For those interested, here's a complete album of all the deleted scenes (with script captions) from the original 86 animated movie. It gets pretty interesting after "hot rod on lookout mountain". Heaps of additional inclusions such as the 84/85 autobot crew and various fight sequences. Really liked the alternate scene to the bringing down of devastator by Ultra Mag and the autobot cars. I never felt the dinobots did a very good job stopping him.
Be sure to enlarge the thumbnails. Enjoy!

 Some really good stuff
Some of those deleted scenes are brutal, but would really flesh out the Battle of Autobot City as being a major confrontation.

Yeh lol. I read somewhere that they originally had a "charge of the light brigade" style scene where pretty much the entire 84/85 autobot cast were cut down in defence of the city.
Apparently the director described it as being too gruesome, fearing backlash from kids who had all these original autobot toys :p

a very interesting find.....
its probably way-way too late to ask for a directors cut version to be released though but man, it would have been awesome if they actually did!!!

I've often wished for a directors cut featuring theses scenes. If I had the limitless money required I would even pay for it myself.

Even with limitless amounts of funds, you can't replace Robert Stack and Chris Latta as UM and SC though... Or Scatman as Jazz! There's probably more, don't quite come to mind right now.

With limitless funds you can do anything:D
Remember on the Simpsons when Milhouse quit the Radioactive Man movie... With state of the art digital editing anything is possible:p

Yeah those deleted battle scenes were IMO necessary to show this wasnt just like any battle scene theyve shown in the series this was all out duking it out... ah well one can wish... incidentally it's a funny coincidence coz I went to JB Hi-Fi the other day and lo and behold they were showing on the sample TV the 1986 TF Movie. It was the scene when Devastator was "moving in for the kill" when I saw it :D Stayed to watch for a few minutes even though Ive seen it so many times hehehe. It looks nicer on a big widescreen TV:p
