I am fortunately in my home that I have a seperate dedicated room to my TF and model cars. The room is usually locked!

The only cabinet I have in other parts of the room is the lounge room that holds my V8 Supercar boxsets.

thanks- the 3 big display cabinets are industrial shop fittings. they look good and you see them in hobby shops.

the glass is very thick and the aluminium is very strong.

i have no fears with collapsing....

yes - the cabinets are very very expensive. around $1500 each. However,my model collection in 1/18 is quite valuable, so its only relative.

i know some collectors have bought cheap pine cabinets with thin glass.... its only a matter of time when tragedy strikes. someone could knock them and you could have a collapse

About a year or so ago, my local hobby shop was selling the 1/18 2005 Steve Ellery T8 car for $50-$60 (instead of normal $215 1/18 V8 Supercar) so I thought, I would take one apart. I've seen people strip these cars and put the parts on EBAY.

Instead I thought I would make a workshop.

Here is the Ellery car. Since then, thanks to advice from a diecast forum member, I have taken off with metho the Ellery names on the door, the #88 on the roof and the front doors of the car. (The metho took ages to do). I think I got confused and should have used non-acetone for the doors as it would have taken not that long.

Over the xmas holidays I was bored and was looking at my cabinet. For some strange reason, when I bought the 1/18 2002 Crompton 00 Motorsport car, it never sat straight. It was crooked. My feeling was that over time the heat warped the box and the car chassis warped. Besides it was only $85.

So I decided to take it apart. Again I took the names and #27 off the car. I only have to paint the lights green to simulate Lowndes Green Eye Monster.

However, honestly speaking the 00 Motorsport car looks so bland compared to the T8 Betta Electrical car.

In time, if I can find a cheap damaged Vodafone BF, I will make another workshop livery.

OMG god loves you for being a ford man....
Especially with the AU's!!
I have wanted a Lowndes green eyed monster forever as the AU is my favourite shape!

It's been a while since I last posted my cars. I've bought more.

But this one is a special one.

Last year, Team Vodafone at Bathurst did a 'formation 1-2' finish.

To commenmorate this event, Classic Carlectables made a special 1-2 boxset. You can see that the drivers signed the certificates and it comes with a 1/18 Peter Brock Trophy.

You can buy the 2010 1/18 Bathurst winner seperately and I have done so too.

The perspex case is not included. It was supplied to me by a hobby shop. The perspex cover is about $55-$60.

Do a search for shop fittings.
I gotten mine from Shopforshops and it appears they have branches for other States.

They ARE having SALE on glass cabinets at the moment, I gotten mine under $1218 with delivery included. Specs are from the website.
