The 2010 registration freebie will be Elite Guard Dion! A redeco of Universe Hot Shot.
There is a mock up of it on the TFCC forums but since I'm not a member I cant see it :(

I went to log on, and my membership has expired.. Even though I have emails proving that I re-joined this year and am good until 2010.

I want to see the picture as well.

Gee, a deluxe figure is a step up from the usual scout class. I wonder if that means the next one will be Orion Pax?

Don't like the robot mode but the alt mode looks pretty cool.

I concur.
But I think the alt mode looks better than it is due to the creepy and forgettable robot mode... :D

Take the alt mode, japanese the body it a bit, make it white with red "stickers/bodywork", and I think you have a good indicator of what a Drift toy would look like.

I'm actually liking the look of Dion.

His colours dont fuss me that much, he looks like a Gold Coast Titans mascot :D

Wow. That's truly awful. And it looks about as much like Dion as Wheelie did.

Two missile launchers that double up as his exhaust pipes in his alt car mode - missing off the Hasbro version of Hot Shot

It's Cop-Tur! Like the GoBot! (Hurrah!) And the Henkei missile launchers are just the gun/exhaust parts that were missing from the Classics release:

Hot Shot has 2 holes on his arms. They were designed for missile launchers, but Hasbro decided not to inlcude them. They also retooled the mould slightly so that the rear of the car had a gap filled in. That was also where the launchers would go in vehicle mode. The henkei version had both the gap and the launchers.

Since remolding is supposedly so expensive and I am assuming that the lack of missile launchers is to cut on production costs - Then why spend the supposed high amounts of money remolding Universe Hotshot to fill in the gap? If its so expensive to remold something then it would have been cheaper to just include the existing missile launchers, right?

Please don't tell me you're trying to make logical sense... This is Hasbro we're talking about here, they know no such thing =oP

Or they could always have compromised and made all the toys like Goki's version:

Goki's version shows that they make both the Universe and Henkei toys in the same factory only that there is cheaper production line for the Hasbro market - Too bad that the lower production cost does not reflect the retail price.

When you add up the numbers they produce, then yes, it might work out cheaper to not include 2 spring loaded lanuchers and the 2 missiles that go with them.
Doing so cuts back on both assembly and materials

It still doesn't add up since they still need to redesign the whole back section and cast new molds. If they can do that then why not a new head with a repaint?

Gutsman Heavy

its possible they already had the new back section as part of the tooling, like CYB Scrapmetals "G1" head, or most of the ROTF line where they had an alt head for redecos planned out.

I thought the only difference was a small plastic bit. That would be a slight change, like when they do a running change to add a notch or tab or something
