According to a fairly reliable asian website, the already delayed Device Label Blaster, may have been cancelled altogether.

This is despite it still being advertised in JP hobby magazines (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/device-label-advertisement-in-dengeki-hobby-november-issue/17314/) (probably last minute solicitations before pulling the plug).

That sucks @SS!!!! He was the reason that was keeping me from buying that disgustingly bad Universe repaint to have a 'Classics' version of the character.

Since its 100% complete at least give us a none working version.

I'll be gutted if this is correct.
Canceled not good, but delayed for eventual release would be ok.

Recieved an update from Takara-Tomy. Device Label Broadblast (aka Blaster) operating USB HUB, after several delays and changes to the release dates with the last one on 19 Dec, is now cancelled. Unfortunately for everyone who has been waiting for this, we will be cancelling the orders for those who placed the order with us, deposit paid will be transferred to cover other orders if you have other preorders with us, if now, they will be refund.

maybe i was too early in calling cancelled though,

Interesting note is the Device Label Blaster that recently rumored to be cancelled, it is still features in this issue of Dengeki Hobby and the release date is 2010 Spring. If the information is correct, we can assume that the Blaster is just been delayed instead of cancelled.

Well it makes no sense to cancel it so late in the production stage considering that given the release dates, they would have already manufactured them in mass.

I hope that the delay news is true.

Entire Device Label now on hiatus?

The global fan sites are saying 'cancelled', but the wording HLJ are using is 'indefinitely postponed', which is not the same. It actually means that the current release date has been withdrawn and a new future release date has not yet been set (which does allow for the possibility of not being released at all, but doesn't guarantee it).

Thank you very much for your order. Unfortunately we have received word from the manufacture for the following product that the release of this item(s) has been indefinitely postponed. No new release date has been set at this time. Item: Takara Tomy Broadcast operating USB HUB (TKT34244)
Item Code Item Name Quantity Price Extended Price
TKT34242 Ravage operating USB HUB 1 ¥3,610 ¥3,610
TKT34244 Broadcast operating USB HUB 1 ¥5,225 ¥5,225
As result of this, we are taking the step of cancelling all customers orders for this that have been placed at this time. Should the manufacturer announce at firm release date for this item again in the future, we will once again begin accepting orders for it.
Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience and disappointment. We look forward to your continued support of HLJ.

Rumors surrounding Takara Tomy's Device Label Blaster figure have proven true. Mike from Digital Toys (http://www.digital-toys.com/) has been kind enough to give us word from his suppliers that the figure is indeed officially canceled and none will be made in the foreseeable future.

Mystery still lies around this release however, as it's scheduled release was in the coming weeks. Did the Device Label line see poor pre-sales? Perhaps this is an indication of Takara Tomy's financial state? Other possibilities are out there, stay tuned for updates from Seibertron.com

Well, that may be it. I kinda did want him.

I very much wanted him however the cancellation news have come very late in the game so I think that there may be several produced by now.

Something that Taktom failed while making these device labels is that they are not very practical - 2GB is nothing by current standards and Soundwave was a very substandard MP3 player. At the end due to their 'device' mediocrity, they only appeal to collectors for the toy and characters not the general public as they can get a much better equivalent device for considerably less of the amount asked.

A casual TF fan or 'general public' will not buy a low end USB stick at 300% cost just for the transforming gimmick.

I'm sure they would find a market in people who buy stuff like it thought. A Transforming (working) USB hub would appeal to the geek market. It wouldn't be much but it would still be an increase.
I'm sure a site like ThinkGeek would have sold them, they sell heaps of stuff like it

I agree, the USB hub is a great item and it would indeed reach the geek market but they never got that far as it now appears to be cancelled.

Although I do agree that there is a market for this sort of thing, Tak Tom has been actually trying to market it to the IPod generation hence the white Soundwave and white Prime IPod trailer. The 'proper' colored versions only seem to have appeared as an after thought - Yet they are the more popular items everyone is after.

Two things I find wrong with Device Label so far:

- Technically and significantly inferior to similar contemporary devices (USB sticks, MP3 players) while being significantly more expensive.

- Marketing focus away from the toy collector market and into the general 'gadget geek' market and naturally the devices don't measure up.
