some of the features like double jointed necks and armour parts that fold in when the toy bends the knee. i have Shin Getter and mazin Kaiser, both are good.

As mentioned above I also found the new Eva quite Nice, the old Patlabor mechs are decent to, they lack many exciting option parts but they are good for minor Labor fans like me who don't want to shell out the big bucks.

I would avoid the Blade Liger and Eva Provisonal unit 05 though.

@Lord_Zed: Sorry about confusing you dude. :o
Ah! so that's what the 'GR' is?, Giant Robo 2 eh, well I absolutely dig him as I like how he has that old-school Japanese Steam-punkiness to him and is why I very much intend on getting Giant Robo himself! :D

I'm really liking the New Getter Robo ('04) Anime at the moment and I'm looking into 'True'? Mazinger Z (the most recent anime) and whilst I want to get all the various versions of the Revoltech Getters, sans black repaints, I want to try and get my hands on the Soul of Chogokin GX-49 Mazinger Z figure.
I just love the idea of a giant robot who's special attack of firing off a rocket punch is taken to the next extreme of completely transforming into a Giant fist!:D:cool:
(I like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann purely for it's sheer mind boggling scale :p)

So you'd recommend most of the Bots do you? :) - Admittedly I'll probably steer clear of the other Valkyries, the Zoids and Eva Units purely because they just don't grab me the way an old-school mecha type Bot does. :o
I'll have to compile a list of the bots that have been released, is there a site with a list or database that I'd be able to have a look through to see what is available Revoltech Robo-wise?

Lord_Zed

I haven't seen that Mazinga series yet, though I understand the director is Imigawa who directed the aforementioned Gaint Robo.

Have you watched the mini intro movie for Mazinkaiser? (a bit old now) It's like a who's who of Go Nagai super robots, if you are a fan of Go Nagai Super robots then you MUST watch this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIc3kyPi_K4).

As for the Revoltech bots, basicly the more organic the shape the better they work, and the more mechanical and rectangular the worse of they are. I also have the same super robots as you, plus Mazinkasier, Shin Getter, and UFO Grendaizer and they are all pretty good, can be a little fragile as you found out, I had to repair Grendaizers weapon after the tab snapped. Shin Getter's arm blades are scary sharp. The other super robots I missed out on. I even have the Ultimate ols school bot, Tetsujin 28 and Black Ox.

I have some of the non transforming Valkyries too, they are ok, they are good if you just want to recreate the exggaerated cartoon poses no transforming toy could replicate. Can't comment on the transforming one because I avoided it, despite seeing it in bargain bins while in japan, same with the TF Revoltechs.

Revoltechs are figures for people who like to pose their toys rather than play with them, so flamboyant and or exaggerated characters work best, and the Go Nagai robots certainly fit the bill.

I'm not sure where you can find the full catalouge online, the official site only seems to list from the begging of the bigger boxed New Revoltech.

Yeah, I got the distinct impression that these guys aren't really play things as they can be quite fragile at times, as well as painful :p - Definitely a photo friendly line that's for sure. ;):)

They are about as playable as most other collectors toys, you just have to be mindfull of the pointy, or fragile bits, however unlike most toys many can't hold a neutral pose because they are sculpted already partly posed, the super robots are and example of this, depending on your point of view this can be a good thing or bad thing. For me definitely the former.

As revoltechs are named for their ball joints, those self same ball joints don't work so well with rectangular shapes by and large. Stability varies from product to product. I have one non transforming Valkyrie that is very loose, while another is extremely tight.

I notice they have managed to have him stick his groin as far forwards as possible. Keeping in line with the other Revoltechs:p

Hopefully I can get some glue and fix it without too many hassles. I don't want to have to buy another one because they sell for about $100.

Ironman is indeed awesome! That pose in particular though requires a lot of contorting! It took me ages to get mine posed just like the box art.

Meangreen
27th September 2011, 05:30 PM
Most Iron Man action figures can only kinda get the pose right though. I can put up with any contorting just to be able to get it spot on. Actually, one of the hardest things for me to do with the IM Revoltech is just getting him to stand in a neutral position. The ratchets in his ankles really don't line up well with his centre of balance.

I got my War Machine out of the box a couple of days ago. One thing that annoys me about the Revoltechs lies primarily with the Revo joints themselves. WM stood with one leg slightly shorter than the other, no amount of fiddling and messing about with the position of the joints could rectify this issue to my satifaction... Plus he seemed 'wobbly' as he consisted od the armour pieces being joined together like tta. Prime suffers this as well I noticed.

Good thing the sculpting is generally pretty good! :D I like to challenge myself and make my Revoltechs look like they are just hanging out being cool, instead of striking incredibly dynamic poses!

One of the guardians of Buddhism, Tamonten. Seems pretty cool at first, but I am not sure if I am juts getting tired of revolver joints, as trying to pose him is annoying fiddly with having to lift up his kilt and wiggle the joints around a bit.

I think these guys are just designed to pose as on the box :/ Still, gonna try and make some action shots tomorrow methinks. There is potential here. Good paint and style. More play time required is my current verdict.

yeah i just opened up Anubis and he looks very nice with the outstretched wings. the sculpt and the paint job is really good too. the only thing negative i can say about him is the leg joints, they're a little weird to pose right.

mostly i collect them because the parts are all interchangeable which goes well with the assembleborg line that i collect.

1p and 2p colours. The 2p colours are Shiggy the Inquistorial Librarian! Bit disappointed about the boxes though. both colours use the same box, just a 1p and 2p sticker for each one. A bit like the Takeya kami series, they use a generic box as well, with a sticker for each figure. Maybe revos aren't doing so well anymore.

too much Evangelion overkill!

I haven't got around to taking any photos yet, but I just had to post how stoked I am with my latest revoltech purchases.... Iron Man Mark II and Mark III. They have CRAZY amounts of articulation - even more than other Revoltech figures I've had. Like not only does the ankle have a revoltech joint but the flap over the top of the boot has one too.

Anyway, the articulation is my third favourite thing about them. The second is the light up chest. I spent days putting a light in the chest of a 6inch movie iron man while keeping all his articulation, but now these crap all over mine.

Which brings me to my favourite thing about them.... they fit in scale nicely with my Marvel Legends collection. I think they're slightly bigger than the other Revoltech Iron Man figures and as it turns out they look awesome amounst my other 6 inch figures. I picked them up from ebay for $75 for the pair shipped and I highly recommend them to anyone considering a new Iron Man figure.

stencilator
19th June 2012, 08:51 AM
Thanks for the offer kurdt... but from what I can tell after much trawling through google images, the Mark IV - VI are a little bit smaller than the Mark II-III, making them a little bit too small to fit in with my collection. The difference is only marginal, but still makes a difference. I prefer the Hasbro (walmart exclusive) Mark VI and War Machine to their Revoltech counterparts... better proportions.

Reviving a thread from the dead!

Just got Legacy of Revoltech LR-22 (Tyrannosaurus). I've been wanting the Revoltech Lost World T-Rex for AGES but couldn't pass up the cheaper reissue. While I pegged that the deco was different on the reissue, I only realised when I got it that it's no longer licensed under The Lost World. It's simply "Tyrannosaurus" with the nameplate being in terrible cursive.

Random, eh?
