Oh these will be mine. The Orochi is such a nice looking car.

I like the designs and the robot modes do evoke a very 'aerial' theme with minimal obvious car kibble adding to that effect. If the quality is anything like Bumblebee and Cliffjumper then you are looking at some very good grade toys.
However car seekers are not very appealing to me as a concept despite the very good quality of these designs so I will not get them.

They've got a bit of BT Tracks going on there with the shoulder things. The robot mode looks tall and skinny, I hope they size up well with the other alternities.

Not really keen on the chunky chibi looking arm blasters though.

At first i thought the doors were supposed to be flip up style, like this pic:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0b/Mitsuoka_Orochi_Nude_Top_Roadstar.JPG
But turns out that's the roadster, thankfully! These are looking great! Seems they resorted to a fake chest in the style of the bonnet to achieve the look of the sketch we saw earlier. Is it his seats over his shoulders? And the dash/steering wheel behind the back? Looks to be a pretty interesting transformation.

Wow - Skywarp is one scary-looking toy. Not sure he's as Skywarpy as he could be, but still - colour me impressed. If there was some sort of sensible canon behind this franchise, I'd be completely sold on that one.

Yeah, they're 'cheating' on that chest plate, but it works. Almost feels like they are over-compensating with the stripes on the insides of the doors tho.
They are looking fantastic tho, thanks Kurt.

Wow, the colour used for Skywarp is beautiful. I've got no Alternity figures, but Skywarp looks like a figure worth owning (if prices aren't too steep, and Uni books havent sent me broker than broke by then!)

I'm loving the mecha look. I'm still getting these, got them on earlybird @hlj last month afterall. :)
As for cheating, well, mp prime cheated as well, and it's the best one.

NW :) You mention the stripes, do u mean on their wings? I think the wings are the bonnet and boot; on (our) left, Starscream's wing definitely has the shape of the boot piece from the car pic. The car doors seem to be on the waist, kinda like an MP Seeker tribute!

No love for Stunticons who should be really deserving the Alternity treatment.

Will definately be pre ordering these. One question though, I currently have the chogokin drossel figure on pre order, if i pre order these, will they not ship my drossel until the seekers are released? If so i'll wait till my drossel is shipped then pre order the seekers.

Going against the trend I think, but I don't like Skywarp much. I'm glad I waited for pics instead of preordered these sight unseen.

I like these toys, they have a look all there own, much like the previous Megatron Black repaint. While the Alternetety toys look great their similarity to Binaltech and high cost has been the main thing holding me back from getting one. if they start to get there own look, then I might have to get some. As Sky Shadow said a bit of backstory would help to.
Will definately be pre ordering these. One question though, I currently have the chogokin drossel figure on pre order, if i pre order these, will they not ship my drossel until the seekers are released? If so i'll wait till my drossel is shipped then pre order the seekers.
It depends when you placed the order, once a month has passed HLJ will ship the item regardless of any other orders.

Yeah, the actual doors are forming the waist sheaths like Kawamori put on the MP seekers. And yeah, I was referring to the lines on the pieces forming the 'wings' (which are indeed non-symmetrical) being reminiscent of the outline of the F-15 wings.
The pieces overhanging the shoulders have the same coloring as the respective F-15 intake schemes as well. Looks like they are trying to create the stabilisers on the shins too. The head designs still confuse me a bit tho but I kinda like them.
I personally still think it's a fugly looking car tho. Like the bastard child of a Diablo and McLaren which was left out in the sun and half melted... And the inherent large panel lines of the 1:32 scale don't help, especially the hood.
As for cheating, well, mp prime cheated as well, and it's the best one.
Partially, MP Prime didn't cheat in the same way as this is. That chest piece looks completely separate to the outer shell, where as Prime retained the windows and swapped the grill. That chest is almost an abstract motif for the Okamora Orochi as opposed to using actual parts.
Will definately be pre ordering these. One question though, I currently have the chogokin drossel figure on pre order, if i pre order these, will they not ship my drossel until the seekers are released? If so i'll wait till my drossel is shipped then pre order the seekers.
Like Zed said, depends who you ordered from. I have my orders with amiami - if items arrive at roughly the same time they will ship them together, otherwise you can request that orders be combined in their customer notes section when ordering. HLJ process orders about twice a week, although with larger shipments they may start processing immediately.
Drossel rules - I have the Figma version and adore it.

I'll consider getting Starscream. I love how even though he's a car he still has his that seeker vibe going.
...which is kinda helped by the wings and tail fins in his robot mode...

Alternity does have a backstory btw. It continues on from Binaltech - bridging the distance from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Not surprised given the record of Japanese none cartoon fiction.

and their cartoon fiction. ;)

I thought Binaltech was pretty good.
Kiss Players/Position... well... best left alone.
Alternity is interesting but too extreme. Although how a ghost spark Starscream would enter the story and what Skywarp is doing there could provide interesting material to work with.

I'm a fan of the white version of this mold (Starscream)... Skywarp doesn't do anything for me unfortunately (too much purple for my taste).

wow... dis is the best looking alternity in both modes in my opinion, to me, this is the one worth getting out of all the alternities... but I still think the car front's "mouth" is not to my tastes
they have diff headsculpts rite??? coz I keep thinking that starscream's head doesnt reli resemble starscream

You and me both. Don't quite like these figures, but oh well. The head for Skywarp looks alrite, but Starscream looks too much like a cat (Or even Tigatron :p)

Good to get a random car mold, but itself looks kinda weird. Robot mode is ok, but nothing fantasic like Convoy or Megatron.

They do look kind off melty, I agree. For me though it's that melting look that draws me to these guys, I've got enough sleek straight looking TF carbots, I like this car design, looks different.

Ngee Khiong (http://ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2010/03/non-gundam-updates-from-hobby-magazines.html) recently posted some scans - of note is this one that seems to show Skywarp with altered colour scheme - more G1 accurate.
It doesn't look like a bad scan (the rest of the colours are fine), but it may be a photoshop job.. (there's hints of the original purple in the car photos). I did like the purple of the first batch of photos, but black probably looks better - all i know is i just want it now!

A printing error maybe? The purple hi-light looks strange.
Figure King Magazine (released about the same time) still shows the same stock images:

so its modelled after a merc car?
It's modeled on a Japanese sports car called a Mitsuoka Orochi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsuoka_Orochi) (more info here (http://www.autoblog.com/2006/10/03/mitsuoka-orochi-specs-pricing-announced/) and here (http://www.mitsuoka-motor.com/lineup/orochi/exterior.html))
It seems the car started off life as a concept car based on a Honda NSX with design cues taken from many manufacturers, so yes, possibly including Mercedes.
