Armada Blurr repaint with a remolded head, and a Sideswipe, which is a green and grey Armada Wheeljack repaint.

Source at TF2005. The same guy who revealed the Boxset exclusive before the official announcement.

Disappointed? I am. I was expecting at least a few more Decepticons to even out the odds. Now we get Blurr and Sideswipe/Wheeljack? I would have been happy with any Decepticons at this point...

The other rumored BotCon 2008 souvenir toys are Megatron (Energon Megatron repaint with a remolded head) and Rodimus (Classics Rodimus repaint including a beard).

At least Megatron will sell like hotcakes, right?

Armada Wheeljack repainted as Sideswipe makes sense as that mould always had a Sideswipe feel to it. Hopefully the Blurr remould has an actual Blurr head that'd be cool.

Given last year's set was heavily Decepticon focused I'm not surprised that this year's got the opposite, even if they are Evil Autobots.

I think last year's (and maybe the year before) gave people great expectations of the Botcon toys. These are still IMHO better than a lot of the earlier exclusive repaint toys.

anyway, the news isn't complete, both attendee exclusive figures should also be coming along with their minicon partners

Someone on another site said Blurr with a remolded head would make a good Tracks. I agree.

check out cybertron Blurr, they already did that, awesome remold IMO a must buy.

I wonder if they will use the Blurr body as Blurr, as the Cyberton Blurr had a head that was damn close to Blurr (say that really fast). The Sideswipe would work well, but green an grey? Thats more like Wheeljack than Sideswipe. Would quite like to see the Rodimus repaint. I love facial "hair" in transformers for some reason..:p

Apparently it's seven autobots and seven decepticons according to the Seibertron article here:

http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/viewtopic.php?t=36692

Armada figures are crappy figures. At this point, I really don't think I care about the attendee figures. Other than Megatron but that too will depend on colour scheme.

Megatron is also the only one that excites me. I dig both modes of that figure.

Guess that means we should expect to hear about alot of Scout Class figures being repainted?

I'm more worried about a lot of them being Mini-cons. :(

A little bit ... meh ... in many ways. But he fits into the overall mood of the set so far. The vehicle mode colour scheme appeals to me, although not because of the Evil Autobot thing. It's a repaint I'd pick up if it were available retail (:

*Shrug*

Like Dirge, I like the vehicle colours but the bot mode = major meh. The eye patch is kinda cool but is all wrong on Blurr. Not compelling.

Meh on that Blurr for me too.

I have a feeling that they struggled to think of a cool theme for this year's botcon. The evil Universe concept is rather cool in essence but it seems that they don't have their heart in it like in the previous two years, they just feel so generic.

thats pretty cool, I'm slowly being won over by this set.

i_amtrunks

I dont mind it, I quite like the Cybertron Cannonball feel I get from Blurr's robot mode.

Teched out Pirates is a good theme for Transformers repaints.

They should have used animated molds, but I guess thats reserved for next year :P

i guess it all depends on the feedbacks they received at botcon.
fans who went opt for the transverse toys (i think)

That's just crazy talk

I am curious to know whether this set sold out so quickly because of:

A) The incredible awesomeness of last years and nasty scalpers jumping on it.
B) People are really, really, really, liking the figures or
C) the guys at Botcon thought it was a bit of a weak idea and just didn't make enough.

I would laugh mightily (and cry a little having bought one myself) if they ended up selling for less on secondary market. Could it be that Botcon just didn't tale into account the amount of TF excitement brought about by the movie?

Just saw the auction for that jazz above! OMG! Thats just nuts!

My gut feeling is this one.

To be fair, while this set has its detractors, it's a lot better than some of the previous BotCon sets - the 2005 set was a mixture of good (Ironhide) and just plain crap (Buzzclaw)... with no real common thread. The alternate reality idea _is_ good, and it unifies the toys, so even if they're not up to the awesome standard of the last two years, they will make some money for scalpers

Paulbot

I agree exactly with Dirge. Earlier BotCon box sets where not as good as the last two, and those last two sets IMHO have given people (too) high expectations.

I'm just speechless, dumbfounded... How could any sane person be willing to fork out some $400 for that piece of garbage? What the hell is wrong with some people? Some people definitely have way too much money & not enough brains.

That's with a day to go. Expect another $100 or so on the final price.

I can deal with someone spending that sort of money on a limited set... but it's a lot to give to a seller with a feedback rating of 0!

Tetsuwan Convoy

I notice it has finished now for $us405!!

Now the seller has negative feedback which was recievd in the past day or so, Oddly enough, the auction for negative f/back is for Botcon '08 Prime. Only got to $100.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150228114598

My spider sense is telling me perhaps that the seller doesn't really have them in hand. Selle does have another Prime up for auction.

Serves those fools right. That seller must be laughing all the way to the bank.

If you look at the extra questions for the 2nd auction, someone asked what was up with the negative feedback and he said the person gave it to him immediately after winning the auction... no contact no nothing. If you look at THAT ID, you will see it also has one negative feedback.

I think this guy is a lot like jennyni1984 and TFCToy in that they must have access to the manufacturing facilities... you'd think Hastak would tighten up their ship. I get the feeling these are simply employee thefts.

But back to this guy, I think there might potentially be a short window here for some good deals. Due to his negative feedback, his auctions are selling for very little. He just had about 10 listings complete, so let's see how the feedback rolls in, as if it does, that opportunity window will quickly close. High risk, high reward. ;)

The Botcon sets were already sold out before the first figure was announced so I am also inclined to think that its A.

The final verdict will on Ebay and the average price that they auction for. However as Paulbot and Dirge have said, secondary market sales will make a profit but it will not be anywhere near as much as the last two years.

Pulse, it looks a lot like Drench (http://www.tfu.info/1993/Autobot/Drench/drench.htm), who was never sold here (although we got Deluge, who was similar).
