That would be interesting. They may make a 4th Season that is all 'ALLSPAK SUPAH ATTACK!!!' after all the Autobots combine into 'SAINT Chin!!!'

Wow - I'm actually surprised this hasn't happened earlier. I look forward to seeing the recolours... perhaps a new Lugnut toy is in order. :p

While I think this will happen eventually, the sceptic in me looks at the cheap looking logo and the inclusion of an Arcee toy in the initial line up, and it strikes me as what a fan might predict Takara does rather than what Takara is planning.

yeh and they have liested a HECk of a lot of releases in March.

I say grain of salt time.

It would probably happen anyway.

I'm not expecting them to do anything like Henkei and give the toys chrome or show accurate colours (although the vast majority of the Hasbro ones ARE show-accurate), since it doesn't seem to be inviting that kind of treatment.

I got excited by the thought of a deluxe Cliffjumper, but from the looks of the prices him and Dirge will be Activators

What I find interesting is the Bumblebee Vs Starscream 2 pack
It is the same price as the Deluxe Vs pack, not the same as the other 2 Deluxe/Voyager Vs pack

Interesting to see that the Japanese title there is actually "Animated" (アニメイテッド) which, written in the same way that Japanese fans have been doing so online. I suspect that TakaraTOMY will improve the colours on Bumblebee as they tend to do better with yellows than Hasbro (e.g. Universe Sunstreaker vs Henkei Sunstreaker).

Animated should be more show-like considering that the toys and cartoon were developed in tandem, whereas most other Transformer lines are developed as toys first. It wouldn't surprise me if TakaraTOMY gave their Animated toys show-like red and purple faction symbols (and actually give Voyager Prime a faction symbol at all!) whereas Hasbro gave them to us in silver and gold.

You mean drop of soy sauce. :p

I can't seem to find any mention of a TakaraTOMY release of Animated on any Japanese sites. Wikipedia (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%88%E3%83%A9%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B9%E3%83%95%E3%8 2%A9%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9E%E3%83%BC_%E3%82%A2%E3%83%8B %E3%83%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%86%E3%83%83%E3%83%89) (Japanese) still states that Animated isn't available in Japan and makes no mention of any plans to do so (although it does state that the Animated DS game can be played on a Japanese DS; N.B.: I know nothing about DS so please don't haze me if this is blazingly obvious :p). Although I'm using restricted net access at school so I'm not able to cast a very wide search. :/

Edit: Autobase Aichi's blog site (http://snakas.blog95.fc2.com/blog-entry-925.html) makes mention about rumours of Animated coming out in Japan, but the information comes from the same Malaysian store site that's already listed on this thread.

the DS isn't region locked. So you can play any game from anywhere on any DS
Unless there is a Japanese version of the game then it really isn't anything special

I hope the rumours are true. I want an Arcee that's all chromed up. ;)

GoktimusPrime
10th December 2009, 07:59 PM
I don't really care if Arcee is chromed or not, but considering that the Hasbro version is going to be a TRU exclusive in the States and we've yet to receive any news/confirmation as to whether or not Hasbro Australia will bring it here, a TakaraTOMY version might just be easier to obtain.

liegeprime

True, if it does come out in Japan as ordinary retail item and not TRU exclusive like in US then we get a better chance in getting it thru that source and not have to bleed our pockets trying to buy from extortionist prices it will certainly generate once it's scalped heavily in US TRU branches:mad:

Takaratomy's website now has an Animated section (http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/TF/products/animated/index2.html).

So, yeah looks like it is a go now.

No your information is correct as NDS games aren't region locked :)

Details on the JP dubbing of the Animated cartoon, including the credits song and some of the Voice Actors (including ones that have been involved in Transformers before).
http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/new-info-on-transformers-animateds-japanese-broadcast/17827/

The opening theme will be sung by JAM Project, members of JAM Project such as Hironobu Kageyama and others have also done songs for past Transformers series.

Additionally, Takahasi Hiroki, Kishio Daisuke, Akesaka Aatomi and Wakamoto Norio will be voicing Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sari, and Megatron respectively. Most of the dub cast have worked on Transformers characters in the past, such as Kicker from Super Link, who was also voiced by Kishio Daisuke, and Flame Convoy from Galaxy Force who now shares Megatron's voice. To view the source, click here (http://community.livejournal.com/tf_animated/415535.html).

Only one of those voice actors have done Transformers before; Wakamoto Norio who voiced Flame Convoy in Galaxy Force.

Some typos:
Takahasi Hiroki = Takahashi Hiroki (高橋広樹)
Akesaka Aatomi = Akesaka Satomi (明坂聡美)

If anybody hasn't seen this already, the same website was updated earlier with chromed-up finishes for some of the original TFA line.

<http://famitoy.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-takaratomy-tf-animated-toy-revealed.html>

Most distinctive and interesting moulds receiving the Takara-finish seems to be Voyager Optimus Prime, Deluxe Bumblebee, Voyager Bulkhead, Deluxe Ratchet, and Voyager Cybertronian Megatron.

Very intriguing to find a beautiful turquoise Voyager Bulkhead; rather unlike Takara to be actually deviating away from Hasbro's/Cartoon Network's original olive-green complexion for Bulkhead, and opting for beauty rather than show-accuracy. Looks rather royal :D

Personally I've got high hopes for Takara's quality control standards, and wished that they could have released such a line sooner - I've already got 97%(?) of the TFA line, less the unreleased stuff and less Activators (but including Bumblebee and Cliffjumper). :'''(

TFW2005 (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/animated-8/) has some galleries of some of the Japanese TFA toys-Bulkhead, Shockwave, Grimlock, Starscream, and Lugnut.

I think I prefer the original Hasbro versions. Either the changes are too minimal to really notice (Shockwave), or they make the toys LESS show-accurate rather than more (Bulkhead's turquoise, Starscream's random shiny blue, Grimlock being GEEWUN).

Seibertron (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/toy-images-of-takara-animated-lugnut-starscream-grimlock/17957/) also has pics of JP vs US Animated toys, for those who can't access the TFW images.

Plus, images of JP Blackout (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/first-looks-at-takara-animated-blackout/17926/), which could end up being released in Japan before Hasbro eventually gets around to it...

Gallery of the JP version of Animated Blitzwing.
http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/toy-images-of-takara-transformers-animated-blitzwing/18044/

Same general colours, with metallic paint mostly on the jet parts and tank parts.

With a number of Decepticons now with metallic paint, it blows a hole in my original theory that only Autobots would be metallic coloured.

That link doesn't work for me. :( I found some pics of JP Animated Blitzwing here (http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%BF%E3%82%AB%E3%83%A9%E3%83%88%E3%83%9F%E3%8 3%BC-%E3%83%88%E3%83%A9%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B9%E3%83%95%E3%8 2%A9%E3%83%BC%E3%83%9E%E3%83%BC-%E3%82%A2%E3%83%8B%E3%83%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%86%E3%8 3%83%E3%83%89-TA13-%E3%83%96%E3%83%AA%E3%83%83%E3%83%84%E3%82%A6%E3%8 2%A4%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B0/dp/B0034G4E40). I'm tempted to get one considering the QC issues I've had with Hasbro's Blitzwing. Hopefully TakaraTOMY's will have stronger canopy tabs so that I won't be afraid to transform it to tank mode! (-_-)
