Apparantly the prototypes on the bottom left of this page are Hot Rod and .... Rhinox! Though to me it looks like some of his ideas went into Sentinel Prime, it's a shame we didn't get him.

Rhinox!? Seriously?
Oh man i wish they had of made him, i wonder what other unexpected characters were at some point planned ...

Wow. Those two prototypes on the bottom were for TF:A? The show's look could've gone in a whole different direction! The detail was bumped up in the beginning then scaled back.

Words cannot describe how awsome that Rhinox looks, that hot rod however looks like the lankey love child of Arcee and Blurr, still kinda cool though

You know looking at that last page with the prototypes of Hot Rod and Rhinox there may have been multiple pitches made for what was TF: Heroes (Which we all now know as TFA)
Look at that top illustration Prime's fighting someone who looks a lot like Galvatron. The two bots at the bottom of the illustration look like the jet twins but one looks like the Hot Rod prototype and the other looks like Soundwave with nods to Jetstorm.
In the cast line-up you can make out Lugnut (2nd last from the right) and Prime
(2nd from the left)
What could've been sure looks interesting...

Not surprising considering how much Animated was scaled back from Transformers Heroes. These designs more detailed than Animated but simpler than Heroes.

Bumblebee is sooo golden... I like the pretty colours, which make the US versions look quite dull next to them, but I think lack of show-accuracy would bug me if we had these released by Hasbro instead of the ones we got.
In case the images at the link above don't work, they are mirrored at Seibertron website -

Which makes them easier to animate traditionally. Mind you they still had problems staying on model...
