View Full Version : Xmas Wish List

Ok guys. It's only 2 weeks to Xmas therefore 14 more sleeps until Santa comes :D

If you were 9 years old again, and let's just say for argument sake, still believed in Santa, what would your wish list look like if you had to list 5 or so items?

A couple of things to keep in mind - forget about monetary value, and pretend that you have 25 years of Transformers product to choose from.

Also, try to steer away from listing 'grail (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php?t=38&highlight=grail)' items as these potentially are recent wants to complete a collection and / or desirable because of their rarity.

You just never know... Santa might frequent OTCA and surprise you come Xmas morning.

5 items?

Hmm... I guess most of my wish list stuff could fall into the "grail" category since there's not much I really want. Nonetheless..

MISB Black Zarak
Minelba
Original Sixbuilder
Time Warrior
Blue Ramble

And a partridge in a pear tree (:

It'd be snazzy I'm sure, although I don't own the Universe Cheetor or Dinobot so I can't judge what the new ones would be like to play with. They sure look... different. If the Rhinox, if produced, was any good I'd probably have to pick them up aswell :P

I guess 9 years old again, but today, not when I actually was 9?

Honestly, if I really was 9 again today, a transformer for xmas would be right down on my list behind a bunch of other really fun crap. :)

But if I were to gun for a TF, probably ultimate BB as it has "animatronics" of sorts in it, and that's the sort of stuff my 9 year old self would find interesting. Or a g1 jetfire as robotech freaking rules. (Yes, my 11 year old self really wanted one of them), but it was my 20 something year old self that finally got one.

Seems I'm the only one who remembers what it's like to be a kid. :)

Speak for yourself. Transformers has always been #1 on my want list for xmas, birthdays etc. ever since 1984. So they would've been right up the top of my list on my 9th birthday, in fact - they were! :)

Here's a photo from my 9th birthday right here:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/goktimusprime/Transformers/G1%20toyplay/th_g1_1986.jpg <---Hot Rod was my bday present and I got Cyclonus for Xmas

...as if I'd want anything else other than a Transformer! :p

But okay, tbh if I were 9 now and had 25 years' of Transformers to choose from, my list would only go back as far as Car Robot/RiD. Anything older than that wouldn't appeal to me if I were a child. For example, I enjoyed GI Joe ARAH as a kid, but I've never been into any of the original Joes. I also enjoyed playing with Lego but I wouldn't go for any really old Lego sets.

If we're to assume that all 25 years' worth of TF toys were amazingly released in only 9 years (!!!) then my list would stretch back to G1. It all depends on whether or not I experienced G1... as an infant. :p So under that assumption my original list would be the same. Well, may not Aaron Archer's job. Replace that with G2 Hero Optimus Prime (or G2 Sureshot).

Okay.... my wishlist AS A KID was as follows:

Jazz.
Bluestreak.
Tracks.
Sideswipe.

And since we're going for five toys... I'll throw in Windcharger.

If you go for the new ones, Dinobot is certainly worth it but you need to go for the Henkei Japanese version as Hasbro has screwed up the colors on the local release.

Cheetor is not that good but he is not terrible - again Henkei version is better.

Don't over analyse this too much otherwise we could potentially get into discussions regarding the validity of one man (http://www.daclarke.org/Humour/santa.html) delivering billions of presents throughout the world in one night :)

I picked 9 years of age merely due to the fact that I was 9 in 1984 when Transformers first appeared. If anyone would like to pretend that they are younger / older than this, expect to see a lump of coal in your Xmas stocking this year :p

So it's the 10th Anniversary paint jobs all over again? Hasbro get a blind guy to guess the colours for what the toys should be, where as Takara actually watch the show and paint them appropriately?

As I said, it all hinges on this Rhinox coming to fruition. We can dream.

Yea man, I was speaking for myself. My post wasn't about you. Read and chill. I just found, and still do find, that there are better toys out there for xmas. Deal with it. My #1 want was a tamyia super hornet. But instead I got a scalextric bathurst ford/holden Slot car set. It was super mega cool.

Birthdays on the other hand, yea, that's where TFs were my #1 choice, and where I got most of them at, and were also the "at the toy store begging parents for" thing as well. :)

Yea cool. I was actually meaning for present day and what my 9 year old self selection criteria would be. Because being my current age, no way I'd willingly want an ultimate Bumbles. :p

:oThis is unfair, there wasn't any TF's when I was a 9 year old kid:o, Micronauts, Micronauts and more Micronauts is what I asked for at that age with the odd Shogun warrior thrown in:). I also used to collect a lot of the Airfix(I think) 1/32 scale plastic soldiers as they had the best detailing;):). If I was 9 years old now Transformers would be high on my list but game consoles and video games most probably would top it(just not the wii it's craptacular control system drove me away:rolleyes:).

just want 2 things...

#1 - To buy the Ravage and Rumble set I was denied (http://heroicdecepticon.blogspot.com/2005/08/ravagely-rumblin.html)when I was 9.

#2 - to experience again walking through SG shopping centres like Isetan (Havelock), OG (People's Park) and Metro, and just seeing and touching the shelves and shelves and hundreds and hundreds of MISB C10 G1 Transformers they have there...

+1 :)

I've had this reoccurring dream of me being in a shopping centre (possibly Target) and finding all old stock G1's in a clearance bargain bin. I then proceed to get the largest trolley I can find (one of those baby carriage ones) and tipping the lot in :D I wonder if this is what heaven is like....

Yeah I used to have that dream, 5FDP. Then I completed my G1 collection... and it stopped. Having G1 is more fun than waking up and realising it was only a dream.

The funny thing is I mostly dreamt about toys that I already had but they were, as expected, MISB (in my dream) being in a shopping centre. If I had any hope of collecting them all, I would have a second, perhaps third mortgage on my house, not to mention a divorce. Sometimes I envy those that don't collect in-the-box toys as it would be a lot easier to complete a series... but then again... G1 packaging *drools* :D

how odd, I very often have a recurring much like what you described except at the shopping places I mentioned... I mostly just walk around dazed and gawking at the TFs though...

I've had a similar dream since 1985! I keep dreaming that I'm in Grace Bros (Myer) and it's fully stocked with every single G1 toy and I have unlimited funds, so I pack them all into a trolley and bring them to the counter, but just after I pay for it I wake up!

After I had this dream a couple times I started realising that it was a dream, even while I'm dreaming it, so I would try to buy all these toys super quick in hopes of bringing it home before I wake up! But I _always_ wake up while I'm at the register!! GRAAARGH!!

So strange. :p

P.S.: the irony is that my Holy Grail Transformer is never in this dream since it's a mail-away exclusive!!
