Awesome! Now you can once again have a look at the differences between the Reflector variations including the KO and others!

I was fearing that when Geocities closed, the site was lost forever so I am very thrilled to see it back.

Any one else knows where there's more variant info of Grimlock? I still couldn't find the answer there regarding my Grimlock.

What's odd about your Grimlock?

Hasbro G1

Apparently Hasbro/Takara Grimlock is without the 3 dots and also got number 2(hope can see clearly in the pic). Any idea?

Interesting. When did you get your Grimlock?

Got something that may help:

You don't seem to have the 'Bommander' or other KO. I can't say for certain but you appear to have the Japanese release of Grimlock which makes it every bit as legit as Hasbro's.

The funny thing is according to this site http://www.actoys.net/bbs/read.php?tid-277998.html the G1 Grimlock that's been used also got the 3 dots and without the number 2, however didn't mention which variants did it use.

Edit: Thanks for the info Kup. I'm just too slow in typing. :p If anyone else got any more info I'd love to hear from you.

Check to see if your Grimlock's other features matches that of the mentioned Japanese variations in 'The Real Dinobots!' section of the variations site.

Type 1: smooth head, no locktab on chest (Japan)
Type 2: tabbed head, tabbed-chestpieces (Japan)
Type 3: tabbed head, tabbed-chestpieces (Macau)
Type 4: Gen-2; silver, turquoise, or blue (china)

I was just looking at that link too. Refer to the other tell tale signs like the dinosaur arms and neck innards.

Be sure it is an original before worrying about which variant it is. The KO is pretty hard to tell apart from an original without the guide.

Just a side note though - just because it doesn't have the numbers next to the stumps in his mouth doesn't automatically mean he's a KO. I believe G1 devastators/mixmasters large purple gun came in three different variants. Two numbered and one without I think.

Yeah I am also very inclined to think that your Grimlock is real.

Yeah mine is exactly the same G1 as in that link (Phewww). Just that someone who got the Takara G1 also shown me that his is without the 3 dots and got the 2. So that's make me wondering if mine is not Hasbro or Takara (canadian?), which one could it be? :p Thanks for all the helps guys, really appreciated.

Perhaps you have a Classic Grimlock? I don't know if there's a way to spot those (amd really regret not buying the Classic Dinobots back in the 90s).

I just checked my Grimlock and it doesn't have the 2 either. However its way too old for it to be a G1 accurate KO and he has a 'Takara CO. LTD. JAPAN 1980-1984' stamping on his leg.

I must have the same version as you, hanprimus.

I just looked at mine which is definitely the original G1 release (I still remember buying it as a kid), and it has the 2.

You most likely have a "classics" release, or a even Milton Bradley variant ?

The Classic reissues also have different copyright stampage. Some have _no_ copyright stampage (just a smooth blank square where the copyright should be). So check out the copyright stampage (or lack of?).
